I'd prefer Miranda to stay a free agent. I have Shepards who aren't too fond of the Alliance, and will like them considerably less after the trial. I can see her working against Cerberus, but on her own behalf and to find out why they are after Shepard, not as a job for the Alliance.

@ExtremeOne:
Yes, that quote is already well known. We think she might be in trouble somewhere, but hope she'll be able to free herself from it with little help from Shepard. Two scenes how that might happen have been posted on the previous pages.

Yes!  I think so too.  I have Shepards who are not too fond of the Alliance and now recently with the damn trial and making him "their" scapecoat. :o

We don't even know what we don't know. I've come up with scenarios that I would really enjoy and scenarios that make me rethink the idea of having Miranda survive the suicide mission. I can see Miranda being something of a resistance fighter against Cerberus. I can also see her as being Kai Leng's victim or a reluctant traitor who came crawling back to Cerberus to save her sister. It's difficult to get a handle on it because Miranda's characterization is all over the place. For every suggestion competence and independent, there's also something that suggests that she's a woman dominated by her emotions in a bad way, who projects only the illusion of competence.

Many, many people distrust Miranda because of her 'Implant control chip' comment.... I would hate to seem them vindicated.... instead I would much prefer them to see the character and convictions that Miranda has, that most of us have seen by the end of ME2.

I don't believe her to be a woman dominated by her emotions, more that she is distrustful of nearly everyone, and prefers instead to keep everyone at a professional distance, something that I think scares her with her feelings over Shepard. I think in many ways, given her background, her flaws around her need to be perfect and be 100%, Miranda depending on someone else, and moreover that she feels that she can depend on someone else, or indeed others (i.e. the whole SM team) - all this is brand new to her... so it's like Baby steps in many ways... wants to progress but also cautious over doing anything to fast that might make her feel more vulnerable.

How does that sound to you? I think this would make both her capture and her need for Shepard's help believable without making her appear weak. Kai Leng's entrance is a bit stereotypical, but I guess a little of stereotypical vlllain behavior might be in character for him.
Slightly changed this would also be a great introduction to Miranda for new players.

There are people who want to add Kai Leng to their squad. If your scenario is how it plays out (it also meshes with my theory about how the fight with Cerberus starts), adding him had better be optional. I'd prefer killing him more than adding him.

I really hope Miranda comes back in ME3 she is the best character! also i have a big soft spot for Yvonne i fully support this thread, also it proves that she does have a deeper character when most people just brush her of as a character

Agreed.

Miri is MY LI. Always has been. Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

For me, she quits Cerberus. So I hope that My Romance with Miri turns out for the best and that she is a Suadmate in ME3.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

I'm hoping Miranda comes back in ME3 and I'm hoping its not just dependent on if she's Shep's LI, because I always play female. I'm always a fan of a ****y character with a soft side.

You have a point. I doubt Miranda's return will be contingent on her being your LI, as that would hurt the players who have FemSheps but like Miranda, such as yourself.

If they do alternate team members I'd rather have them not depend on the LI status but on player choice and possibly story decisions. One of my femSheps is best friends with Miranda. They're two of a kind and would miss each other keenly.

I was wondering if you guys had an suggestion for pacing Miranda's dialogue? I find myself almost always exhausting the possibilities too early for my liking.

jtav: This is how I do it.

First time aboard the Normady SR2
"No doubt you've got a lot of questions."

Recruit Mordin, Garrus, Grunt and Subject Zero.
"I'm impressed, Shepard. So far things have gone exceptionally well."
(Shepard cured a plague, took out three mercenary groups, fougth his way across a warzone and blew up the Galaxy's safest prison in order to recruit everyone he was supossed to and did so without a single casualty. Miranda would be impressed)

After Horizon
"Shepard, I find myself in the unpleasant position of asking for your help."

