Hey I don't mind it. I just find her running around in it in battle to be ridiculous.

Same.  I think it looks awesome, especially her loyalty outfit.  I also happen to like Jack's alternate appearance, Kasumi's catsuit, etc.  Do I think they're realistic for some of the combat situations of ME2?  Nope.  Am I willing to suspend some disbelief for the sake of awesome?  Yes, but only to a certain point.

Take Legion's loyalty mission for example.  No air.  No organic life support.  And...somehow I doubt they heat the place for when Shep and company conveniently turn up.  Miranda, Kasumi, and Samara are in thin catsuits.  Jacob is wearing his uniform.  Jack's not wearing anything from the waist up.  WAT.

I'd have liked Jack's AA more without the visor. She has pretty eyes I don't know why BW hid them.

Kasumi's to me makes...a smidge of sense. (she uses that cloak most of the time when I'm with her anywas) but even that pushes it.

XD
And Shep is always fully armored just blinking at the rest of them.

Shep:  Am I the only sane man?

Hey, I need someone to beta my Miranda/FemShep story. Preferably one of the other authors in this thread. I've finished 4 chapters (approx 5,864 words) so far, and I'm working on the 5th chapter now. I posted some of it on FanFiction.net several months ago, then deleted it because I was unhappy with it. I abandoned the story for a while, but recently went back and reworked the first 4 chapters and came up with a more coherent plot for the rest of the story. Anyway, if you're interested/willing, message me. I think it doesn't suck, but I need someone to be brutally honest with me.  In a constructive way, of course.

Of course I couldn't resist reading it, in spite of what I said elsewhere. An interesting subversion, but let's hope the scenario it's based on never comes to pass. The very last thing I want in the romance is Miranda getting pregnant within ME3 as a non-optional development. **shudder** **eyes the Bioware logo warily**

Actually, jtav's fic isn't that dark at the end. I actually giggled a bit, visualising in my head how Shep and Miri were going to foil Lawson senior's plan...again. And then paying him a not-so-friendly visit. Speaking of fic...I should really get back onto my own...but DAMN YOU SAINTS ROW 2!!!

MsSiha, perhaps you didn't realize that Miranda is being mind-controlled, and she doesn't even know of it. How would she react to finding out? Killing her father wouldn't change the fact that he has won the fight to control his daughter's fate unless she aborts the child and breaks up with Shepard. There can be no happy end in that scenario. Either she'll live with Shepard and the child, knowing that in doing so, she follows her father's plan, or she'll foil her father's plan and deprives herself of the man she loves and the child. I'd call that pretty dark...

Despite the knee-jerk reaction that we get from reading the story from Miranda's father's PoV, the beneficial traits he's engineered into her can be considered desirable, in fact those are your very words, Ieldra. And also that it would benefit humanity's gene pool if they get a chance to be introduced. It's the nature of his approach that's reprehensible and the egomaniacal and patronising attitude that he brings into the whole business.

Yes, it's definitely a rock and a hard place situation. But I would think Miranda deucely stupid if she decides to abort the child and break up with Shepard. What would that accomplish ultimately? It's an empty gesture of defiance that does her more harm than her father. We are all products of our genetic programming, in her case, it wasn't random, it was the machinations of a man who treats humans, his children like cattle. But the tendencies her father programmed into her aren't bad at all.

Setting aside her behavioural predispositions, does it mean Shepard isn't worth it? No, he certain is. And with Miranda's sense of pragmatism, she would be able to reach that conclusion easily. Yes, her life will forever be foreshadowed by the awareness that her choices are preprogrammed, (again who isn't? her tendencies are just less random than the normal person's) but her ability to seperate the rational from the emotional will be her safeguard against such insidious mind-control. She is singularly suitable to fight back against that.

Something like this isn't all black or white. Miranda can attempt to accept that nothing can be done about this. She can then let it destroy her life or what chances of happiness she has. Or she can choose to negotiate with it. She wouldn't be able to help the constant second-guessing, but she can become more than her father envisions her to be.

Bottomline is you can't help a genetic inheritance, but you can choose your degree of inheritance.

omg. that line is so EPIC! may i please use it for my fanfic?

besides that i have similar thoughts about miranda. it is clear that she resents her father and how she as created, but either way abortion or not, i don't think she would do it becuase of her father. then she would only keep letting him control her life and that's kind of why she left. no?

Oh. Well, that has the very thing that's been bothering her from the start, so I don't see what's so 'dark' about that. Actually, it can't really be considered 'according to plan', because Miranda already screwed it up when she escaped with Oriana, and again when she saved Oriana. And Ely, you're right. Miranda wouldn't be so stupid as to break up with Shepard and get an abortion, because shed know that doing that would hurt only Shepard, her and herself.
