Hi

Windows 7 fully updated
Intel AMD quad core 2,80gz ( 8 cpus )
8192 DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA  GEFORCE GTX 275 ( x2 in crossfire )

Trying to import my ME1 savegames to ME2

Tried running the ME2 configurator and importing the savegames , no go. When i start ME2 it doesnt detect any savegames.

Saw that people copied their ME1 savegames into the ME2 save folder , found this recipe online and used it

Step 1: Open your Mass Effect 1 save game folder default is
C:Users->(Username)->Documents->BioWare->Mass
Effect->Save
Step 2: Find the .MassEffectSave file you want
(Do not copy the .MassEffectProfile file).
Step 3: Open the Mass
Effect 2 Save game folder and you should see a folder called ME1. Paste
the .MassEffectSave file into it. Default for win 7 is
C:Users->(Username)->Documents->BioWare->Mass Effect
2->Save->ME1
Step 4: Launch The Game
Step 5: Click
Play on Launcher
Step 6: Pick New Game
Step 7: Import ME1

Didnt work either

Now here's my second problem, in my ME2 save folder there was no ME1 folder , i had to create it manually before copying the savegames. It seems other people have this folder from when installing the game ( ?)

This folder exists ;  C:\\Users\\Andreas\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass
Effect 2\\Save

but this folder did not exist and i had
to create the ME1 folder manually ; C:\\Users\\Andreas\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass
Effect 2\\Save\\ME1

Also ;

ME1 is installed on an external drive while ME2 is on my internal drive, could this be the cause?

Edit ; I reinstalled ME1 on my internal drive, same problem

Both ME1 and ME2 have all available mods installed ( Bioware is getting rich on my account :bandit: )

I've completed both games long ago, so i saved the old ME1 savegames on an external disc, and tried to import them when i bought ME2 just as it hit the stores. It couldnt import the games at that time either BUT at that time i completed ME1 on Windows XP , dont know if that matters ( surely doesnt matter no as i've deleted the old savegames and im starting all over again )

I've reinstalled both games 2-3 times , same problem occurs

shouldnt matter what type of saves you use, ive got an ME1 save from before Xmas, a couple of fresh ones made since i bought ME2 and one imported from a website (all had completed the game), all imported fine.

Im assuming your pointing the ME2 config at the correct ME1 save folder?

well yea but you have completed the game with them , i havent with the new ones ( could be maybe the old ones are corrupted or something, they've been lying dormant since ME1

Yes im pointing the config at the right place also..

Anyone? Surely i cant be the only one having this problem . Maybe i'll contact bioware directly, if i can find the appropriate mail adress

Edit ; i can always try ;

completing ME1 on my comp ,
then copy the savegames to my brothers computer,
importing to his ME2 ,
then copy back to my comp and continue the game

will this work?

Yes, only completed saves will work. (In those instructions, Step 2 should really say "Find the Char_01*.MassEffectSave file you want.") But they should work, which does raise the question what was going on with the old ones.

You could try copying your old completed saves to the Mass Effect 2\\Save\\ME1 directory manually.

You have to have beat the game and have the credits role that creates a master save that imports to ME2
