Hey guys got some news that any love interest you had will be a squad mate in ME3 :)

(There's a pretty decent spoiler there at the end but theres plenty of warning)

http://masseffectclu.../blog/40384205/

"And any love interest chosen in ME2 will also be squad mates."

Incorrect.
Unless we hear otherwise...which we haven't; Neither magazine or Bioware has said anything about ME2 romance squadmates being guaranteed a spot on your team (permanent)

"If you coupled up in ME1 and your partner is still alive, they're guaranteed to be a member of your crew."

Which we already know is true regarding VS and Liara

The guy says its ME2 when in fact it was mentioned in for ME1

Edit: NINJA!

What the article in the PC Gamer magazine said is that if you had an LI in Mass Effect 1, he/she will definitively be a squadmate.
That doesn't mean the same thing applies to the ME2 LIs.

This is such bull****!

And it's unfair. Bioware mentions the me1 li's SO damn much that it's like they're saying that the me1 li's are the only li's. I'm an ME2 Romancer for crying out loud. And I always heve been. Posted Image

Something to get our minds off ME3.

[2170, Eden Prime]

A woman I didn't recognize stood with her back to me talking to my aunt and uncle. They navy blazer she wore seemed to cling to her like a second skin, and did nothing at all to take away from her curves. She wasn't some twiggy borderline anorexic like our model had been. I could see a patch of pale skin that stood out sharply against shoulder length dark hair. She stiffened slightly and turned suddenly to stare at me.

She should've been gorgeous. Her cheekbones were high and prominent, her skin nearly flawless. Eddie would have been drooling over her breasts. Her eyes were a soft blue a few shades lighter than my own. Every feature was perfectly formed. It was like someone had taken all the things we usually found attractive about women and put them in one person. She was perfect. And that was the problem. Humans aren't perfect. An eye might be a millimeter higher than the other, or there will be little scars or moles. She was a marble statue brought to life, but what was beautiful in a statue was eerie when applied to a human being.

She strode forward and held out her hand. "Matthias Shepard?" Her voice was harsh and cold with some Earth accent I couldn't place.

The hair on the back of my neck stood up again. What had I done to attract the interest of this strange, unearthly woman? She looked like she was young enough to still be in college. The only thing I could think of was that the Alliance had somehow found out what I'd done, but I couldn't see any official insignia. "That's me." I took her hand tentatively.

Her group was surprisingly strong. She probably could've crushed my fingers if she'd wanted to. "My name is Miranda Lawson. I'm with the Milky Way Foundation. I wanted to talk to you about your biotics."

****. My mind was racing. There had to be a way out of this. There had to. I hadn't worked so hard and holding myself together to get carted away now. "I'm not a biotic. That's crazy!"

She smiled, and it somehow made her even creepier. "Oh, I rather think you are. There's a batarian in Alliance custody who swears you through a salt shaker at him using biotics. According to your medical history, you don't have any implants."

"Because I'm not a biotic."

She ignored me. "Being able to lift and throw something without implants is extraordinary. Normally people can only manage shifting papers or small qualities of sand. You, Mr. Shepard, may just be the most powerful biotic humanity has ever seen."

Very interesing, jtav. I like the biotics angle. Is that from an already-published story? I recall hearing the name of your Shepard before, but don't quite recall where.

Won't get my mind off ME3 though. I keep imagining scenarios where Shepard won the war against the Reapers but Miranda is not there for him. :(

I'm not jumping to conclusions. But he's right. Right now Bioware sounds as if the ME1 LIs are the only legitimate ones. Which *is* bullsh*t from where I'm coming, and I resent it. I just hope I needn't retreat into fanon to have Miranda in a significant role.

I'm wondering if killing everyone but Miranda and someone else won't increase her chances of being a squadmate.
It's worth the shot.

I don't think so. She's going to be an important part of the narrative, squad mate or not. Killing people off to shoe in another character as a squaddie is not likely one of the mechanics they're tweaking. Now that would, involve too many variables. Worth a try though. I'd do it for fun..

I think her loyalty is to Shepard at the end of ME2 regardless of your decision. As Cerberus will be out to get Shepard in ME3 regardless of your decision, I don't think she'll still be with them.

If such a thing is true, it's a good thing that a decent proportion of my Sheps left the LI behind on Virmire. Those that didn't? Well there's always the ME2 save game editor for before importing!

