Unstickied and stickied again! Any mods know what the deal is?

Mako prowling was fine.

The problem was the mini-game of mineral exploration. You had to roam over the whole map to find 3 or 4 nodes on each planet you could lan on just to get some dubious achievement. If the minerals were actually used for something (like ezo) or gave you more money it would be fine.

There was one mission on a tropical planet that was like a Star Wars trench run. Absolutely beautiful.

Give me Mako with stupid stuff to do.

The virmire run in ME1 was one of my absolute favourite moments in the franchise. Virmire in general was a real highlight mission, story and gameplay wise.

I want to fly one of those gunships that the mercs are always shown in in ME2 though I'm guessing the Alliance uses the same platform or something similar.

That could be really fun. Or shooting from the side while being flown to a location, much like the CoD helicopter missions.

Or maybe a Ghost in the Shell Tachikoma type vehicle! With the same quirky and spunky personality (AI).

I find rail shooting sections in games that are not strictly rail shooters frustrating and out of place.  The Gears of War series has some truly hateful rail segments.  Resident Evil 5 had one or two as well.  I understand the cinematic appeal of these scenes, but they feel out of place and quickly lose the wow factor on subsequent playthroughs.  I would prefer cutscenes to rail shooting.

I'm hoping for an exploration mode in a gunship like the Mako in ME1 but flying about instead of trying to drive up a mountain.  As cool as I think that would be I'm afraid it would be to much of a flight sim and adding that aspect to a shooter/RPG onto a disk with only so much space is unlikely but again, I think it would be cool.  In order to make it happen, ME3 would likely have to be on 3 disks for xbox 360.

That sounds much more appealing than a rail shooter segment, but I share your concerns about feasibility.  It seems that Mass Effect should stick to being a shooter RPG, especially if delving into flight sim territory detracts from the rest of the game, or cannot be implemented well.

I think there's a danger of trying to do too much in these big budget games.  Gears of War 2 threw in a few vehicle segments that were about as enjoyable as having your gums scraped.  I play Gears for the third person shooter elements, not the vehicles.  Similarly, I turn to Mass Effect for third person shooting and RPG elements, not for a flight/rover sim.  I would be perfectly content if whatever vehicles we use in ME3 are relegated to optional content like in ME2 with DLC, or left solely in the realm of cutscenes like in vanilla ME2.

I do understand that vehicles can break the monotony and keep the gameplay fresh, but when playing Mass Effect  I never thought to myself, "Gee, I'd rather be humping a cliff in the MAKO right now."

Lol that's a pretty great quote.

I don't think Mako cliff humping is really what any of us are campaigning for in this thread, but I understand where you're coming from none the less.

the weird thing about the mako was that we seemed to have a different one for every planet, So if it got badly damaged on one world we could go somewhere else and it would be fully repaired but if we went back to the world it was damaged then it would still be badly damaged

To Paraphrase Randy Koppel: "Playing an on Rail shooter segment in a game is like sucking t!t through a sweater."
I personally have grown to hate rail shooting and I never liked them that much to begin with. I hate not being able to have the freedom to strategize on the fly. A lot of games seem too automatic and they seldom if ever give you the option to turn off those features. Rail shooting is a symptom of this problem.

If they have an aerial vehicle segment it should resemble either Halo's Banshee segments or BFBC 1's Helicopter level.  (with better )

If it's short and to the point I don't mind a quick pot shot from the side of a helicopter. I agree that on rails (beyond that) can get annoying. If it's short and sharp though, i'm all for it, much like LotSB's hovercar chase. It's not a mechanic that you'd make a gameplay staple, just a quick little moment to make things more varied, interesting and fun.

i hate vehicles in ME . Shepard is there to fight, ( well and f*** ) . When i want to drive , i play Dirt 3 .
to me , all the driving interludes( hammerhead , taxi in shadow broker ) were just aggravating .

Frankly, I'd take a giant bunny battle mech that can take off its ears and wield them as swords as long as it's more fun than the physics induced nightmare that was the mako's controls.

Some hybridization of the Mako and Hammerhead: Mako weapons and shields, but Hammerhead mobility. Result: BioWare will have to make much more difficult vehicle sequences with more enemies. Everybody wins.

Don't just limit it to vehicles. Practically everything about ME would be better if they combined the best of both games.

I think I said this before but I want a submarine or under water vehicle for Kahji when we go to the Hanar homeworld! I want to be able to go to those prothean ruins I've heard about and I figure they'll be mostly underwater which would be fun navigating the ship through the debris and tight spaces of the flooded zones also make the sub yellow :)

We should be able to drill with those big mining lasers when on Mars shep uses his prothean knowledge to figure out if they drill in a curtain location they'll get into a prothean ruin and we need to get the laser BW don't just put it there conviently sitting right where we need to use it.

Wow @ all the e3 stuff. Looks like we can cross some stuff off the list- Normandy Air Strikes being one, controlling turrets being another. Looks like we might get some really interesting vehicle play this time around!

On foot turrets are a must for me in defence missions. :)

I'd say that the argument: That it would be impossible for a guy/group on foot to take out a reaper space ship could be used just the same for a spacefighter.

Hmm... How about normandy the dreadnaught? Find and repair that big ole space cannon that blew a reaper to pieces -> accidentally hit the volus homeworld.
