Miranda's storyline in ME3 should be divided into two major story arcs, IMO. The first one would be more focused on Cerberus with one of these things happening:

a) Miranda is doing her best to cause dissent amongst Cerberus's ranks. This would happen if Shepard blew up the Base.
b)Miranda is a double or even triple agent whose loyalties ultimately lie with Shepard and she is trying to destroy Cerberus from the inside out. Assuming, of course, that The Illusive Man's unlogical wrath is focused solely on Shepard. This would happen if Shepard preserved the Base.
c) Miranda could be blackmailed to turn against Shepard, temporarily of course. Personally, I don't like this one because if Miranda resigned, logically the first thing she whould do is attend to Oriana's protection which I hope just happened offscreen. So, unless Shepard gave the Base to Cerberus, I don' see this blackmail plot happening.

Or Miranda could have resigned from Cerberus despite Shepard's choice regarding the Base and we will re encounter her on whatever planet Oriana has been relocated to.
Personally, I think this would be a waste but maybe that's just me.

After the final confrontation with Cerberus; in which I hope there will be Shepard and Miranda teamworking to kill Kai Leng and the option to have Miranda replace The Illusive Man instead of simply destroying Cerberus; Miranda could become a permanent squadmate and the second story arc would be more Romance/Friendship oriented (it could even be Romance-exclusive and all LIs would have something similar), perhaps we could even finally confront Mr.Lawson. I can already see having to cut through an army of "Mirandas". Pure nigthmare fuel, rigth there. So much worse than the Human-Reaper.

Here's a question that - believe it or not - I don't think anyone has every asked on any of the Miranda threads:

What's your most favorite line spoken by, to or about Miranda in ME2?

My favorite is - unsurprisingly - Liara's question in LotSB: "What are you fighting for? The future of humanity, as evidenced by the perfect Ms. Lawson?"

What's yours?

@MisterJB:
Quite the story arc you've developed there. I think we will see some of it, but I don't think Miranda's father will figure into it in a big way. There's only so much content you can create for one LI character if you have 9 to contend with.

Anytime someone asks me "what are you fighting for" in an RPG, I can't help but think of Final Fantasy. Specifically IV, when Cecil becomes a Paladin.

Hmm... too hard really but one of my top ten (and the one that I think most people forget she says)...

Miranda: "I noticed, consider this my resignation."

Favorite Lines would have to be:
"Reactivating the Geth is a risk. If you do so, it should be for Humanity's best interests and not your curiosity." Called me on the carpet in this one. Actually, add to that everytime she shuts Shepard up. From remiding me that The Illusive Man is in charge to defending Cerberus's experiments on Husks, etc,
"So, don't die. You promise me, damn it.
"No, it is."
And here's a controversial one.
"I noticed, consider this my resignation.

What I am suggesting is simlar to the Loyalty Missions but romance exclusive. People who didn't romance Miranda don't get to see her father just like people who didn't romance Tali don't step foot on the Quarian homeworld.
Since we had 12 missions such as these in ME2, I think 9 would be manageable.

@Ieldra: I actually have a few favourite lines spoken by Miri herself, the first is from Miri's CGI Fight for the Lost character movie: "I don't have patience for incompetence or recklessness or heroes. I'll complete this mission because of you or in spite of you. I'll follow your orders. I'll follow you into battle. But you'll have to fight to earn my trust."

Why BW didn't include this in the game is beyond me, this would have really given Shepard evidence that he/she's dealing with a woman thats as headstrong as he is from the start, could have been Miri's response to Sheps attempts to be sociable before Freedom's Progress for example.

Second favourite line/scene with Miri is her mid-stage relationship conversation where she finally opens up to Shepard and IMO shows real affection towards him: Shep: "Any one of us could die...we could all be dead tomorrow" Miri: "So don't die, you promised me damn it!".

And of course, the great moment where she puts TIM in his place and shows her loyalties to Shepard and the team by resigning from Cerberus...sets up quite a few interesting possibilities for ME3 also, which I am quite looking forward to as long as she is an LI and squad member

"Miranda? But you're supposed to be--" (shot) "Dead?"
"Every one of your accomplishments is due to your skill. The only things I can take credit for are my mistakes." Chokes me up every time.
"There she is...safe...with her family."

