Best response to bad fanfic is to ignore it. Though it's annoyingly hard to find good Miranda fanfiction. She's either a sociopath or a bratty teenager.

Though she is great fun to torture in fanfic.

Bingo.
Don't get why people respond to it or even create fanfiction to get back at them

Because writing is a very hard thing to do and Miranda fans have high standards. We don't want to just write the first fanfiction idea that pops into our brains and place it on the Internet where everyone can see it.

At least that's what I tell myself. It allows me to sleep at night.

I've seen terribly OOC fanfic with few redeeming qualities written by her "fans." I rarely find something I can sink my teeth into.

There is a lot of bad fan fiction out there though I think LuxDragons' ongoing Fight for the Lost on fanfiction.net is a tremendous story, the best fanfiction I have read. At first I was simply looking for a Miranda/Shepard story but the best compliment I can pay is that particular story could easily have been a worthy novelisation of Mass Effect 2

Totally agree. I personally ward of fanfiction but caved when I heard about Fight for the Lost. I have been consuming chapters as they come ever since

Image IPBI'm so happy that you like it!Image IPB

I'm typing up the next chapter right now (As well as the future chapters at the same time. My outline and general direction is pretty much done.)

I'll get it out ASAP.

So, if the nature and extent of Miranda's role is affected by past choices, how would you like the role to vary? For instance, if she resigned, she's on the run. If not, she's working to subvert Cerberus from within.

I'm thinking TIM has lost control of Cerberus. You have the Kai Leng/Teltin cells types on the right and the Miranda/Lazarus cell types on the left. A house divided and all that. I'm thinking resigned or not she fights against the "bad" Cerberus. While still being loyal to the "good" Cerberus.

I think the resigning will impact Oriana more than Miranda. TIM may be like "okay, here is Oriana for x amount of credits Mr. Lawson" he has to pay for the loss of that base some how right.

Talking to Oriana or not should be interesting too. Say you didn't have her talk to Oriana.. and Oriana dies in the Reaper invasion from not being warned by Miranda(she has no contact directly/doesn't believe). Miranda meets Mr. Lawson later, and he blames her for Oriana dieing -- I think that would hurt Miranda badly.

It is waaaay to hard to speculate though. All I hope is that she gets a nice character arc and depth.. plus more consistent writing.

Indoctrination or a-typical damsel in distress are on my "do not want" list however.

I too, am sick of fanfics written from the haters perspective. I wrote one that featured Tali as the bad guy, just to see if the (Rabid) Talimancers could take as well as they give. (BTW: Tali is my third favourite LI after Ashley and Miri)

http://www.fanfictio...Highest_Loyalty

I'm currently working on one that is slightly AU. In it, Miranda and Jack swap their places and development backstories (Jack was recruited by Cerberus at a young age, and Miranda was the test subject at Teltin) but not their origins (Miranda is still the daughter of the 'mysterious Mr. Lawson, and Jack was still kidnapped by Cerberus) I'm trying to show how similar they are, but also the differences that would occur with the swap considering their different personalities.

http://www.fanfictio...1/Changing_Fate

@themark443, JosephDucreux, former Army Ranger and current criminal psychologist, has earned my undying respect for that review. It contains everything that I would like to say, but am prevented by due to a lack of confrontational skills.

Guys, these are the links to two of the greatest stories evar. Click or DIE. XD

Mad props to JosephDucreux from me, too. Oh, God, if Miranda isn't in Mass Effect 3 (i.e. play a big role) and Tali takes the spotlight I swear I will flip...

"Miranda will be in #ME3, if she survived your #ME2. Where, why, and how much you'll see her would spoil the story."

Confirmed that we won't even get squad status...

On the other hand, it seems like she'll get a big chunk of the story if her role is that important that he won't even confirm/deny squad status. Even if she isn't a permenant squadie, she sounds like she has something interesting in the works.

So we're cursed to a state of constant worrying for nine months to come.... The thing is, I would really like to believe that it is a good thing that they consider this a spoiler and she'll have a sizeable role and screen presence. But do I dare? The disappointment if she won't have that would be devastating and make me throw my monitor out of the window.

Look at it this way Ieldra - those of us on the correct side of the Pond will have 3 days to decide whether or not buy it if Miranda doesn't have a suitable presence. If nothing else, if she doesn't, we'll likely hear the howls and calls to war before the game comes out over here...

Just so, except that I'll buy the game anyway most likely. But I actually don't want to be spoiled about her story arc, and it will be hard to avoid that when looking for information about Miranda's presence in those three days.

Bah, who am I trying to deceive - it will probably be impossible to avoid spoilers unless I can keep away from BSN until I have finished the game for the first time - and I don't see that happening.

This may or may not of been discussed before, but I've been trying to think of some things to write down, and was wondering what do you think Miranda's hobbies are?

I could see her into extreme sports or tourism. Like mountain climbing or Amazon jungle expeditions. I think the danger, adrenaline rush, and being pushed to mental and physical limits would be something she finds satisfying.

Could be something more modest.. like practicing/learning martial arts or any fighting style. I could see her into tennis.. don't know why tennis. It just seems Miranda to me. Maybe because it is an individual sport requiring excellence in many facets?

However I could be wrong and she just wants to chill out from saving the galaxy and what not. Maybe she writes childrens books and does yoga.

This has been brought up several times with inconclusive results. My list includes:

(1) Music (canonical - she likes Carl Nielsen's 5th symphony). I could also see her performing.
(2) Driving/flying fast vehicles of any kind - cars, boats, small starships.
(3) Martial arts. In one of my fanfics I have her practice the Destreza (an old Spanish swordfighting style).

Yeah I figured it had been asked before.. I was a little late on joining BSN. Trying to catch up :).

I overlooked music. Dunno how. I could for sure see Miranda appreciating the technical aspects of music. Especially symphony works.
