I support CUSTOMIZABLE VEHICLES!!!!

You can choose to upgrade speed, armour, or firepower. A lot of people liked the Mako's durability, and some liked the Hammerhead for speed. Let people be able to choose for themselves!

Agreed. Let users customize and then when they complain about a vehicle's performance, it's their own fault!

I've been asking, so far no luck on a reply. Fingers crossed. Perhaps they're saving it for a reveal?

I support vehicles in ME3. That said, Bioware needs to address a few issues to make them a really enjoyable part of the game.

1) Weapon Damage. Let's face it: the Mako and Hammerhead had pathetic weapons. The man-portable M920 Cain can one-shot a Geth Colossus, while the Mako and Hammerhead can barely dent their shields. Even lowlier Geth units or pirates in standard battle armor could survive direct hits from the Mako's cannon or the Hammerhead's rockets on higher difficulties. The vehicles feel underpowered because of this.

2) Protection. The Hammerhead was pathetically weak, but the Mako suffered too on higher difficulties. The Mako's main problem here was the abysmally slow shield recharge rate. Characters have a limited shield boost ability. Vehicles need something like this too. Also, the whole point of armored vehicles in real life is to be impervious to small arms fire. Standard weapons should bounce off armored vehicles. It should take heavy weapons to damage them.

3) Terrain. Like many here, I believe one of the key issues with the Mako was terrain. Rock crawling could be a chore. On most planets there was a clear path to the objectives, but it wasn't always obvious on the map. Some difficult terrain is fine, but it was excessive in ME.

4) Control. As an XBox player, the control for the Mako was compromised. They should not have tied its direction to the camera. It made moving and shooting in any direction but forward needlessly difficult.

As for what I would like to see in ME3, first and foremost would be a main battle tank. Shepard is back with the Alliance, and we're facing a Reaper invasion. I don't think access to heavy hardware is unrealistic. Give it a main gun comparable to the Cain, and a coaxial MG comparable to the Revenant, but more accurate at range. Make the tank slow, deadly, and able to soak up a lot of damage. Then add a lighter, faster scout vehicle. I wouldn't mind seeing the Mako or Hammerhead again, or something completely new. Let the player select which vehicle to take on a mission. Make some missions favor one or the other, or some that force the use of one.

Second, I want to see the vehicle missions integrated with the main plot. I also want to see missions that combine vehicles with exploration on foot. Therum, Virmire, and Overlord are some of my favorite missions in the series, and all did a good job of integrating the vehicles.

Third, an upgrade system for the vehicles would be nice. It doesn't have to be as extensive as personal weapons and armor. It would be nice if the player had to make hard choices, like higher damage vs. stronger shields.

Overall, vehicles have been an interesting part of the ME series, even if they didn't always fit well. I commend Bioware for trying. I think they enriched the game experience despite the flaws. I'm looking forward to ME3 and seeing what Bioware does in the game.

Why all the hate for the Hammerhead?

You cannot exit it? Why the hell you should want to? Only reason to exit the Mako was to gain more experience points. And that was tedious. Free Exploration in those mountaineous regions with the mako was tedious also. It didn't even look good.
Combat in the mako? Safest way was hide-and-shoot which is awful in a vehicle. Only fighting Thresher Maw was a bit fun. Plus if I remember correctly, the Mako would also do some stupid overturnings if one of its oversized wheels crashed into a trashcan.

Hammerhead may be lightly armored, but driving it is definitly more fun to me than clumsy old mako. Why complain about levels which are done extra for it? Breaks immersion I hear, well there's a hundred things that make no sense but gameplay-wise these are good.
Combat? I don't know why so many people complain about it. Sure, safest way here is also hide-and-shoot. And even rocket targetting may be absurd at some times, but Hammerhead has the mobility to go up close and don't get hit. I agree, fighting turrets in DLC: Overlord is tedious. If BW made them rocket turrets, you could dance around them and use Hammerheads superior mobility. Luckily you can avoid most of them.

And why should you drive 10 minutes through a rocky nothing just to get to the mission and entertaining part? I don't see the point of that. So yeah I'm for designed vehicle missions instead of generic rock exploration. Overlord made a fine example of that in my opinion. There were places where you could go and watch the scenery, the geth-cannon was a fine piece of work and even jumping over lava like supermario was great.

As for the hovertaxi in LotSB, it didn't feel right. You had so many controls, but actually it didn't matter much. Just pressing boost all the time, but steering? The thing went up and down like on an invisible rail, but I never had the feeling I could influence it much. Glad it was just a short bit.

Spacebattles? Could be fine, if done right. However, if it results in static hide-and-shoot situations I would advise against it. If it's done, it should be highly dynamic, up close and personal.
Underwater exploration may sound fine, but after the second playthrough it gets boring. Where should the action be? Counting fish?

Overall it is my opinion that Mass Effect is an action-rpg, which does not center around crazy vehicles, but squad- and skillbased shooter-combat. So don't break your neck about customizable spacebuggys Bioware.

my two cents. <_<

I voted for both 3 & 4 in the poll. I'd like vehicles to have meaning again in Mass Effect and have some substance. They're also a great way to make a place feel big.

All that said, I do not want The Hammerhead back. Not without a massive overhaul that would essentially make it no longer The Hammerhead pretty much. I'd rather just have a faster, slightly less bouncy Mako.

