Even the best can benefit from good equipment. There is a limit for improvements on the human body beyond which things start to appear nonhuman. Equipment has no such limits.Lord Ed1 wrote...
I hope we get to see some more press on that new appearance pack tomorrow. I"m happy they decided to include Miri. Not entirely happy about the visor, it takes some emphasis away from how perfect Miri is, now that she has electronical assistance.
Having said that, we still have no better picture, and if this visor looks indeed like a monocle, I doubt I'll like it much.

Idk, still like it though. And it doesnt look entirely stupid like the last ones. (save for Garrus' which finally fixed that stupid missing chunk of armor.)

Options are always good. I support an outfit selection, though exposed skin in space shouldn't be an option IMO. What I really want is that the on-mission outfits and the shipboard outfits are different, as it is with Shepard. So we could have sexy outifts on the ship and non-ridiculous combat outfits while on a mission. Miranda's outfits are nothing she'd want to wear anywhere she doesn't want to be extra-conspicuous. Bioware was aware of that or we wouldn't have Enyala's comment.FireWynd wrote...
Just wanted to support the OP in everything said except for:*Miranda has oversexualized outfits in ME2. We wish her to have less aggressively sexualized and all-in-all more convincing ones (Compare Liara's LotSB outfit). No exposed skin in space, please, and no high heels on outfits she wears on combat missions!
*No objectifying ass shots. We like that Miranda is sexually experienced, but she is not a sex object
I love everything about Miranda including her sexy outfits. For those who hate it, maybe include some optional armored look outfits.
Don't exclude those who love her as she is in game (high heels and all).
I really hope she takes a prominent part in ME3 as a main character / continued romance option. She is the best romance option since Viconia from Baldur's Gate and Bastila Shan from KOTOR. Although I actually like her more than Bastila. Viconia though... hard to beat that one :-D
I couldn't imagine Mass Effect without her. I was always disappointed by the Mass Effect 1 romance options. They finally did it right with Miranda
As for the ass shots, you're the first who appears to like them. We have a lot of sexy Miranda scenes that aren't as "focused" on one feature. The ass shots are too much "in-your-face" for my taste.
I'd say keep the option for sexy outfits for combat missions for those that want them. I'd imagine a large portion if not a majority would prefer it that way. No sense in excluding both camps. Combat armor can be worn on ship or combat missions - same with her regular outfits.
As far as the obvious ass shots (I'm assuming you are talking about the ones where it's zoomed in right on her ass)... I thought they were pretty awesome / funny. They could have over done it - in which case I'd agree there. But so far (still in my first play through) there are only two that I can think of. But I'm a man of reason. If polls indicated that a significant portion of players felt like it really soured their ME2 experience with her, then hey - remove them. I could live without them, unlike other aspects (her current look).
That's a problem with video games, hard to please everyone! What you might enjoy, other's hate with a passion. What you hate, others might love. :-D They just have to come to a middle ground which hopefully fits most players - which I think they probably nailed.
Aynway. I love Miranda as she is so far. Her personality is awesome. Love the looks. I want to see her the same way in ME3. I want to see the romance continued as well. I really hope she is a main character. I'm all for the optional armored look if that is what some folks want, but not at the exclusion of how she is now :-D

