But since the dossiers are canonical as said by ...hmm...don't recall, either Patrick Weekes or Casey Hudson, and since Miranda's gave her a serious problem instead of something funny but inconsequential like they gave the other team members, you cannot ignore it.

They can retcon it for all I care. Let her have an email saying it was a misdiagnosis so it need never come up in dialogue again. Let the SB's info be faulty. That would be cheap and an incredible waste of dramatic potential, but at least it would be dealt with. The one thing you cannot do with such a problem, that will affect many people's experience of the romance, is to ignore it.

@ Ieldra, except that it decidedly doesn't affect the romance, precisely because it's only ever mentioned in the one place and not during said romance. if, in ME3, Miranda mentions it (hopefully and highly unlikely) then, yes it's canon and therefore should/would be dealt with, but that hasn't happened.

and what patrick weekes said was: that the dossiers were written to take into account the possibility of being canon, it does not automatically make them canon. he also qualified their potential for inaccuracy because of the info sources.

one thing that would really spoil miranda's character, is falling into the "common woman" cliche trap (which you see a lot in other media, and where she could, for one, be obsessed with the reproduction thing and that then bleed over into the game and her focus within it); which she blatantly is not and shouldn't ever be.

That's not what he said. He said they don't break the fourth wall in their games, so everything in the game is canon including the dossiers. Though they may be unreliable information. Which means there are two possibilities:

(1) Miranda's dossier is unreliable information and the info about her infertility is wrong. If so, then I want to be told. It doesn't matter to me how much space it takes up the game - a conversation topic, an email, one cursory mention in an email etc.. I just want to be told.

(2) The information in Miranda's dossier is correct. Then I want an option to make it clear that this isn't the last word and there are ways around the problem if Miranda wants that. Again I don't care how much space that will take up in the game, a conversation topic, one line of text or an email, it doesn't matter.

I agree with you that Miranda as a character should not be obsessed with reproduction and it definitely shouldn't color the plot, but since they introduced this as a character element and it has the possibility to influence many players' experience with the romance, even if it only plays out in their imagination, the one thing they cannot do is ignore it.

I have proposed dealing with this in one line in the epilogue, with three options where we basically can determine how things stand: indifference, acceptance or the determination to circumvent it. It doesn't need to be mentioned anywhere else in the game. You can't tell me that would spoil Miranda's character.

Thanks. Very nice. I notice I still haven't reviewed your story -  I'll get to it, all I can say it this point is that it's appreciated. I certainly didn't expect that last twist - things are bound to get interesting. And I'd prefer longer chapters. This one almost reads like a teaser.

I very much hope she'll be one of them as well. It would be just in time for me to buy my 360 and both ME1 & 2 for it and give me a reason to truly look forward to getting ME3.

I wouldn't worry too much. Miri is Christina's favorite character, so odds are she'll be one of the ones to be permanent.

Doesn't mean she has the final say if she is permanent or not.
She is a Gameplay Designer and more on the Combat side.

Jack? Just because she is confirmed to get a redesign doesn't mean she will be a squadmate
If you mean "Where else would she go after joining Shepard?" angle then I can agree with that...I honestly don't know where she would go...maybe joining pirates? She mentioned pirating as something Shepard could do after the SM mission was done.

Although I am curious to see how she will look.

One of the new squadmates shown @E3 has to be Vega since there hasn't been any shots of him so far (magazines, etc)

My main concern is Miranda though...

She was also confirmed to have "matured". Usually, I would say you need to spend a considerable amount of time with a person in order to see changes in their personality, especially something like maturity, but...well, this is Jack we're talking about. A cameo should do.

My feelings about Jack's are related to the fact that she's been talked about a good bit in the articles so far, has lots of potential to show off the character development she received in ME2, and is the project lead's favorite character.

You know, I'd love to know if Miranda's plot armor is intentional. It takes entirely too much planning to kill her. I always lose my nerve partway through, and considering there are scenarios I'd rather see her dead than have them, I consider this a serious handicap.

Since when was Jack Casey Hudsons favorite character?  And when did that ever mean she would be a premanent squadmate?
I think she was talked about because they wanted to reveal something about an ME2 exclusive squadmate and my guess is that they picked a character they felt were ready to tell people about and that character was Jack.

I still don't think she will show up more than a temp squadmate
