Found these around on the nets, these are concepts for 1 man fighters from the 1st mass effect.
Shows you they have been considering space combat for a long while! I'd imagine shep would get something fancier looking than these though.

I like both the Hammerhead and the Mako. They're 2 different vehicles both with their deficiencies (though the Hammerhead has more).
You can find some of those fighters as static props on one of the N7 missions. And yeah, fighters play a role. But not one I want Commander Shepard taking.

Those look cool.
i dont get why everyone gets so freaked at the idea of shepard flying a ship. hes not a real soldier. it doesnt matter if real spec ops cant fly, he's a space marine who can throw guys with his mind powers. real spec ops guys can't do that either.
if space combat is fun, who cares what he should or shouldnt be doing. theoretically a guy who died 2 years ago shouldn't be revivable, but hey they did that, so why should space combat be so subject to the laws of the real world?

I have to be honest, I would not like space combat.
Space combat would take me out of the zone so fast.

this thread is just great. I couldn't care less about space combat but the disscusion about the Hammerhead is great and many important subjects were shown. I hope Bioware can patch the Hammerhead's armor and rocket power already in ME2.

So, casey's interview saying they want space combat to be part of me:
and Space combat being part of KOTOR

looks like we could be in luck maybe? At least bioware will have some experince doing space combat before ME3 comes out.

While I wouldn't mind a re-making of the Mako or Hammerhead to make them a more interesting part of the game, I would not want to see space combat under any circumstances.
The reason? As others have stated, Shepard isn't a pilot. As far as the lore goes, it takes years of training in order to be able to fly these vessels reliably, and I would be hard pressed to believe that anyone--the alliance, cerberus, etc--would put such a valuable asset in such a vulnerable position.

eh, I think people are reading too much into it. it's a sci fi game, if they want shep to be a pilot, he'll be a pilot.
realism really isn't a factor in the ME series. Perhaps faux-realism but even then it's very flexible, which is good.