Miranda didn't bother to dignify that with a response. She waited until Shepard had gone before allowing herself to smile. The sex had been good once they'd gotten past the initial strangeness, but that by itself wouldn't have been remarkable. She remembered accidentally tickling Liara and laughing at herself for her clumsiness and presumption. She'd been days away from a suicide mission that had seemed to consume her every waking moment, and she had been able to laugh with Liara. She remembered curling up beside her afterwards, having finally made it to the bed, and talking. Nothing consequential: reminiscences of their first meeting on Omega, comparing the first Normandy to the second, the ever present annoyance that was Nos Astra bureaucracy. If anything years since she had stayed and talked after sex. The easy, comfortable conversation in the afterglow was something rare. She wanted more of that. And Liara wanted to see her again. She wouldn't dismiss the possibility out of hand. Not in a world where she could speak to Oriana and the entire crew could survive a supposed suicide mission.
And wasn't she being sentimental today? Perhaps it was best to take a break and get out of her office for a while before she started scribbling Liara's name in a notebook or something equally embarrassing. Dinner was hours away, and the mess was mostly deserted. Matthews and Patel sat across from each other, talking in low voices. They still seemed pale and haggard. As did the rest of the crew. It was only to be expected. None of them had ever spoken to her about their capture or what they'd experienced on the Collector base, and Miranda hadn't pried. Shepard was the one they loved, that they went to with their problems. He was the one they had followed into hell. She had been formally in charge of the Lazarus cell, but she had been much better at discreetly relocating their families than making inspiring speeches. Still, it wouldn't hurt to arrange counseling for everyone once their financial situation was less precarious.
"... heard Taylor told Shepard that Cerberus would be after us..."
Miranda froze and looked at them. The two crewmen seemed oblivious to her presence. She stood very still, listening carefully and hoping she had misheard.
"... think it's true?"
"... don't really know much about the Illusive Man, I was only recruited for this mission..."
"... bad stuff, but that was just an extranet rumor. I hope."
She felt cold. If the idea of reprisal had occurred to them, it had surely occurred to the rest of the crew. It had certainly occurred to her. She had hoped that the Illusive Man would be pragmatic enough to withhold retribution. She might have left Cerberus, but they were all still fighting the Reapers. It would make tactical sense to stab an ally in the back. But what if she were wrong? She'd already misjudged the Illusive Man once. What if he really was that vindictive?
The chill deepened. If the Illusive Man did want revenge, she had to be considered a prime target. She had been one of his most trusted operatives and she was the one who had disobeyed a direct order. It wouldn't even take that much. One message to her father revealing Oriana's location. If he was that cruel. And I didn't get to where I am by thinking the best of people. And if Cerberus did come for her, the rest of Lazarus Cell was also a target.
They lacked the resources to take on Cerberus directly. They could barely keep the ship operational. What they needed was a patron: someone powerful enough to protect not only her but the rest of the cell from reprisals against them or their families. Shepard was a nearly superhuman soldier, but even he had his limits. The mercenary companies were too weak and too unsavory even for her. The Alliance had been infected with Cerberus moles at every level. The Council was likely to arrest them all on sight. The Shadow Broker...
Now that was a possibility. Liara knew how important their mission was. She had said that she had assumed the position largely to help them fight the Reapers. Perhaps she could be persuaded to fund that mission. Perhaps she could be made to see how useful the members of the Lazarus Cell could be, useful enough that it was worth protecting them. Perhaps she could even convince her to protect Oriana. Liara didn't love her, but she seemed to have some measure of affection for Miranda, and Miranda was willing to trade on that if necessary. It might not work. She might strain her relationship with Liara to the breaking point. She had to try. For Oriana's sake and for the sake of those under her command.
She spared a last look at Matthews and Patel. They were still her responsibility, Cerberus or not. Shepard had said he would come up with something, but this was too important to leave to chance and moral certainty. A Shadow Broker agent had killed half her staff. She'd convince the new Broker to save the other. No matter what she had to do.

There is a nice little fanfic out there where they develop some respect for each other. It's convincingly written, and given a "Miranda resigns" scenario, I can see that happening. But they're too different personality-wise for anything more than comfortably working together.

Nice scene. I wonder what Shepard said that Miranda didn't dignify with a response. Apart from that, Miranda's got it hard in this scene, but she's self-aware enough to take it into consideration and not let it influence her work. I like that.
A misleading typo: I'm very sure "It would make tactical sense to stab an ally in the back" should actually be "It wouldn't make tactical sense to stab an ally in the back".

this. but dump the gratuitous ass-shots because they were OTT even for a fictional video-game. i liked the sexualised outfits (and unique ones for everyone) - not everything has to service some ill-defined definition of "realism" that some people have.

As I say, options are always good. But I also think there are limits for being able to choose style over common sense. Exposed skin in space is definitely beyond that limit, because it isn't only silly, it also adds no appeal to the characters. Transparent helmets would be just as stylish. You can even give them a permanent kinetic field around their heads, that would actually *add* to the style.FireWynd wrote...

Yep, the two you mention - one in the second conversation on the Normandy and one on the loyalty mission - are the main reason why this has become an issue. If camera angles are so heavy-handed that they become reasons why people dislike the character, no matter that that's a knee-jerk response, then something's definitely wrong. As far as the obvious ass shots (I'm assuming you are talking about the ones where it's zoomed in right on her ass)... Also, an outfit that *rightly* inspires comments like Enyala's is one I can't take seriously, and the attempt at humor is lost on me. Miranda's default outfit is one that I'd accept as an option (if they gave her a helmet in space), but as a default it's insulting.
You know, though I guess I'll come to prefer the more armored look I'd be satisfied with another non-armor outfit, as long as it doesn't look silly and over-the-top. I want to take my stories and my characters seriously. But yes, Miranda is awesome, I love her in her loyalty outfit - on the Normandy - and we all hope she'll come back in a significant capacity.Aynway. I love Miranda as she is so far.
