There is still hope, so I prefer not thinking of what I would do if she's not a squadmate. Even if I'm tempted to end the Mass Effect series after ME2.
This is one thing I just don't get. Lack of squad-mate status, permenant or otherwise, does not mean she can still be part of the Mass Effect story.
I can understand wanting your favorite character to get screentime and be important, but I can't reconcile abstaining from the entire third part because you can't have your favorite character around 100% of the time and take them on every mission.
The only way that Miranda can have a significant screentime is that she's a permanent squadmate. I don't say I want her since the very begining of the game, or 100% of the time, but as soon as we can join her I want to have the opportunity to recruit her definitly.
Interactions, character development, many conversations, romance, party banter ... you can't have all of this if the character is not here during a large part of the game.
Some would be satisfied with a perm squadmate status, I don't.
I care about the fact that she could have an important role, but not at the expense of everything else. I want more than a cameo or a LotSB mission.
It's not a lightly decision I would take. I'm a hardcore Bioware fan, but as good as ME3 will be, to me the game is not worth it without Miranda.
My opinion.
