She looks substantially less creepy, but I like the creepy, inhuman beauty.
I guess it just comes down to personal preference

Unfortunately, we can blame that almost entirely on Texmod. The textures themselves don't cause much of a performance impact on my system, but Texmod itself...yeesh.Ryzaki wrote...
Though the FPS hit on the mod splits my FPS in half. :/
From 60FPS to 30 at best.
Alas. My poor baby can't handle it.

It's more or less hacking the game and replacing the textures in a way the engine wasn't necessarily designed to handle. I wish I could find another way to do the textures, but this is the best option I have.Ryzaki wrote...

I wonder why it causes such a hit?

I don't think she ever looked creepy, just fake (nobody has skin that smooth. Nobody)Xilizhra wrote...
I think that might have been deliberate; Miranda's origins were unwholesome, and she's supposed to look a bit creepy.
I posted this image a page before but I really think giving her more realistic and natural skin actually makes her substantially more beautiful (and that's saying a lot).

No I don't use mod. I've just changed some graphic settings. All characters looks natural and their skin tone fit their real skin texture tone. DOF is a great effect but unfortunately it affect the contrast and the tone of some textures.
This is how Miri looks with bright lighting and without DOF :

She never looked fake to me. I agree, in principle, with giving her skin a little more detail, but IMO the contrast on the texture between the lighter and the darker parts is too high. Her skin should be as flawless as it is possible to be without looking unnatural, and your new skin texture isn't that.JeanLuc761 wrote...
I've always subscribed to the idea that it's her imperfections that make her perfect (and I often apply the same principle to Tali). She looks fine with the supersmooth skin...but she also looks fake, and that put me off quite a bit.Ryzaki wrote...
Ah but the supermodel skin makes *sense* She's supposed to be perfect. Her skin should be flawless . That said your skin does make her hit uncanny valley alot less often so I'll be happily using it.

I also disagree that she looks creepy, apart from a very few scenes where the lighting is just wrong for her.

I think Miranda looking a just a little off or strange sometimes has less to do with her skin texture and more to do with her facial structure. If you compare her face against her actress inspiration, Miranda's face is more symmetrical than Yvonne's. Human faces aren't perfectly bilaterally symmetrical. Miranda's nearly is, and it makes her look different.

@JeanLuc : I don't think she has "unnatural" smooth skin, her skin is very detailed and she already has some little imperfections :a.k.a silverster stalone jaw syndrome
I actually do find it odd that the textures look more detailed on my computer than some of the other screenshots I'm seeing here. I don't have anything disabled, and I'm forcing anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing through the Nvidia control panel.g54 wrote...
You did a great job on her JeanLuc761 and I'm looking forward to your next texture upgrade project.
I don't seem to be getting lower FPS (longer load times due to not being able to use MassAffinity in Texmod) but the textures aren't as great as I saw from those screen shots
I remember seeing a post about enabling/disabling DoF? Was there anything enabled/disabled on your end?

So I take it the first quote is the person's comment and the second quote was your response to it?jtav wrote...
I ran across some nice comments about Miranda and thought I'd share. The original context is a comment made about how Miranda's sex appeal weakens her strength.
"One of my favorite things about Miranda...is that her attractiveness doesn't hinge on making her less dangerous.
Her sex appeal is the kind that can be and IS used as a weapon. It doesn't define her whole character, it's a tool that she uses to make herself more lethal....Basically I hold that sex appeal shouldn't factor into how strong a character is."
"I disagree that Miranda'a sex appeal hurts the strength of her character, because it's part of it; her sex appeal is essentially weaponized, and she even mentions it as one of the things her father made sure was built to spec, so to speak, so she could use it to her advantage.
Not that I think she's a total ho who borks every dude she needs to get information from, she's a good enough talker that her looks just make it easier for her to manipulate people if need be."
And that is just one of the reasons I love her.
