You were just waiting for an opportunity to inflict that video on us, weren't you.

All right. So for now we can assume that Miranda always reacts to attempts at double-romance as shown in this video:

Until proven otherwise. Maybe the "everyone needs to know...." is  something bandied about by a certain group whose erroneous claims have been dealt with in the Miranda Lawson FAQ

To be honest, i found that video 30sec after Dominus5412 posted. Besides,I figured there was going to be disappointment of the lack of video s/he stated so why not lighten the mood with good old State college humor? =]

I can do an ME2 speedrun to see what she says. You'll have to take my word for it, though. Any variables you want me to check?

The first time I saw this scene, I was… let down.

I wouldn't tell you about it but it's 7:30 am and I have nothing to do so I'll tell you about it.

It was right before the Omega 4 relay. I knew the romance scene was coming up. I was excited. First playthrough. You know the feeling. I turn away from the galaxy map and Miranda’s coming out of the elevator. I got more excited. Ooh, here it comes.

At first I liked that thing she does where she’s in your way, you go to move, and she blocks your path. You go to move the other way, and she blocks it again. Playful. I get it. It was well done, I thought.

Then she leans in and whispers…

And it was all... so disappointing.

I had so loved the direction the romance was going, this whole, “What are you afraid of, Miranda? That you’ll actually start caring for someone?” thing. It was lines like this that made me think the romance was about more than sex. This addresses some deep and meaningful emotional issue that I loved, the idea that she’s quite afraid of serious feelings. Because a character like her would be totally afraid of that, so you pose a serious conflict to her just by your existence, because she wants you but doesn't want to want you. Now, this is the stuff around which great romances are built.

Then the sex scene arrives, and she says, “I’ve cleared the engine deck.”

In other words, “Go here. We’ll bang.”

Can someone say, moodkiller?

And it gets worse.

Then there’s the “I should’ve known you wouldn’t settle for the captain’s quarters” line. In other words, “Oh, I thought we were gonna bang in the captain’s quarters. Cuz we wanna bang and now we’re just talkin’ about where we’ll bang. Yep. Banging location.”

And last but not least, that “I only settle for the best, commander” line (which just puts Miranda's character in poor taste, imo)… and the wink. Which seemed to seal the implication that this was a total booty call.

I didn’t WANT a booty call. I wanted some seriousness, some meaning. I mean not a lot, but something. The playfulness was fine, I liked it, but just at first, when she blocks your path like that. Afterward, I wanted some meaningfulness. Where’s the intensity I got in the hug scene? Where’s the LOOK on her face I got in the hug scene? I fell in love with that look, not THIS look, this winking thingy she’s doing. That's great for like the fourth time you've had sex with your boyfriend. First time? In a romance like this? Just... no.

Here the setup:
As far as I recall, a romance conflict only occurs if you are past the last romance conversation before the suicide mission with someone, and attempt the last one with someone else. Miranda and Tali have two romance conversations after their loyalty mission debrief, Jack has three but hers are shorter.

Variables to check:
(1) Differences between Jack/Miranda, Tali/Miranda, and Jack/Tali/Miranda
(2) If Miranda doesn't say "everyone needs to know....", does anyone else?

Something you probably won't be able to check:
Has something changed with the latest patch?

I'll do my best. Hopefully, I've got a save somewhere shortly after Horizon or similar.

I don't know if you have to do a mission between conversations. It may be enough to leave the Normandy on a hub world and immediately go back.

Another option is to comb the sound files.

If I'm not mistaken, the Miranda 'everyone needs to know you're mine' thing stemmed from a previous discussion here or somewhere else about why she would choose the engine room.

Just sayin', could be wrong.

Not enough. There are installed sound files never used anywhere in the game. Apart from that, finding that stuff is probably more time-consuming than testing.

I don't know about you guys, but for me any place other than Shepard's / Miri's Quaters are too public....
Because I know that Kasumi watched the entire event because she told Shepard "Really Shepard, in the Engine Room... right there where Tali works..." :P

What she said doesn't mean she watched them. There are some people who could watch Miranda & Shepard going to the engine room. She knows because of the rumors.
You don't have to spy them to guess what they are doing together there.
About Tali, she could only hear them, and I suppose she didn't stay when she saw Shepard entered the engine room.

I think she watched the entire event ... Because her next comment is "...and exactly how much is Miranda genetically modified, 'cause I mean - wow."

Unlikely, since the most impressive parts of Miranda's genetic engineering are invisible. On the surface, she looks very good. That's nice, but nothing to "wow" about.

It makes sense in context that Kasumi was watching though, based on what she says.

If she watched the entire event, why would she ask exactly how genetically modified Miranda is?

No, it doesn't. You think the devs deliberately made the galaxy's best thief have this fetish for spying on people as they're boinking? I mean, really?

To illustrate how disbelieving I am, I am more willing to believe that Miranda became best friends with Kasumi and had a girl talk of their sexual conquests over a bowl of ramen as Shepherd is wrestling the Oculus in the cargo hold, and that is how Kasumi found out. They were both also in their PJs and braiding each other's hair and painting each other's finger nails, and talking like, "Like, oh NO YOU DI'N'T (head bob thingy). Like, omigosh, like, that's SO, like, AWESOME girl!"

I've failed. The nearest save would require about a ten hour replay, and I don't have time for that just now.

Face it, Kasumi's the best voyeur in the galaxy.
