Did anyone else notice that Legion and Grunt have too many advantages over the other squadmates? Legion gets a custom Sniper Rifle, Grunt gets a custom Shotgun. Legion has extremely good shields & 2 shield upgrades, Grunt has extremely good health & 2 health upgrades. And both of their loyalty abilites provide bonus protection. They designed them to be the best and reflect each other to make the perfect squad. Does anyone else think they should have made more of the squadmates like this?

Personally, i wish Garrus had the same advantages as Legion.

If you don't mind Kelly dying during the Suicide Mission you can have Legion with you on 2 recruitment missions (or 3 with the Kasumi dlc) and all loyalty missions after the IFF mission.

Grunt can take quite some damage before dying, but his powers are pretty useless and I have him equip the AR instead of the Claymore during almost all missions.

All squadies have good and powerful abilities. I don't think Legion and Grunt are OPed at all.

But my squad of Garrus and Miri pwn them every time, i do admit though that when i get legion at near the endgame, i do replace him for Garrus, grunts good but his recklessness can somtimes goes him his 'life' espesially on Insanity, there fore making him redundat.

Legion is the best squadmate in the game. Grunt, on the other hand, has a whole lot of protection and HP to make sure he never dies....but he hasn't got anything worth keeping him alive for. His offensive powers are all pretty useless.

I pretty much never used Grunt - I hated not having control of his charge. On Insanity, loss of control means instant squadmate death, so he got to sit in the cargo bay all alone. I like Legion , but I recruited him so late in the game I never wound up using him much. Thane, Miranda, and Mordin were by far the most useful for my style of gameplay; melting armor to makes targets easy prey.

They are meant to be characters that can last in fight. Other characters are designed to work in tandem as well. Biotic characters are designed to go together (Samara and Thane as well as Jack and Miranda). Most importantly is that certain characters I designed to go with certain player classes. If you are a vanguard then Garrus and Miranda are good for Shepard. If you are an Adept then Samara and Thane are good for Shepard. Certain characters work better with certain classes.

Not totally right. If you´re making 5 N7 Missions after Horizon and then just the Collector Vessel and the Reaper IFF you can take the never infiltrating Infiltrator with you to 3 Recruitment Missions and all Loyalty Quests ;)

In my opinion there´s no best Squaddie. Everyone has his advantages and disadvantages. If you´re taking Legion and Grunt on Insanity as a Soldier maybe it´s not easy to take out enemy defences.

He has incendiary ammo and an AR with infinite ammo.  That is good solid damage in addition to his strong defense.  I'm finding him extremely useful as an infiltrator because he is a great "tank" while I am not.  I almost never used him on my soldier because I did just fine up in the front.

I think Garrus with his Armor Piercing Ammo combined with a Mantis can match the Legion's Widow at least.

I play with legion and grunt on my soldier. Revenant, claymore, and widow. Fun.

Neither Legion or Grunt have significant offensive biotic or technological abilities, but they're the best survivalists in the game.

Grunt yes, he can fend for himself and make a half decent attempt at decimating the enemy at the same time. Legion however, I find dies fairly regularly if left to his own devices, even with GSB. Though he certainly packs a punch on the offensive capabilities.

They both take lot of punshment, but Grunt is less effective with the Claymore than he is with the Eviscarator, overall his damage output isn't anything special, far beyond Thane, Garrus or Zaeed. Legion lacks an Ammo Power, which balances his widow use. He only gets very powerful if someone else gives him squad ammo (okay this also applies to Thane). So they both aren't overpowered, i think it's ok.

On Grunt's loyalty mission he shouted I am Korgan and charged Uvek, uvek was partly on fire at the time so he burned as grunt ran through him.

Grunt is invaluable on Insanity. I give him Squad Incendiary Ammo, the highest regen ability and then boost his shield as much as possible. If you're Soldier you can take incendiary ammo yourself, and let Grunt take tier 4 shield boost. Then he's next to immortal.
