It still makes no sense. Research would not prevent her from taking part in missions. Just like it didn't prevent Mordin in ME2. Should my favorite scenario come true and she'll take over Cerberus after the current management has been removed, then she might have enough to do to not take part in missions, but then I'd also expect her to be absent from the Normandy for a while.Vertigo_1 wrote...

From what I am seeing through all that is covered, my gut tells me that Miranda will be a temporary squad mate but will still be a crew member of the SR-2.
That doesn't make sense to me...if she is capable and on the ship shouldn't she be readily available as a squadmate?
Unless she is in some situation where her scientific capabilities will be required on the Normandy?
(maybe with Mordin?)
That makes me somewhat at ease. Still...
No, I don't think she'll be on the Normandy while not being a team member.
BTW, just read CH's Twitter statements. He said "love interests will not necessarily be permanent squadmates". So that hypothesis is out of the window. But it's still vague - does he mean some LIs will not be permanent team members, or does he mean there are conditions under which LIs can or cannot be permanent team members? Will we, perhaps, have a choice about taking our LI into our team or letting her do something else, perhaps something more important? That wouldn't make sense for every LI, but Miranda is competent enough that I can see that as a hard decision. Do I want her at my side, or do I want her to use her capabilities to the fullest and do something very important independently from Shepard, coming back to me only near the end? Depending on exactly what that important task is, I might prefer to take the latter option for my main Shepard.
