oh i wouldnt say that. they only heavily mention Jack because of her big redesign so she's easier to talk about without going into story details.

Every character is getting a redesign:

"We have to update the look," Watts continues, referring to Jack, Ashley and Kaidan's refesigns "And the people who redesign the characters are the same people who did the original characters; and they know best how these things are supposed to mature. Stuff changes. Garrus' armour is going to change. Even Shepard has changed quite a bit. His armour has changed a lot since the first Mass Effect"

PLUS:

The last part especially the italicized part is what made me think they are looking at some squadmates being temps/camoes

Would Bioware put some LI as cameos and some as temp?

EDIT: I agree on Zaeed being cameo since he was DLC...

That is what worried me the most. Thane is a freaking LI.
There's still the chance he is recruitable, only later in the game, but this is starting to scare the besejus out of me.

Back as a squad member, Vertigo. So, I'm right, that's VS, Jack, Garrus, Tali, James, and Liara so far. That's six. Mordin, Wrex, Legion, and Thane are all cameos. That leaves Samara, Jacob, Grunt, Kasumi and Miranda. I'd bet money Grunt is a squaddie and Samara isn't. Kasumi is also a likely cameo. That leaves Miranda and Jacob as wildcards.

Theory: one or the other is killed by Kai Leng if both survived.

Where do you see "JACK IS BACK AS SQUADMEMBER" that in the article?
I read the magazine...they talk about redesigning Jack...nothing in it says shes a squadmate

"Jack is back, as is Garrus." Garrus was previously confirmed. Mirdin was confirmed elsewhere as not returning as a full squad member. Thee way the sentences are written makes me think Jack is in the same group as Garrus and Zaeed and Thane are in the same group as Mordin.

Mordin was confirmed as being seen in game by GameInformer Magazine (it says "Seen but unconfirmed as squadmates")

Jack being back could mean:
"Jack is back as cameo"
"Jack is back as temp"
"Jack is back as perm-squadmate"

Untill we know for sure I'm taking it as Jack (and everyone who survived in ME2 squadwise is back) is back.

And since Casey Hudson posted on twitter (which seems no one bothered to look at) that all previous LIs would get a resolution then It's safe to assume they put more effort to LIs than say they might have with Zaeed...

Miranda's popular, she's the leading female and plot critical in ME2, she's a required squad mate, she has a prolific voice actress, her writer is still on the team, she's a love interest (the main one advertised for ME2), she's on the cover, and is the least likely to die on the suicide mission. She has more bases covered than Garrus or Tali, who both came back.

I'm also upset cuz one of the primary reasons I choose Miranda in ME2 was because I wanted my shep to have human kids and Liara can't do that for me. Well that and she wasn't there when I needed her most.
