Hello.

I don't have any music in Dragon Age: Origins. There's no music during cinematics or combat or anything. I have reinstalled three times and I have tried with and without installing any patch.

(And yes, my "Disable Music" box isn't checked :P

I'm running Windows 7 64

Any help would be much appreciated!

Are you running a surround sound setup by any chance?

Say no more. Thank you so much! You saved me a lot of frustration. Note to self: Learn to setup your surround configurations correctly. ><

Guess I was wrong. I'm hearing music in the main menu just fine. But not in-game. This time with a stereo setup and/or headphones.

There have been a few other topics about this though no solution has been found to my knowledge. I recently ran into the issue just a week ago (after playing the game for months). I have done everything from removing all mods, reinstalling to 2 seperate HDDs, uninstalling/reinstalling audio drivers to uninstalling Awakenings (or not installing at all), reverting to patch 1.02a, etc. Nothing has worked and I only hear music during the menu and cutscenes but nothing in-game.  Hopefully a solution can be found soon, at this point I have no idea what could be causing the issue.

I faced the same problem after I installed a mod. It turns out, the sound files in the core game folder
"D:\\Games\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core_ep1\\audio\\sound"
were conflicting with the ones in "C:\\Users\\(my username)\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\AddIns\\gxa_res_to_core\\core\\audio\\sound" folder.

So I deleted the files in the latter folder that were common to the former, and viola! This fixed the problem. :)
