Aikido is super-lethal. One of my Air Force buddies got attacked by a drunk 'peace' protester when he got home from Iraq. He pushed the guy away, then the moron just swung again and clipped my mate's wife...
The cops were very understanding when they took the guy to hospital with a broken arm and several shattered fingers.
In 'Salt', Angelina Jolie used a combination of Muay Thai and Krav Maga. Muay Thai's a pretty elegant art, would definitely suit Miranda.
Damn right, Aikido has one main purpose: breaking joints. When I was younger I enrolled in the Shotogun school of martial arts and my sensei taught us a wide variety of "self defense" but really it came down to killing.
There are some ten year olds you just dont want to **** with.
Anyway, with striking we stuck mostly to karate and even some boxing. For grappling it was judo as well as a lot of ju jistsu (i think i just butchered that martial art name lol) but aikido was the real trump card that could end a fight in seconds and send your enemy screaming all the way to the ER. Whenever he started demonstrating it he always reminded us: "Go slow and be careful or you will break your partner's elbow (or knee or what have you). And if we ever used it in sparring it was mandatory that we weaken our opponent to the point where we knew we could pull it off without snapping his wrist or breaking his clavicle and well you get the idea. Learned more about anatomy from that place than any classroom.
ANYWAYYY, in regards to CH's post about Miranda's role in ME3 he can basically only answer yes or no at this point if he can answer at all. The reveals at E3 where carefully chosen to the point that we already knew that ME3 would start on Earth and the Reapers would invade so okay, cool, BW can show us some footage of that. We also knew Ash and Kaidan and Liara would all be coming back so again, cool, they can show us that. We also knew that Cerberus would be an enemy and that we'd be going to the Salarian homeworld which pretty much translated to something doing with Mordin and the genophage.
Now spoilers that were revealed at E3 so if you don't want to know what was revealed please skip ahead.
All of this a person could figure out before the footage shown at E3. In fact the only two reveals I saw where the changes in combat gameplay, the new talent abilities screen for Shepard, and that Cerberus was indoctrinated and that was why they are enemies, and that Admiral Anderson would at least be a temporary squadmate.
/end E3 spoilers
So when he says all I can say is Miranda will be there that means if he says anything else we could begin piecing things together well before the next info release. For example if he said:
"She will be a temporary squadmate" then we can extrapalate her main role will likely be helping Shepard deal with Cerberus and once that done she goes and does her own thing. If she's a recruitable squadmate then that cofirms for us that other popular and important past squadmates will be recruitable as well (unless BW wants to suffer a nuclear fallout of fan rage which is VERY unlikely). On the other hand he probably just confirmed her return because it was pretty obvious she survived ME2 in most playthroughs (unless you purposely went out of your way to kill her) and because they already confirmed key characters will be coming back and since she was the female lead in ME2 it was a given that she would be returning in some capacity. Thus that "confirmation" is really just a free cookie BW could give to us ME fans. Other characters that didn't have larger key roles probably won't be confirmed until we get closer to release.
ONE thing that does interest me with this confirmation is that BW confirmed there wouldn't be as many squadmates as their was in ME2, at least recriuitable ones for the full show. To me that confirms past squadmates will have cameos and temp squadmate status. Still I feel a list is in order.
1) Ash/Kaidan (confirmed)
2) Garrus (confirmed)
3) Tali (confirmed, unless you're living under a rock or refuse to take your head out of the sand)
4) Liara (confirmed)
5) Sanders (confirmed as the new guy/person new players can relate to)
This is where it comes down to popularity as well as necessity
6) Miranda (?)
7) Mordin (?)
8) Wrex (?)
9) Jack (?)
10) Legion (?)
11) Samara/Morinth (?)
12) Grunt (?)
Jacob (?)
Thane (?)
Zaeed (?)
Kasumi (?)
Anderson (?, though I'm think temporary or only available for certain missions and the rest of the time he acts as part of Shepard's advisement team)
Other new peoples (?)
This means that we have six or seven available slots for returning squadmates - awesome.
I can't even BEGIN to speculate on all of these so I'm just gonna stick with Miranda and Cerberus. From where I stand right now it appears we need at least one squadmate to deal with it and the choices come down to this:
Miranda, Jacob (maybe), and some new guy (mandatory since M+J may not have survived ME2) and BW can go in several directions with this:
1) Cameo
2) Temporary
3) Fully recruitable (which is what I'm praying for, that we will have the option to pick which of the three we want to bring with throughout the rest of the game - or pick none at all).
4) They can potentially die (probable)
So getting back to CH and him being unable to confirm what exactly her status of a squadmate in ME3 will be...he can't, because a guy like me will come along and be able to rationalize this all out and screw up their marketing plan. Still I can take it even a couple of steps further since we know Miranda will have some sort of confrontation with a ME1 LI that will have major consequences in ME3 as well as the need for Miranda fans to be satisfied with having some real closure to Shepard's romance arc with her.
Anyway this is a pretty long post so I think this will be a pretty good place to end it.
