Yesterday night I was doing the quest UNC:Cerberus and I found a Salarian corpse. And the description said he was part of Cerberus. A salarian.

So my question is.. why is an alien part of Cerberus? I mean, what happened to the "HUMANITY 4EVERRRR!" thing? Or perhaps I'm missing some info? I don't know but it shocked me because the idea of Cerberus I have it's a very xenophobic organization :-m

Also, later in the quest you discover some facilities where they are doing experiments. For the people who have read the books: Do you think it has to do anything with Ascension project?

And, last thing: Why do you think Cerberus killed Admiral Kahoku? And, about the chat with the shadow broker agent, What did you do? Did you sell him the info or kept it?

Here it's what I think: They must've been doing something wrong at those facilities. So that's why they killed Kahoku. So he couldn't get away with the info. But they didn't count on Shepard so I'd say Cerberus contacted the Shadow Broker so they could get back those disks.

Thoughts?

I never did this quest but I know that Cerberus for a fact will take help from aliens to get what they want. As we saw in Ascension or in ME2.

I don't know about those facilities but I'm sure that the Illusive Man has more than one trick up his sleeve, and I don't think he'd let out facilities like this in public, I'd believe that they would just be some sort of cover-up to what he's really doing. Even if they get caught doing something bad, this bad thing might just be a cover-up to something worse.

I for one think that Cerberus is not at all a pro-human organization and the Illusive Man is the only one aware of it.

The organization isn't xenophobic, but many of its' employees are. The salarian could have been a defector, and would spy for Cerberus op spy on Cerberus for the STG.

If you read the book Ascension or the comic Redemption, you'll see that Cerberus will make use of any alien that can get them information they need. As for why an alien will work for an organization so pro-human, even though we know quite a lot about Cerberus, they are still supposed to be somewhat covert, so they can get aliens helping them who are ignorant of their true motives. Or the aliens can simply be very well paid. Money is good for getting you to ignore who you're working with.

That is definetely a weird side quest.
I just finished this side quest today before I moved to Therum  and I found that salarian too. I wasn't even believing on what I was seeing. A salarian was a Cerberus member? And why was he killed? It' understandable that Cerberus allowed Shepard to recruit some aliens but I don't understand why Cerberus recruited that salarian.

Cerberus killed Kohake because he would give data about Cerberus to the Shadow Broker and as far as I know, Shadow Broker and Cerberus are enemies. I kept the data, I don't trust in the Shadow Broker, too risky to give it him.

Another thing I noticed is a bug. If you save while you are in one facility and then reload, you will find Kohaku's corpse in the facility where you saved the game and another Kohaku's corpse in another facility. Weird, isn't?
