I've noticed a lot of these conversations are driven by writers who are interested in knowing everything they can about Miranda, so they can write better stories.  That's kinda why I've started hanging out here.  I never realized what a great source this thread was until a couple weeks ago.
You know, I used to be a Tali guy, but I've been converted.  There's just something about Miri...  Besides that fantastic arse, that is.
Yeah, me too, I've noticed they have some great discussions about topics I didn't even know you could discuss lol
I've always liked Tali, but I feel like she's more of a little sister/friend than a LI.

lol last comment: so true!

Hmm...reading this, I'm beginning to wonder where all the Talimancers have gone. Do they all hang out on their own site or have they all converted to someone else?

Or is it just that Jack and Miranda are so much more interesting to discuss?

They're either not in this thread or they've said everything they need to say, possibly. Either that or the entire idea of "talimancers" was overblowing a vocal minority.

I think it's more that the initial burst of insanity immediately after the release of the game has passed, and everyone's calmed down.  Not as many rabid supporters or detractors, for any of the NPCs.  That's a good thing ^_^

It's funny, though--I was set on romancing Tali with my ManShep, but after creating his personality and playing through some of ME1, I realized he treats Tali more like how a jerkass older brother would treat his little sister.  It's so rare in video games to find an NPC companion who the PC can really treat as an equal--more often than not, there's this huge power imbalance.  It was nice having Miranda around as an equal rather than someone Shep could steamroller all over.

This deserves to be repeated. What most of us fear is that Miranda will be "chickified" in ME3. I take every opportunity to shout "Do Not Like" about that.

Not that Shepard doesn't act from high up in Miranda's romance as well, but it's not as apparent as in the others.

BTW, I highly resent that Liara tells me how much I've changed her in LotSB. Miranda has done any changing herself, Shepard is only the catalyst.

Maybe I'm being unduly optimistic, but I'm not too concerned about it in BioWare's hands.  Square-Enix seems incapable of having a colder character undergo character development WITHOUT chickification.  Blearrgh.  BioWare's writers are much more adept.  It's possible to have Miranda warm up without chickifying her, and I think the romance conversation where you can give her a hug illustrates it beautifully.  She acknowledges her feelings, but she approaches the romance with Shep with that steely determination that I so admire about her.

There's a fine balance between a character who challenges the PC and one who undermines the PLAYER.  No player likes being undermined by NPCs--part of my objection to parties in Obsidian games is how utterly dysfunctional the party members can be.  They all hate each other, second-guess the protagonist, and rarely offer real support.  No good.  But equally no good are the characters who are easily steamrollered by the protagonist (ME1 Liara and Tali come to mind, though they're much improved come ME2).  Miranda, Sten from DA:O, and Wrex are characters that manage to challenge the PC's views and attitudes without feeling like they're out to get the player somehow.

very in depth conversations going on here, heres my opinion, short and quick

FemShep and Miranda wouldn't work as I just don't see Miranda lezzing out. But maybe in ME3 (given that Miranda's gonna be in it) maybe we could explore that possibility

Also why would manshep do anyone other than Miranda, i mean why would you get in bed with Tali or Samara i mean thats just plain disturbing

I think we can infer with some confidence that straight-Miranda is canon, so we won't see Miranda "lezzing out" in ME3.  In fact, she almost certainly won't be a romance option at all, unless you ended ME2 with her as your LI.  Of course, that doesn't stop us from speculating about a more sexually open-minded Miranda in the realm of fan fiction.  The question at hand is whether Miranda and femshep would mesh personality-wise.

As for the idea of getting in bed with Tali or Samara being disturbing, that sounds like a you problem.

Let me answer that for you. We are either in the Clan Zorah fan group or the Talizorah.org website. After the new forum rules that Pacifen made, the Tali'Zorah thread stopped being as active as a chat room. Plus, a lot of Talimancers either left or stopped being as active since the old days of the previous Tali thread. So no, we did not convert to other characters. Plus, you don't need to romance other characters in order to like or discuss them(I like Miri, Ashley and Jack.)

Hey guys. Do any of you have a nice, clear picture of Miranda saluting Shepard before the SM by any chance? I want to make a sig with it but can't find a good version of the screencap.

Is it ever mention what level of medical knowledge or field background she has? If worked on bringing back Shepard along with the top scientist. She had to know some knowledge, right? Did she just oversee the project or was her knowledge of medicine used?

I don't think any specifics are given about her medical training in game or in the codex.

The best depiction of her involvement with running the Lazarus Project that I've seen is in a fanfic called Interstitium.  Specifically, Chapter 2.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I got the impression that most of the hands-on science was Wilson's doing, not Miranda's.  She was in charge of the oversight of Project Lazarus.  Obviously she has to have some medical knowledge, but she wasn't the expert on hand the way that, say, Mordin is an expert researcher or Tali is a tech expert.

Yea, Wilson was in charge of executing everything while Miranda oversaw everything. Although she did have a role in the formulas and scientific research needed to revive Shepherd, it was ultimately Wilson's work. We don't know full details, of course we probably won't ever.

I've been thinking recently, Wilson must have been a freaking genius. It's kind of a shame Miranda shot him in the neck.

It IS a shame.  Though I love that it's the very first thing Miranda does when you see her in the game, before she has any dialogue in person at all

I suspect she has far more technical knowledge than what has been agreed upon so far. Put on your subtitles, go through the part where Shepard gets knocked out again and things go blurry, she was chiding Wilson about his estimates and saying they were wrong. The fact that Wilson doesn't argue against it and that she had the authority to study his numbers and then decide something is off suggests that she knows the intricacies of the work involved. A clueless overseer would be a giant mistake in a project like this.

Drug dosages are (relatively) straightforward however; certainly compared to what else the Lazerus project was doing. If you're curious, it's essentailly as slap-dash as 'Patient about this big, so it's about X dosage'.

Well if i'm correct she was hand picked by TIM... and he doesn't strike me as the type who would choose a leader with little/no expeirence for one of the most expensive and advance procedure ever attempted.
