I actually found Miranda's profile in the SB's dossier unsurprising. Mind you, i"ve known more than my fair share of very highly strung professional women over the years.
We have Miranda, who is an outwardly selfassured professional, who is at the highest rung of Cerberus control answering directly to the Illusive Man himself. She is driven, ambitious and in charge of the entire Lazarus project, and by association almost all of the crew of the SR-2. Not just that, but during the entire previous two years, she was the head of a secret project, where every single person she saw was either a subordinate, or her subject patient.
Of course she's going to go look for sex in that period, but almost no one she knows is available. She can't date any of her subordinates, besides the inevitable issues with power involved in dating your subordinates, she doesn't strike me as the kind to screw around in the workplace.
She can't go out and hit the local clubs, she's been working on a top-secret project. They don't usually place them with easy access to downtown clubs, and it's likely that she was entirely isolated from normal social interaction.
So what's a hard-working, driven professional to do? Well, either visit a brothel (sort of like the Amsterdam or Vegas of the ME universe) which really doesn't strike me as Miranda's style, or to go out and find herself a date.
Entertainingly enough she chose an option where the genetics she hates are if not a non-issue, much less of one. Online dating is primarily a place where mental facility and wit is more important than physical appearance.
Or it's just one collosal gag towards one of the loading screensavers where it tells you that there are no good galactic dating services.
