i hope for like an upgraded fight like the ones they had on Kotor ( i loved that game.... shame obsidian f*****d the sequel up ) but yeah where ure a gunner but instead actually move in kotor you were stationary.

No, Lucasarts fudged the sequel up by making Obsidian develop an even more extensive sequel to an already extensive and comprehensive game within the time span of a SINGLE YEAR.

I could go for a submarine mission on the Hanar homeworld or something.

It would have to have a non-aquatic name though. We got two land vehicles named after fish (Mako and Hammerhead), a flying shuttle craft named after a land animal (Kodiak) so any sub would have to be named after a bird.

maybe Earth leaders for water/underwater vessels (Abraham Lincoln,Joseph Stalin,Adolf Hitler,Mahatma Gandhi,etc.)

Haven't been to this thread in a while.
I still hold firm my statement that there should be mission specific vehicles. I mean, Mass Effect isn't ABOUT vehicles, but if the option is available why not take it?

Someone mentioned something about vehicle customisation... I dont think that's really necessary. Shepard and co. Are likely going to be very busy with Reapers and such to worry about custom painting ME3's respective ground vehicle(s).
Maybe at most scratch out/paint over any Cerberus logos.

Also here is something that nobody has mentioned (and I've read the whole thread): You need to have the ability to SAVE when driving aforementioned vehicles. Besides the crap-tastic armour, that was the main thing that infuriated me when driving the Hammerhead.

*facepalm* my bad... I've been too busy reading all the replies. It's like the opposite of normal forum-goers.

Bring back the Mako but make the level design suit it better.

Whatever direction BW decides to go with, at least give the option to leave the vehicle manually. I truely missed getting out on foot and sniping from 100s of yards away.

hmm, i dunno, was it that neccesary? It got a little silly in ME1 for me getting in and out of the vehicle all the time. I didn't have a problem with the HH's method of getting in and out

What method? You couldn't get out of the Hammerhead! And if you had to pee, you had to pee inside, with Tali and Miranda watching!!!

don't think that'll happen somehow... sure some people would be happy, but i think you'd get far more unhappy people.

I think the overlord pack showed how great level design can be for vehicles though, if it's anything to go by i think design for ME3 should be pretty great

oh wow I havent seen this topic in a while. still support it like crazy, wanna see some seriously sweet vehicle sections in me3

does anyone else think the hammerhead seemed a bit like a tech demo? i think they were testing it for proper inclusion on disc in me3. hopefully that means (w the help of these boards) well get a more polished and better vehicle for the next game?

Yes, the Hammerhead did feel a little "tech-demo-ish" but I think the overlord pack it really came into it's own. It was still heaps of fun (in my own opinion, others clearly disagree). I think there's heaps of potential for great gameplay in the next game, and I think if the HH dlc proved one thing, it's that vehicles really add to the ME universe and ME2's on disc gameplay was great, but worse off without vehicle sections

If Shepard's new ride looks and performs anything like this, I'd welcome back vehicles with both arms.

I think Alliance carriers are named for leaders, artists and intellectuals and I'm pretty sure none of them are named after Hitler or Stalin.

you'd hope there were none named after them....

just continue the animal theme and name the water vehicles after a bird of some description. Call it the raptor or something

Allright - Ill throw my hat into the ring on this wall of text we have going about vehicles.

I actually liked the mako missions.  mako missions vs. scanning a plant is like being Capt. Kirk vs. Lt. Uhura.  Mako missions make you feel like you (the character) are exporing the world  it makes the "worlds" galaxy... whatnought, feel more alive and bugger.  Lets face it, in ME2 what we got for exporable worlds... 80% or more of them derived from party member recruitment and loyalty missions... thats.. bleh.  We need more stuff to do after getting our squad up to snuff but BEFORE we go to the last mission.

SERIOUSLY.

I would be in favor of some type of hover-craft or 6 wheel vehicle with shielding and some form of gun that lets us again explore more worlds.  Also.... not all the worlds need to be abandonde.  Let us go explore rural areas of planets with small populations or even take the Mako (or whatever its called now in ME3) to citis and drive it around... with the exception of LARG cities that have their own public transportation.

My two creds.

Great post! we do have a seriously big wall of text don't we?

I agree 100% explorable worlds make a big difference, and having them somewhat populated a bit more than the bare bones mako worlds of ME1 is important!

News of Vehicles being relegated to side mission in ME3 makes me a little sad, although the tidbit in Gameinformer about space combat is intriguing

"we are treating space cinematics and space combat differently and on a bigger scale than ever before...."

Thoughts?

I like and love most of the ideas, I hope most of those things do come in Mass Effect 3 or future Mass Effect's. I miss the freedoms and explorations, I think they will make a return. :)

As long as the space action sequences aren't craptastic like they were in KotOR, I'll be happy.

I doubt any of you have heard of Star Wars Galaxies but the Jump to Lightspeed expansion is the single greatest part of that game. It allows for TONS of replayability and is just all together fun. I liked how upgrading the ship worked in that game, but since this is an not an MMO it will have to work differently. My suggestion is that the ships you kill (not necessarily Reapers, it could be like Blue Sun ships) give off a random ship part that can be reverse engineered (SWG term will be explained). Reverse engineering would take the best stats of the guns being reverse engineered into one gun. Good loot would be rare and bad loot more common obviously and the Reapers could give special parts. Just a thought, hope that everyone likes it and it gets included.

On the subject of the HH, it definitely needs armor. It feels way to weak but I loved its maneuverability. I think they should make the armament machine gun/lock on missiles and have a zoom feature.

well, KotOR was a generation ago, you'd hope they would have evolved a little bit since then... I can't really remember the space sequences from that, care to elaborate why it wasn't any good?