Finish LM and recruit both Thane and Samara
"Thanks again, Shepard. Taking the time to help me with my sister..."
(it wouldn't make sense to leave Illium without recruiting them first just to talk to Miranda)

After the Collector Cruiser
"I... wanted to apologize. I didn't fully believe you'd be up to the task. And it seems I was wrong."
(Again, Miranda would be impressed by Shepard getting everyone safely out of a death trap)

After the Derelict Reaper or after the crew gets abducted
"I don't know what this is! If this is stress, or just blowing off steam, or..."

This last one is the one I have most doubts about. Logically, it would make more sense for Miranda to be worried about Shepard's life rigth before going through the Relay, hence after the crew is abducted.
However, if you do this and you want to have Mordin's last talk (about his nephew) rigth before going through the Relay, he won't give you sex advice regarding your relationship with Miranda, instead, he thinks you're coming on to him.

Also I don't want her helpless, even if she's decided to let herself be captured. I want her to do something awesome and introduce herself to new players with a bang.

In the situation I described, she would free herself, of course. I simply tought that came without saying.

True, but at the end of the day she still risked Shephard's life

Well, everyone risks Shepard's life on a daily basis. It's like people think he likes being under fire.

TIM has been feeding you information throughout the entire game, so I think it's a bit unfair to assume that's he's been doing 'nothing.'

TIM has an important role and without him, we would never have defeated the Collectors. But,at the end of the day, he sends people to death traps while he sits safely on his fortress. It's understandle but c'mon, even Anderson is grabbing an Assault Rifle in ME3 and TIM has field experience.

Anyway, I don't think we're going to get any closer to persuading the other person into accepting our views as 'fact' on this issue, and since it doesn't have much to do with Miranda herself, it's probably as OT as what can be allowed. I'm more than okay to putting this into PM if you are (unless you want to continue here I spose :D)

I don't think it's necessary. I was just saying that if Horizon was indeed a trap, it could have been handled a lot better, but eventually, it all boils down to gameplay mechanics.
Just one thing, I didn't say destroy the Cruiser. I said board him, kill the Collectors, retrieve its IFF and then study it. As dangerous as that migth be.

Honestly, I don't see the difference. Intellectually I do, but Cerberus repeats the cause as a personal motto, so I think the two are as virtually indistinguishable from each other as Cerberus is from TIM himself.

This is important because it's possible for Miranda to lose faith in and even resign from Cerberus while remaining loyal to the cause.

"It's understandle but c'mon, even Anderson is grabbing an Assault Rifle in ME3 and TIM has field experience" Tim hasn't fought in a war since the 50s.... I think he'd be a lil rusty. lol

@jtav

This is my pace.

Talk to Kelly, Joker, Jacob, Miranda, and other Cerberus crew when first boarding.
Then I talk to squad as I recruit them. Jack, Grunt, Garrus, and Mordin.

Right before Horizon, second round of convos with the whole team.

After Horizon initate LM through conversation. Then talk to each squaddie post-LM.
After all LMs are done and Kasumi, Zaeed (after Collector Ship) are recruited. I get ready for Derelict Reaper.

Right before the IFF mission I have the "You're hard to compliment/You're Jealous" conversation.

Right before the crew gets abducted I have the "No Promises" conversation.

That's not exactly reassuring. Is my English comprehension not up to it or does that mean something like "almost"?

That's because while there are positive news about Miranda - she will be in ME3, she will have a role that can be spoiled - the news about certain other team members are so much more so. Granted, we have much less to fear than Jacob's or Thane's fans, but that's small consolation in the light of the blatant favoritism with Garrus and Tali.

And you know, I could live with Miranda's non-permanent team member status, if I didn't think that would reduce the amount of interaction to a pittance in comparison. If there is to be more squad banter, for instance, the permanent team members will by necessity have about 500% more. In the end it's all about story connection and the amount of possible interaction with her. In both, I find the idea that Miranda is a lesser presence not acceptable.

And I'm not truly negative. The problem is the information is so vague that I get pulled here and there by the slightest bit. That state of mind is very uncomfortable.
