Yes he said it. Twice. Once was in direct response to some who asked about Miranda, the other time the question asked about Jacob and Miranda

In my latest pt, only 4 characters survived the SM. Maybe that has some influence, how much time Miranda will spend on the team in ME3.

If it has some inflence, I will be happy to add more casulties in my playthroughs.

to be honest I would be very surprised if those rumours are correct because bioware and casey hudson know that fans of such characters do not like other character prioritised over others especially if its one LI over another LI.

I feel what is likely to happen is that they will simply reduce the size of the missions if they are designed for Jacob because of them likely wanting to save time and space where possible but make it that it does not annoy the of such characters.

I still maintain that all LI's will be full squad members in ME3 simply because of them having more story impact than some of the other non LI characters and that they do not want to upset anyone who romanced with LI's that they cut out of ME3.

From what it sounds like there will be more new characters coming out for mass effect 3 than just James Vega from interviews I have heard with Casey.

Which in a way it will be annoying considering i want more space for previous ME characters not new ones.

Miranda is far behind, last time I conducted a ME character survey last September. It was Liara first, then Tali, and then a bunch of other people after that. Miranda was towards the bottom.

Personally, I am rather mum on Miranda. I didn't dislike her, but there were so many other awesome characters that I didn't give Miranda much facetime, so to speak. I hope she returns in some capacity, just for the sake of continuity. I really want to know if she is being hunted by Cerberus or not. Perhaps a quest-giver for Shepard, maybe?

Personally, for my next playthrough, I think the SM casualties will be Jack, Zaeed, Tali, Garrus and Jacob.

On my main Shep, Jack and Tali died and that worked perfectly for me because those were the least used squad members on my team. Okay, maybe it was a little bit calculated

I'm referring to one of your earlier polls, which I think is more representative because as late as September, there were almost only hardcore fans present on the forums, and they have decidedly different preferences than the general population of players. The various polls give a mixed picture, but all in all she's firmly in the second place. Add some off-site polls where hardcore fans who came in with ME1 are in the minority, and things get more in favor of Miranda. 

There are the data I extracted from your third poll (I think it was) in March 2010:
Best romantic encounters (differences to 100% due to rounding):

Tali 29%
Miranda 18%
Ashley 16%
Liara 14%
Kaidan 6%
Jack 5%
Thane 5%
Garrus 4%
Jacob 0.2%

Also, among hardcore fans Miranda ranks 6th in overall popularity among team members from both games, which is pretty good for a controversial character and according to someone from Bioware she was the most used team member overall.
