Game info: Mass Effect 2, physical disk, v1.01
System Info:
Intel Core2 6600 @2.4GHz
2GB Ram
NVidia GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
Driver Version 190.38
Sound adapter: Speakers
Driver Version 6.1.7600.16385
Windows 7
Problem Details:
After the conversation upon the discovery of the human reaper, when Shepherd says "We've got company", I hear the sound of an approaching platform, but the game hangs when I try to turn towards it. After closing the game and restarting it, loading the last save simply hangs on the loading screen.
I have tried this with various members of the team, and have even restarted the game from scratch, but cannot get past this point.
End Game hang (spoilers)

Recurring errors in the same spot often indicate a corrupt installation, especially when the game is otherwise working fine. This can mean some trouble if you have to re-install. The good news is, if the problem does lie with (a) corrupted file(s), nothing is going wrong with your system.
If you got the game through a Direct Download service like Steam, Impulse, etc. you may be able to tell the download client to "Verify" your installation and make sure all the files are intact. If you have the game on disc, or if your Direct Download service doesn't support verification for Mass Effect, you'll have to re-install.
When re-installing Mass Effect 2, make sure to tell the game to keep your settings & saves when you un-install.
To try verifying your files on your Direct Download service:
In Steam, right-click on the game and select "Properties." Select the "Local Files" tab and click the button that says "Verify integrity of game cache..."
In Impulse, right-click on the game. On the menu that pops up, there may be an option to "Verify Installation." (I do not see this option for my Mass Effect 2 DDE. Can anyone comment on Mass Effect 1?)
Direct2Drive: Don't know, never used it. Can anyone comment?
EA Download Manager: Don't know, never used it. Can anyone comment?

No need to comment on the other download services; this is a physical disk installation. I can try uninstalling and reinstalling; it would be nice if this would help.

Install and patch. Also might as well update your sound and graphics drivers along with direct x, after all it doesn't hurt.

Heh, right, sorry. People who seemed to have corrupt installs were getting so common for a while that I actually wrote up that whole form thing. Haven't had to bring it out for a while, though, so I'm a bit rusty in remembering all the spots it should be customized.
