I'm not sure when they say it Ieldra. I only know that Thane, Jack and Jacob say anything at all because I heard it from Ecael. And yes, I wish the Mirandamance was more romantic.

I must admit I find this abbreviation for someone's romance jarring - whenever I see the syllable "-mance" in an unfamiliar context, my first association is "-mantic" as in "relating to divination, prophecy or conjuration (of resp. through something)". I hope it doesn't become common for Miranda's romance as well.

As for the death scenes, can you point me to a relevant thread or post?

It can be forgiven. My God, how can it even be possible for eyes to be that color?

I lnow the shad exists. I was trying to think of something more coherent than "Wow!" There are certain shots of Miranda I just have to stop and stare at.

LOL. You and me both. In the picture in front of the window, it always strikes me how in this lighting, Miranda's eyes mirror the open space outside. No matter that real space isn't tinted blue, the symbolism is very appealing to me. Add that Miranda's face looks very beautiful in this shot and it's close to the perfect Miranda screenshot.

Hello Miranda fans! Currently working on a large-scale project involving all the characters, and I just finished adapting Miranda's materials for use in 3dsmax. Thought I'd drop the image off here as I'm rather fond of how it turned out (though I'll admit I could have put some effort into posing her face. That will come later.)

Will possibly drop by later with finish product, though I dont' know when it will be finished.

Very nice, JeanLuc761. I hope we'll see more of your Miranda. With the head fixed, of course. ;)

I agree it's a bit jarring. Is there a better abbreviation?

And here is Ecael's post, I just found it. This was in the "Do you think romance dialogue in ME2 is weaker than ME1?" thread.

Ecael wrote...

I think they were both weak. There's hardly any mention of the romance outside the Normandy within the same game (except during the suicide mission, if Thane or Jack die as Second Fire Team Leader).

I'm curious, what do they say?

Thane: I hear it, a sea...
Thane: You look beautiful, my siha...

Jack: Too many of them... I knew I'd get hit on this job. I was too happy... too happy with you.

Garrus and Tali don't have a romance-driven line at this part, and Miranda can't die. Jacob apparently has a line for this as well, but it's impossible to obtain since he has to be loyal in order to be romanced.

Jacob: Too many, Shepard. Shields blew. Guess you and I won't get our time...

After I read these I wanted Miranda's. Then they were all, "She can only die if you bring her to the boss fight with no loyalty!"

Thanks!  Technically, it's Bioware's model with some adjustments to the textures on her, so it's unfair to call it "my Miranda," but 3dsmax has much fewer limitations than a game engine so she can look a lot better here.

Very nice, JeanLuc.

I wish Miranda was easier to kill. I like the line I came up with.

Do we need one at all? It's only one syllable less than the full expression. Really, I don't get this obsession with making everything shorter, especially if the result has an ambiguous meaning.

And here is Ecael's post, I just found it. This was in the "Do you think romance dialogue in ME2 is weaker than ME1?" thread.

Ah, thanks. It's as I thought - the death dialogue only appears when the squadmates die as second fire team leaders. That's a very narrowly defined situation. I've never had an LI die there, but I admit I'm tempted to replay my main femShep with Thane as LI. I don't have a Shepard who'll go into ME3 single. And I'd be tempted to let one of my three maleSheps (all with Miranda) go into ME3 single if jtav's "death line" actually existed.

Heh...maybe it was recorded, and we only don't get to see it because Miranda was made unkillable as second fire team leader later. Perhaps there's someone who can browse the sound files for something....

I'd stop complaining about the romance if that line existed.

Good night, folks. It's back to work for me. Do you want a link when the Liara/Miranda story is done?

Seeya jtav. Sure, I wouldn't mind taking a peek. I won't read the whole thing.

Some people have been mentioning to me they want a Liara/Miranda romance as punishment for "cheating" Shepards a little too much lately for me to like that pairing anymore...

You should call it your Miranda. It looks really good. That outfit looks much better, but I can't really say why, it's kind of subtle. I think it's the texture, like you said... how exactly does the game engine have more limitations?

Have they? I. have to admit that I would be pleased and amused if they actually did that. Hey, my OTP would be canon! I can help it. I love those two so much. Er, sorry. Going to work now.

A game engine is limited by the computer running it, hence why Bioware limits their textures to around 1024x1024, and they don't implement stuff like real-time reflections, sub-surface scattering, etc.  With Miranda on there, I can make a leather material that has blurred reflections, incredibly high res textures (over 4096x4096), and with multiple different material types.

Same goes for any in-game asset.

Wow. That is just... really a pity. That picture is incredible. I'll be sorry to go back to the actual game graphics now.

Btw, I didn't think there was anything wrong with the posing of her head. What did you mean?

Where is all this discussion taking place? I'd cheat on Liara if that were the outcome. And bring popcorn.

There's nothing particularly wrong with the posing on the head, it's just that I didn't do anything for it.  Next time I'll actually put an expression on her face :P

Thanks for the praise everyone, though I will say this; that render is far and away a bad example of what can be done.  It has extremely basic lighting, and if I spent about a day on increasing her texture resolution to 4096x4096, she'd look considerably better.

Good morning, everyone. Since I won't be able to maintain much of a presence today, let's start the day with a picture of Miranda on Omega:

Hmm...the face doesn't look as good as I though, so here's another one.

Here's an interesting little fact: I was browsing groups to see if there was anything interesting in those I didn't know, and by the added members of all fan groups, Miranda may be more popular than Garrus (1700 : 1550). If you only count the biggest one (and discount the rest for doubles), the same (1100: 1000).

BTW:
Miranda answers: "This isn't a popularity contest".

Granted, Ms.Lawson. Still an unexpected little fact.
