While I know this thread isn't about getting as many pages as possible, I simply need to post this anyway.

Fair enough on the "best friend" line, but what she gave up is a spoiler for a later story, though you can probably guess.

What do you think would happen if Shepard faked his death during the final battle? Would the Batarians accept it and stop their war plans? If they insisted on figthing, would the Council finally decide to step in to force peace? And would Miranda help Shepard do this, romance or not?

I think Miranda would help Shepard do this. It is a scenario she would like. I can even see her having supported faked death plots in the past when recruiting people for Cerberus.

@Jebel Krong:
Nice wallpapers!

@all:
Expect the page count comments to be removed by the mods. It has happened before.

What odd quirks do you guys think Miranda would have? For example, she'd pretend to be a conductor when she's listening to Nielsen alone, or maybe she always has strawberries after a mission, and so on and so forth.

Hey! First time poster here :)
I think Miranda had the most 'zing!' line in ME2. When you tell her to remember who's in charge, and she tells you "Oh, I remember. I write reports and send them to him every day." Damn you Miranda for owning me so hard.

Welcome Nyoka. Rare to see someone new after all this time. And yes, I like that reply. I think we all like that Miranda can stand up to Shepard. Though I am not using Shepard's line that triggers it most of the time, because my Shepards are smart enough to know that TIM has them on the strings for the time being.

@Katie:
jtav suggested that Miranda likes to drive vehicles at high speeds. I have incorporated that into my version of Miranda and extended it from aircars to boats.

Hey i just wanted to pop in and say that i really love Miranda's new outfit. I like her more now because she actually looks like someone who can fight now. I know she could before, but now she is not doing it in a skin tight jumpsuit!

She is a smart and powerful woman and i feel like now when i look at her i don't feel sad that she has been so sexualized. Not that her sexuality is a bad thing, but 20 butt angles every time i talk to her is kind of an insult to me.

You say what most others here think, Sashimi_taco. Though there have been almost violent disagreements about Miranda's AAP2 armor. Perhaps, given the generally good response, when we see Miranda in ME3 it will be with a little more understated sexuality, and with no asses pushed into our faces.

Not that I would've minded seeing more of her in the romance scene.... confusing, this, really. Inappropriate ass shots all over the game, and at the point where showing more would've been appropriate - nothing.

@jtav:
Interesting chapter. I'll keep reading it. And I rescind what I said earlier. Miranda is different. That bitterness isn't present in your earlier stories. There appear to be several reasons for it. You've told me one. I'm curious about the others.

I saw the cover for the new Mass Effect novel expected this fall (which of course won't be available here in the Netherlands), and it looks like Miranda's on the cover! That's pretty exciting, isn't it? It could of course mean a lot of things, but at least here role in ME3 will be revealed a little bit.

Pretty sure that's Gillian Grayson. Unless Bioware comes out and establishes some canon (For example, no matter the player's choices in ME1, Udina will be Councilor in ME3),  Dietz can't write a book about a squadmate and LI who migth have died in the Suicide Mission.
Just imagine what would happen if they made Miranda the main character of the book. First, anyone who isn't a Miranda fan would demand books about their favorite characters. If Miranda made references about an emotional entanglement with Shepard, Femsheps and other mancers would complains. If she didn't, we would.
And the least we say about mentioning Shepard's decisions in ME2, the better. She wouldn't even need to mention them, TIM treating Miranda cordially is all it would take to start a "Keep Base" vs "Destroy Base" war.

What can I say? I am a Miranda fan and while I would like to see a book featuring her, I would also fear what the author would do to her. Miranda requires subtlely to get right, and the books so far written for the ME franchise aren't exactly shining examples of that.

From http://sf-fantasy.su...fect-novel.html

"In MASS EFFECT: DECEPTION, Gillian was once the subject
of horrifying scientific experiments, but now, after her rescue, she is
beginning to master her amazing powers. When she falls under the sway
of a radical group who believe their powers make them superior to
ordinary humans, she finds herself faced with a choice between her
destiny…and her humanity."

As for ME3 news that we should be getting this month (end of month or so)

*shakes head*

If you were sick enough to need her, you wouldn't have eyes for her. If you have eyes for her, you aren't sick enough to need her.

As for Gillian and ME:Deception: isn't it ironic that given Miranda's father's notion of genetic superiority, the same scenario could be easily adapted to Miranda? You only need to change the "biotic supremacist" angle I see coming in the book to something more general.

BTW, I wonder if it's occured to people that you can embrace your gifts and see them as profiting humanity without embracing the notion of a master race. I wonder where the book will be going, but I dislike attempts to discredit the idea of genetic improvements by linking it to the master race concept. I would dislike Gillian to reject her "amazing powers" altogether because of this.
