It is expressly stated that her father was involved in the alliance military-industry and one of the big-backers of cerberus until she ran away and joined. how do you know what her father's attitude was - to anything - during her upbringing?

It is? Where is that information that her father was involved in the defence industry? I thought I made that up. I only know that he was one of the big backers of Cerberus.

It came from the information that Cerberus has major backers in the military-defence industry. And since her father was a major backer.... It's not stated, but rather inferred.

Canonically, Miranda's father is an extremely wealthy businessman in an unspecified kind of business. He's so wealthy that the Eclipse mercs in Miranda's LM refer to him as "the richest guy on Earth", which may not be literally true, but should show the kind of world she's grown up in.

I thought the line the merc said was actually something along the lines of "[pissing off] the richest guy in the galaxy"

He was said to have been extremely oppressive and controlling. And I agree with Arjharn. She wouldn't have sex just to ****** off her father, she's above that. And I don't think Miranda had anything more than friendship with Niket. I didn't get the 'mutual crushers' vibe when she talked about him. Also, she didn't really care about him much, once again indicating she only saw him as her only friend. Sure, Niket might've had a crush on Miri, but it wasn't reciprocated by Miranda.

actually being so oppressive and controlling would have driven her to do exactly that - rebellious children and all that (either you don't remember being one, or unusually weren't or don't have any yourself ;)).

I can attest to the fact that if the consequences are unpredictable you tend to keep your business secret rather than risk open provocation. In Miranda's case, I imagine the consequences might not have been unpredictable but made up for it in severity. I also imagine that for any of her father's employees, an assignment with the boss's daughter could cost you your job - or your life.

@t3HPrO:
While I agree she wouldn't provoke her father, I don't agree with your reason. Teenagers are rarely above anything. Miranda would have been no exception to that, even though I imagine her to have a bit more control over herself due to the extreme pressure she was under.

I'll have to check. If he said that, then I might have substituted it in my mind, because if he had that singular distinction, we really should know more about him, and it would be less plausible that he wouldn't go against TIM.

Arijharn's right, that was the phrasing, the next bit with the neck-snap renegade interrupt is my favourite bit in the entire game. however that doesn't mean it wasn't a metaphor or simple turn of phrase...

TIM has a lot of influence given his role in Alliance affairs, even if it isn't in the public arena. Given that Cerberus by their very definition is a shadow spec ops organization I think any prudent person would be keen on not pissing them off, especially if her father is a very visible target.

I doubt Miranda's father is the richest man in the galaxy. Humans haven't been around for long and humanity is still a relatively small economic power. I'd guess that an asari or a volus would probably be the wealthiest person in the galaxy. As for wealthiest human, I also find this difficult to believe because as Ieldra says, he should be a lot more well known and Miranda wouldn't be simply referring to him as a "very successful businessman". I'm inclined to believe the merc was exaggerating.

Heh, richest man doesn't mean 'richest entity,' it just means richest man strictly speaking ;)

EDIT:
Too much talking, not enough Miri pics.

So what does Mr. Delta Force have to say about Miri's exquisite combat stance?

Ugh, I didn't need to see that *at* all.

Edit: please take it down? I couldn't care less that chuck norris approves of her trying to pose in a striptease. It's insulting.

Edit: Thanks.

FRAPS. AFAIR, the unregistered version can only make BMP screenshots which you need to convert to JPG using IrfanView. The registered version can make JPG screenshots and record movies with sound, tough the sound recording has a few issues.

Edit:
Miranda's pose is not now sexy, butand we still don't need Chuck Norris in this thread. Elyvern, I agree with you 100%.
Thanks for the change, t3HPrO! Much better now.

Edit2:
But it is correct that there are too few Miranda pictures....

btw you can batch convert FRAPS BMP files into JPEGS using Photoshop, it's what i use and it doesn't take long, and saves a helluva lot of memory...

Shepard definitely need some stylish clothing. His selection can't stand up to Miranda's.

@Ieldra2 The formal wear from Kasumi's LM is fairly nice.

Also replaying her LM on insanity is so nasty, only my Tactical Cloak and Widow saved me.

However what do you think weighs no Miranda more:

Killing Niket, or watching him die? Either way she takes it fairly poorly.

Killing Niket. She feels the need to justify it afterwards. However, it's not that bad, so most of the time I let her shoot him anyway, because I think Shepard does not have the right to physically interrupt her.

BTW, I don't play on Insanity anymore. Did it once, and it was a challenge. Went reasonably well too with only a handful of deaths with my Engineer. But it's not fun more than once. I guess the hard part was the fight against Enyala, right? Usually I need one or two medigels here even on Veteran.

I play on Casual, due to poor reflexes. I'm running my own sort of challenge this game. Miranda will only be used on Freedom's Progress. Not doing her LM until after the suicide mission. She should, theoretically, survive til then.

I save it till right before the Reaper IFF, Slam is to useful to pass up.

I actually find Slam pretty useless. It can only be combined with other biotic powers on the way up so the window is small, and sometimes it knocks enemies down behind cover, temporarily taking them out of the line of fire. I wish Miranda's loyalty power had been something like Liara's stasis.

Slam is useless, but it does look cool. Fortunately her class skill makes up for it.

True, but it's not so much about damage or better positioning, it's for crowd control, which is why I always used to take crippling slam afterwards to keep them down for longer. Regardless, it's not that useful simply because biotics are largely ineffectual, you have to peel off multiple layers of shields/armour first...

I hope they change that for ME3. I don't want biotics to be essentially IWIN like they were for ME1, but it seems so bloody pointless for them in ME2

The hardest I ever play on is hardcore. Insanity is not challenging, it's frustrating. I want challenge goddammit, not for my blood pressure to get raised through the roof.

I stick to hardcore myself, Insanity is no fun.

That being said the higher difficulty gets the better Miranda is to have on your team since she wipes out defenses very well.