This is what I'm most interested to see gameplay-wise from ME3. Exploring the wonders of space was the feature that got me hooked to begin with. Whatever vehicles they go with, I just want to see some interesting backdrops and conditions like large, beautiful blue giants, binary stars, and the like. Space combat would be a hands-down winner if they pulled it off well. I still have no idea why we have so many FPS' and nary a new Star Fox or Rogue Squadron-esque game...space can be such a beautiful gaming atmosphere...

these are the ideas I really enjoy and wouldn't drift off too much from the main game (TPS-RPG):
A Vehicle specific HUD. We need a health meter! It could also display the currently armed weapon, the Hammerhead's boost, and radar.
Turrets: I'd love the Normandy to have a mannable turret(s) (think Luke and Han in the Millenium Falcon) so we can participate a little more in the Normandy's big moments
Squadmate Bonus powers: Perhaps special tech/biotic powers that certain squadmates can activate from inside vehicles. It'd make selecting squaddies for Vehicle missions meaningful.
Vehicular Boss Battles! Let us take on Reapers, Gunships, Geth Dropships

the other ideas, although many of them are great, I think wouldn't fit in this ME game ... maybe they'll release a ME fight-simulator someday, to make everyone happy

I like some of those designs, I could make some interesting ones maybe with 3D programs I have. I am not the best, I am creative I don't have 3DS. :( I hope for vehicles like Space, Air, Sea and Land, ground or hover. I want something like that, something new and fun, old vehicles and current vehicles are welcome too. :) I miss and would like, love to see the freedoms and the freedoms of exploration, you being able to enter In and Out of your vehcile land or park your vehicle. Yes it is the future most vehciles should be hoverble as well advance powerful and upgradeable and customized. If they added more vehciles liek you have a bigger hanger or a base or a place you park it, leave it. That will be interesting and cool too have. :)

I don't want any Vehicles. But if there had to be any vehicles i would only want ones with a direct purpose to a combat section or story section, i do not want any pointless massive exploration like there was in ME 1 (if any i prefer the ME 2 approach, both in Overlord and the Firewalker quest).

Though i liked the base of the hamemrhead, but there should be some tweaks on it, like improved armor/shield and better weapons (dmg and targetting).

Wow, customizable vehicles would be fantastic... but it just doesn't sound like vehicles will be in the game long enough to require this.

BUT... I want my shuttle to have the same thing the helicopter in Apocalypse Now had on it:

You are boring, go play Call Of Duty or DA if you don;t want vehciles. I love vehciles, that too and exploration is what made Mass Effect EPIC!!!

That would be quite cool. Might be a little interesting to control it and shoot at the same time though.

i like the idea of vehicles in me3, but i hope they make them better than the ones in me1 and 2.

me1 : the way the mako was used in the subquests is a disgrace. i'm currently replaying me1, an the subquest are just an insult. drop on an empty planet , drive around for 10 minutes without any sense, get out of it, kill everything, leave. these subquests are not even worth the 5 sec loading screen. some of the worst subquests in videogame history, and the mako is a big part of it. (in my eyes you could just cut out the senseless driving to the "outpost", it just takes time and since every planet is just empty, nothing happens at all). many ppl mention the "explorable worlds" here. whats the point about "exploring" EMPTY worlds? driving around on an totaly empty planet for 20 minutes just to find some minerals an get 3000 credits?

me2: the hammerhad misisons are even worse than the subquests in me1. just drive around through an empty level an scan some points? come on.

bottom line : the mako in me1 was only usefull during the main quest. the hammerhad wasn't usefull at all. so if vehicles are included , i hope they do it the way they did it in the me1 mainquest and (please please PLEASE) not the way the did it in me1 subquests and me2.

I could see a space combat mini game in ME3. But please stay true to your own lore and use projectile weapons and missiles instead of pew pew laser guns.

The number one thing I'd like to see is the Normandy SR2 fighting it out in space with a Reaper.
Mainly because I'm curious to see what a Thanix cannon can do to a Reaper.
I'm interested to see if a Reaper beam weapon can damage them.

I'd like to see the return of the Mako alongside the Hammerhead.
Unless the ground vehicle was mission mandatory (like Hammerhead jumping), you could pick which one you take out.

I'd also like to be able to go down to the Vehicle bay to do this!
Like, walk over to them and get in it personally.
That was one of my biggest disappointments in ME2, that I couldn't go down there and look at them closely!

As for a submersible level, I'd like to see the Hammerhead outfitted for aquatic environments.
After all, it's a shark and sharks can swim! :o

I would also like to see both the mako and hammerhead brought back. Let you pick the vehicle you want to use and take a different path to get there.

I enjoyed driving the mako around and jumping off mountains and I had no problem fighting in it.
I enjoyed driving the hammerhead around and sightseeing. I hated driving the hammerhead and not being able to do those stupid jumps from one place to another or having to fight in it.

I killed my entire crew by suicide because I got so frustrated I just kept hitting the _____ mountain until I exploded in a blaze of glory. And this is every **# time I pick it up. Eventually I'll get it and do overlord but I do not do any other hammerhead mission.

One thing they could do to make the hammerhead less hateful would be letting me save the game more often. Every time I've tried one of the hammerhead missions, if I die I have to start the whole thing over. This brings large hate to my heart especially if I've done 4 out of 5 assignments.

If they do any real space battles, I hope it's a DLC so I can skip it.

For me, vehicles should be used in these ways:

- As part of missions
- To explore uncharted worlds
- To navigate hubs

These should be the vehicle types:

- Mobile Tank (like Hammerhead)
- Skycars (to navigate hubs)
- Normandy (for space battles)
- Heavy Tank (like Mako, soaks up bullets)

These are the areas that need improvement:

- Repair: Fast shield regen and slower auto-repairing armor
- Enemies: Mobile vehicular enemies, weak infantry (one-hit kill)
- Exploration: Varied environments, easier terrain
- Mobility: Easy control
- Customisation: Weaponry, protection, mobility and appearance

Just what I think.
