I don't tend to consider Miranda one of my top favorite squadmates (Tali,Legion,Wrex and Zaeed) but i always felt compelled to use her for half of a ME2 playthrough until I recruit Tali.

Maybe I like her more than I realize? :P

You are not alone in this. According to my poll (given below) most people think she is "the most combat effective squadmate".

In my current playthrough I'm using her for her overload and squad passive abilities. Still, if I didn't like her I wouldn't be using her regardless of those abilities. It's not like the game is that much harder without her(I'm playing on Veteran).

Oh I should also say that I couldn't stand using her due to her catsuit pre-AAP1. I can't remember if I used her that much in my first playthrough or if I used Garrus instead.

@Ieldra - I don't think that's the issue. People want to know a lot - whether Miranda's in it, what role she plays etc. The best I can find going back through C Hudson's twitter is this:

TeeShepz Tianna Sheppard

@CaseyDHudson How's ME3 coming along? What's happened to miranda and Jacob? Has my Shepherds relationship failed yet again?

@TeeShepz Like most key characters in the ME universe, Miranda and Jacob will be in #ME3, but details beyond that would be story spoilers.

Can't provide the exact link, but that's it, copied and pasted. I've bolded what I think is the relevant part.

I recall that twitter message. The thing is, people do want to know all kinds of things, but what we're most concerned about is the amount of screen presence she'll get. I can't see how that needs to be hidden if it is not something disappointing.

I would need to be hidden if their role in ME3 contains spoilers about Cerberus or Illusive Man himself. If Cerberus has become a major antagonist for Shepard (as the gameplay footage seems to indicate) then both Jacob and Miranda might play an important role, even if they're not permanent squadmates.

Actually no. I don't need details about their role, I only want to be assured of a significant screen presence. If I don't get that, I'll have to assume that their role will preclude any significant screen presence. For the latter - as opposed to their actual roles - does not need to be hidden.

I'm trying to keep up the optimism, but in the light of that reasoning it is getting harder.

They are in something of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. On the one hand, they've said that figuring out why Cerberus is with the Reapers is a major part of the plot that can't be spoilered and being that Jacob & Miranda are (ex) Cerberus they're very important/integral to that plot, and by not telling the fanbases, they're alienating the respective fanbases. On the other, if they tell the fanbases, they spoiler a major part of the plot...

I don't know why people keep bringing that up. I repeat: we don't need information about Miranda's role. In fact, I'd prefer not to know a lot about that. We only need to be assured of a significant screen presence and a significant amount of interaction ("significant" basically meaning "not restricted to one mission and the endgame". That can be done independently from any spoilers.

Because it needs to be said. Repeatedly. I know you don't want to know details apart from a simple yes/no answer, but there's a horde out there that would take that simple response and start badgering for more, until they get it.

Anyway, all this conjecture and doom & gloom is making me something of a misanthrope, and my faith in humanity gets damaged enough at work, so I'm outta here.

They haven't even revealed all the permanent squad members. We've got a long way to go until the game is released and there'll be plenty of info to come.

I have no doubt Miranda will be in the game, considering that she's a possible LI in ME2, and given her ties to Cerberus she'll likely be important. We just have to be patient.

That said, I'm hoping to have Miri back on the Normandy, Bioware willing.. :innocent:

Probably not, look at Tali fans : Bioware told them that she will be a squadmate and didn't say a thing about her role in ME3. All the fans are happy, and most of them are glad that Bioware didn't give spoilers about their favorite character.

I'm trying to do a recap, please correct mistakes and add missing stuff.

We know:
  • Miranda will be in ME3 (confirmed by Casey Hudson on Twitter)
  • all the ME3 characters get a visual update (better textures, hair, uniforms and such I guess)
We don't know, whether Miranda will be:
  • a permanent, a temporary squadmate or none at all
  • with Cerberus or not.
  • Shepards LI (if you did romance her in ME2 and wish to do so again in ME3).
  • voiced and faced again by Yvonne Strahovski?

Strahovski hasn't been confirmed, but I think we can be confident she's back.

Amuse me: I'm thinking of doing a playthrough where everything short of death goes wrong for Miranda. She kills Niket and doesn't speak to Oriana. Jacob dies because she does the bubble, and the crew dies for lack of escort. Any other suggestions?

They can replace the voice (to an extent) but changing her facial appearance completely doesn't seem reasonable?

Without question, Yvonne is great :D

No, we don't know.

with Cerberus or not.

If you destroy the base, she resigns from Cerberus.
If you let the base to Cerberus, she has doubts about your decision : so my guess is that she will resign anyway.

Shepards LI (if you did romance her in ME2 and wish to do so again in ME3).

We don't know if Miranda will be available as LI for the new players, but Bioware promised us that every major and minor plot will have a denouement in ME3. So I guess no romances will be abandoned, the question is : do all the romances will be treated fairly ?

voiced and faced again by Yvonne Strahovski?

They said that almost all the VA of major characters are back.
We still need a confirmation from Yvonne, but she already said that she's not allowed to tell us.

Yes, I try to be a litle bit optimistic today ...

I check her twitter regularly. :P
But they'd better hurry, because when season 5 shooting will begin she won't have a lot of free time until the end of the year. :?

I don't believe she needs to go to Canada. According to what I've heard, BW has a studio in LA where the lines get recorded. If that's the case, reading her Twitter hoping for a trip to Canada will lead to disappointment. BTW, she just recently returned to LA from Sydney.

So, I had a thought this morning regarding some of the earlier talks about whether Miranda would get kicked out of her XO's private quarters or not. Given that a) Shepard gets arrested and B) the Normandy gets essentially claimed by the Alliance, I think there's a fair likelihood that it's not just Miranda getting kicked out of her room. I think that there's a strong possibility that the Alliance gave the ship to the VS (we do see Ash and some unknown Alliance soldier on the Normandy when they pick up Anderson and Shepard).

So assuming Shepard knew how the Alliance would handle things, what do you think happened to Miranda prior to Shepard getting arrested? Did Shepard send her away? Is she working on her own now? Is she concocting a plan to get Shepard out of prison?

Miranda won't be a Squadie. She'll show up once myabe twice. Sort of like the crap cameo's Kaidan and Ashley fans got on Horizon. Or she might be a one-mission squadmate--if so count yourselves luckyyyyyyyyyy.

Her and Jacob might show up together too. kill two birds with one stone.

There was a quote from Hudson that the team broke up once the SM was complete.
Miranda has some things she needs to do offscreen.  Assuming she resigns Cerberus regardless then the first priority would be her sister.

I have heard the same rumors about  BW having VO recording facilites in LA.  Unlike the rest of the games development it makes sense to do your VO work in LA, since that is were most VA live and work.   The character wouldn't be the same without Yvonne.  I don't even want to entertain the possibliity that BW wouldn't bring her back.  If she did the VO work for 3rd Birthday, she can reprise Mirianda in ME3...(trying to remain positive...)

I think she left almost as soon as Arrival was completed. The sooner she ends her association with Shepard, the safer it is for both of them. Either she's reassigned by Cerberus (which probably leads to whatever causes her to resign), or Cerberus wants her head on a platter. And a continuing association with her makes Shepard look even worse. Plus, she has a sister to relocate and protect. I imagine even the romance will be put on hold for their mutual safety.

Good news.
And the fact that she live in the same place means she can do several record sessions over time.

It would be great to know how many time she will spend recording her lines, so we'll have an idea if she is a full time squadmate or not.

More positive thoughts : to hire someone like Yvonne is expensive, and I can't imagine Bioware wasting so much money for a character who won't appear for a long time during the game.
