Yup I like it. Looks good, but the way she stands in the squad selection window in general is really attractive.

I agree Ieldra. She looks both stunning and extremely deadly. It suits the character perfectly: both aspects of her personality in a single unified whole.

Hopefully BW will bring her new armour (or at least something similar) to ME3. It shows they are listening so I can't see them not including it.

Yep. Hopefully.

I was waiting for the comic so I could do another run through of the game where I saved everything but the Council, but I guess this will be sufficient excuse. The only question remaining is which class should Shep be for ME2? I've already played through each class once (and soldier and infil twice). Suggestions ladies and gentlemen?

I always suggest Engineers, Prudii Aden. They're the most underrated class of the game.

My latest Shep is stuck on Mordin's recruitment mission (started directly after Freedom's Progress). Since we don't have many good scenes on Freedom's Progress and Miranda can't have her new armor on Minuteman Station (where I'd really like to see it), I don't need to replay anything.... I'll put this playthrough off until the 8th.

And another poster who fell for her competence and independence. Are you listening, Bioware?

Hehe, I'm not actually sure that I can emphasize the competence part enough.

I think Bioware has actually been decent in their depiction of strong women throughout their games.  I can draw up a list if anybody wants, but there seemed to be at least one tough chick in every one of their games that I can think of.  At the same time, however, I can't think of that many who actually seemed competent outside of the protagonist's influence, and didn't require rescuing at some point.  I know even Miranda needs a bit of saving at the end of ME2, but...  I don't know, she just seems a bit different in this respect.  :)

Well, for one thing, if you have to save her at the end, she will definitely save you. As she made quite a dramatic entrance and was never put in a position where she was weaker or less competent than any other squad member. Anything bad that happens to her can just as easily happened to Grunt The poster girl LI never needs to be saved by the hero. And, as you said, there's never a sense that she needs Shepard to function. Any association with him/her is something she wants. She doesn't need an emotional or physical white knight.

Well put.    Posted Image

Maybe I just like visualizing her in short golf shorts and a golf shirt.

I'm sorry, but exchanging "galactic operative badass" for "country club mother trying to get in nine holes while the kids are at swim practice" is about the worst thing that could happen to her in my mind.   **** golf.

Miranda keeping her competence and independence is something of an obsession for me. Please no Damsel in Distress situations. I want the same professionally capable operative I fell for. Not to discount her emotion regarding Shep and Oriana, but I've never had to beg creators to make a female character more emotional. She isn't the white picket fence type.

No, she meant they usually make them emotional enough that it's enough - and often more than that. Women who remain competent and independent, and rational and cool under stress, even when romanced, are far less common, so we have to beg for them.

Bioware has had a decent history, and we have Tali for the more traditional romance LI slot, so I am somewhat optimistic, but it doesn't hurt to remind people of it.

What Ieldra said. I've seen to many competent female character suddenly not be able to tie their own shoes because they met the hero. They need him to save them where they didn't before and previous skills and non-romance goals vanish. That's what I don't want for Miranda.

I can't wait to see her in the armor in my game. I wish she'd been in the armor a year ago. I bet it would have done wonders for her popularity

@g54: Where did you get that? **impatient finger-twiddling**

I'm in the middle of Mordin's recruitment mission. Every time I see Miranda, I think "I want that armor". Embarrassing, really, to be that excited about a piece of clothing in a video game...

I'm the same way Ieldra, except I'm trying to slog through ME1 before Tuesday, so I can have my canon!Shep all ready to kick tail with newly-armored Miranda.

Seeing Miranda in her new armor (and to a lesser extent, Tali) is reason enough for me to play this game again.

Gawd, we are all such nerds.

But you won't able to see her wearing that armor in the beginning of the game to Freedom's Progess.

So what are some plausible functions for the visor? I'm clueless about this sort of thing.

It reminds me of Kasumi's visor when she accesses her graybox.

I assume it's primarily for displaying heads up tactical info. In combat, it would display sensory info picked up by her omni-tool and/or suit.

Still not as cool as Garrus's visor.  But then again, no one else's freaking VISOR got a Shadow Broker entry.  They're all just jealous

Is it bad that I'm tempted to restart my ManShep playthrough of ME2 just so I can have the new armor for Miranda from the get-go?

Although, as Shepard tells Grunt, she doesn't plan on living like this forever. What do you imagine Miranda wants to do "someday"? She obviously wants kids at some point (or she wouldn't have talked to a doctor about it) and I imagine Shepard could convince her to adopt some.

Or has she never let herself think that far ahead (for fear of becoming distracted and thus never getting there, per the cliche)?