That one ruins the moment completely for me. In theory it's a great line but all I can think of is when a really similar line is used in the movie Team America in an all but equally pretty moment.

I happen to like Miranda's line if Shep didn't romance any ME2 squaddies.

"Good luck, Shepard. See you on the other side."

As she salutes...maybe it's just the scene in general since it shows how Miranda has come full circle since the beginning where she was simply cold and calculating and now she's saluting you - she's understands that you are in charge and not TIM.

My top 5 favorite Miranda lines:
1. You'll die for that, b*tch!
2. You ass...
3. So don't die on me! You promise me, dammit!
4. Worried about my qualifications?
3. I've cleared out the engine room. Be there in 5 minutes.

i actually don't find any one line of miranda's particularly memorable, what i do find memorable is pretty much all of her loyalty mission - especially her looking at Oriana at the end (before and after talking to her) - the whole thing was epic, right from the start and shepard's renegade interrupt was the best/bad-ass moment in the game for me, and also the surprising tenderness of the engine room scene.

I got one, probably no one's favourite at all, but the way she says it. If you side with Jack and asks if things are okay between both of you and she replies with "Not even remotely..." Sends chills down my spine.

suffice to say i only heard that once (and just to find out what the reaction was) - what sane person would ever side with jack?

Apparently, those people for whom Miranda is nothing more but an incarnation of Cerberus - an accusation which should have considerably less substance after her LM.

Otherwise, I agree that way she delivers her lines make them memorable more than the actual content. The whole loyalty mission was great in that.

I sided with Jack on the one occasion that I was unable to defuse the situation with a high enough Paragon/Renegade score.  Later on, I respecced and took the 100% P/R score boost and talked to Miranda, explaining that I sided with Jack 'cause she had to be handled with kid gloves, and that I could at least reason with Miranda.  That was honestly a far more satisfying conclusion than "Please wait to kill each other, kthnx!"

I don't like siding with Jack because I feel like I'm encouraging her worst tendencies. The confrontation never felt very balanced. It's in Miranda's office, which implies Jack stormed in there. Jack is also the one throwing things. If I'm harsher on Miranda, it's only because I hold her to a higher standard of behavior.

Yes! More of that Miranda in ME3!

I take it that TIM and Miranda will eventually be enemies in ME3. That scene with TIM instead of Wilson would be awesome. Though I'd regret his demise more....

Yes, more. That was the moment I first sat up and took notice. Why can't I romance that Miranda?

On the subject of a favorite line, I'm not sure, but the one I'll always remember is this: I had just finished off the last baddie in a long battle and a couple of seconds later Miri yelled(apparently still in battle mode) in an absolutely distraught tone of voice "I'm exposed". Since I have finished the battle, my first association was lack of "cover" cover and that coupled with the utter dismay in her voice (kudos, Yhvonne) almost made me fell of my chair from laughing :D

Just a little food for thought:

Has it occurred to anyone how many of the aspects of Miranda's character the game shows is are connected in some way to the theme of procreation - or more broadly spoken, to the making of life? We have the "traditional" angle in her being sexually attractive *and* sexually active, the fact she's one of only two human female LIs, then her infertility which has drawn more attention to this than any other element in the game. And we have the more SFal aspects like her genetic engineering, the fact she's brought Shepard back from the dead and she's a life sciences expert.

Apart from the more generic personality traits who could be carried by anyone, her only major aspect not connected to that theme is "Miranda the badass operative" - and we don't see so much of that in the game.

I'm wondering if this observation should make me somewhat wary with regard to what kind of Miranda to expect in ME3. I've repeatedly said I like that whole genetic engineering angle, and would like to see it explored more fully, and that would require that the writers delve into all that stuff again. But I don't want Miranda to be reduced to it. I want "Miranda the human woman 2.0", but also "Miranda the badass operative" and "Miranda the detached pragmatic"....and yes, also a somewhat romantic Miranda as long as they don't go over the top with that. Should I have forgotten anything, please consider it added.

Here's a thought, much of Miranda's dialogue and actions (not all of it but a good portion) revolved around advocating Cerberus and acting as TIM's agent. With those responsibilities nullified what role will she take on now, not just in relation to taking down Cerberus bit in regards to helping earth in general.
