Yep. If you don't romance Liara and you save Kaidan, Kaidan is the one who runs up to Shepard. In Phoenix Armor, no less.
Aight thanks, I'll need to find someone with ME1 save that fits me and try to get that version.

I think they don't think it through. For those people it's just a game and of course they want to keep their LI. A virtual planet doesn't matter then. I tend to take my stories more seriously. I'd *really* hate to see the choice "Miranda or the mission" in ME3, because I would have to choose the mission. BTW, that's what my old fanfic "A promise of love and death" (see OP) is about.jtav wrote...
Could someone explain to me why an alarmingly large number of people say they'd choose their LI over the rest of the squad or even an entire planet? I love Miranda and wouldn't want to make that choice, but it strikes me as more selfish than loving to condemn large groups of people to death for one person.

Oh yea. And the mission comes first. I'd be annoyed if Bioware had a choice like that. It's up their with Shepard being part of a "prophecy" (in which case I'd consider not even continuing the game).

I'm curious. Has anyone else cried during her loyalty mission? I did during my current game. No idea what was so special about this time.

So far as the current topic goes, I didn't really get misty eyed in ME2 at any part of the game (for whatever reason that may be), but I think Miranda, Tali, and Jack's loyalty missions "affected" me most.

So in effect, I agree that I like her character more than her romance. All boils down to opinion though. No one is invalid for thinking differently than I.
I actually also really like Kaidan, but I'm sad that there wasn't any really way to befriend Kaidan in ME1 as M!Shepard. He's one of my favorite characters too. I also like what they did with Thane - you can befriend him without the romance. I wish Jack were like that :/

I think it would have been cool to have expanded "friendship" dialog with the squaddies too.

Well, it really depends on the situation. I can see my character sacrificing Miranda,to save earth if humanity was on there. On the other hand,if was the entire alien population on the line, Shepard would choose Miranda, besides it being a win win situation, a single human life is more valuable than an entire species of aliens.
More direct to your question, I assume, most see the squad when compared to there prospective love interest as cannon fodder. Also, given this unnamed planet of questionable value, example Virmire that could be handled later; which most likely is a shallow victory. Compared to saving the loving living love interest, who'd usually be slightly upset, but who would forgive you later...

Because some people take their love for characters waaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too seriously.

@Ieldra2 I don't think so. That something I, could see Ashley Williams or Maria from KOTOR2 or SIE from Alpha Protocol say. Its really a line meant for the tom boy style, shoot first, ask questions later character. I can see Miranda using a more, refined elegant, yet slightly vain statement.Shame, I can't think of one that would make her sound chaste.

it's not just that - it's the ultimate romantic challenge, isn't it? *you* or the planet/universe/whatever. people like to think they'd choose the immediate good over the greater one.
btw yes i do think miranda would say something like you wrote, in the appropriate context.

Let's say they could have selected an outfit that fits her personality better. One enemy statement I always react to with "I like Miranda, but you do have a point" is Enyala's....Sixth Goul wrote...
Have we talked about Mirnadas standard outfit, yet? If not,I have no clue what Bioware was thinking. I don't know if its my HD television, but for some reason Miranda outfit looks like shiny tight latex cotton.
I don't think Miranda has a single bit of vanity. And while she has this element of refined elegance, what she values in a man is, among other things, competence. So I don't think the "shooting" statement inappropriate.@Ieldra2 I don't think so. That something I, could see Ashley Williams or Maria from KOTOR2 or SIE from Alpha Protocol say. Why is that a problem? She isn't...Shame, I can't think of one that would make her sound chaste.