Likely that won't work. The ME1 flags in Gibbed's editor only work if you re-import that character into a new ME2 game after editing. So likely you'd need to re-play ME2 to get it to work that way.

As for Miranda in ME3, I'm beginning to resent Garrus and Tali more and more. I've always said the main point of my disliking them is that while I mildly like them as characters, they'll steal screen time from my favorites, and at the moment it appears that effect will manifest to the fullest. Hearing their fans crow their triumph doesn't help.

So far I haven't resented Ash and Kaidan because I like them more, but that's to change for sure if they don't give Miranda a comparable presence. In fact, I'll hate alsmot everyone in ME3 should that happen.

I give Ashley and Kaidan a pass after what the fans got at Horizon. They were ignored for the most part since ME2's release up until now. But yeah, Garrus is cool and all but we've had him and Tali for two games now. Where's the Miranda news Bioware?

It's like the Cerberus hate on BSN spilled over into the development of certain characters.

I'm still holding on to hope that they are just holding back her confirmation for a big event(E3?)

Exactly. Ashley's and Kaidan's fans deserved a little preferential treatment after ME2. Also they're human (which is always a consideration for me when it comes to LIs) and I like them more, even if not nearly as much as Miranda.

But to have almost the whole ME1 team as permanent team members and only those from ME2 which already appeared in ME1? I know its early, but they could at least throw us a bone. This silence...... Btw besides Miranda which goes without saying I also want Jacob back in a significant capacity and there's less chance of that.

We'll know something when we know something. No sense being resentful of other fanbases. I highly doubt we'll have no ME2 exclusive characters in the squad, and I'm still thinking Miranda will be at least a temp. And, even if not, there's too much about ME3 that sounds really interesting.

Ieldra, Matt's my canonShep who's torn between Miranda and Liara.

Do you remember how long it took them to reveal the squad mates for ME2? The returning characters from ME1?
It was a lot longer than what we've been waiting so far.
Right not we are in the first (second if you count the initial trailer) wave of the marketing phase for ME3.
The second (or third) phase seems to be at E3.

I'll admit I'm starting to worry a bit, but I won't plunge into full-fledged panic mode until after E3. If we get no info then regarding Miri being a permanent squadmate, then it'll start to get ugly for me.

I think the probability of all the LI choices returning are good.  It's the best way to create conflict in the game if your ME1 and 2 choices were different.

Here's a question triggered by jtav's excerpt:

Based on the premise that Miranda looks so perfect that she doesn't look quite lifelike any more - as hinted at in the excerpt - would she use cosmetics to make herself look less perfect?

Note that I don't agree with the premise in the first place. Regular features are a hallmark of beauty even they're perfectly regular, and Miranda looks attractive as she is and doesn't need artificial downgrading. But just in case Miranda herself would subscribe to the premise, would she use cosmetics to make herself a little less perfect. And I mean this in a general sense. There's no question she'd do it if her job required it. But would she do it as a rule if there was no obvious reason to do so?

The question I think we have to ask first is how does she look in the first place? Her face in game is firmly in the uncanny valley. Her face is absolutely symmetrical. Human faces aren't. If she actually looks like that photo manip, the point is moot. But I think she'd use uncanny looks as an intimidation tactic.

In my mind this is Miranda. She doesn't need make up. If she does wear it it's to "fit in" as to not look "perfect".

Also I think someone brought up the comparison of Temperence Brennan from Bones. It's not a spot on match, but both characters are in fact emotionally stunted due to both of their upbrings. Shepard says himself. "It's funny, I think of you as all business. Nice to see there's a person under there." And she more or less acknowledges it when she say she's not funny like Oriana. I think this is what turns a lot of the "haters" off to her character. She's all logic and no emotion because that's all she knows or thinks she knows.

My $0.02

Except that Bones has a certain innocence to her which leads to her being very socially awkward but still open towards people
Not so with Miranda.

For those of you who don't like the engine room scene,, I just found out something really nifty from Collider. Turning Miranda down during the romance scene does not break the romance.

Niice.
If that's confirmed, I'll need to replay a few of my Shepards (*groan* - all the DLCs again). How does he know?

I did that too on my second run just to see what would happen.
After the SM mission I could still call Miranda up to my cabin as well as get the same talk about "being interested in her" where you could break it off if you wanted to.

I thought this was old news though? Really, you guys never tried that option just to see what would happen? Heh.
