I did a few quests (Stone Prisoner, and Wardens Keep) before I picked her up....

So she has revival (group heal) and earth quake (rock armor, stone fist).....

In addition to

Arcane Bolt
Regeneration (and 2 prerequs)
Heroic Aura and (1 prereqs)

I want to take Leliana also although I am a rogue with a duelist/ranger Longsword/dagger STR build....  Leliana as a love interest....

I thought I would need Alistair to tank, but maybe I could just tank and do whirlwinds and dual sweeps and just have all that ranged goodness???  I might need more dex and I'd have pets....

So 1) Most importantly how to spec Wynne? {no respec}

      2) What do you think about Alistair Versus Morrigan?

The ranged plus 1 Tank and animals option seems good I am a dwarf and with spellward and dweomer runes (maybe a piece of ancient elven or 2?) I could become the target of Some AOE spells and not take much damage......  Leliana could cast the stunning bard spell to help me to pound backstabs right in their face.  Pinpoint striking other times and dirty fighting riposte...  I have the ability that lets you backstab stuns...

I get Hasten first with Wynne since she's started that line already. Then it depends, maybe mana clash if I'm not going for that with Morrigan. Everything in spirit heal line is good for her except maybe the final ability.

I always make Wynne a blood mage at 14 and try to get 2 arcane tomes for her by then so she can get Blood Wound (if I'm not playing a mage). Blood mage is just too awesome.

I'd think Alistair would make a better party member than Morrigan. You want someone who can tank and keep aggro and it's going to be hard for a rogue to do this.

Thanks for the suggestions.. Here's what I thought about...

So sounds like morrigan is not a good idea.  I use momentum so I won't use haste.  Plus haste drains mana really fast whenever I tried it.  I have the wardens armor on my rogue so he has a lot of stamina.  I can get Alistair and my dwarf pretty magic resistant so we might not need mana clash (1 awesome/situational spell for 3 crap ones).

I haven't played through pc mage yet so I can't get blood mage :(

I tend to make Wynne into an Arcane Warrior, so that she can wear Fire resist armor when we go hunt for dragons; just the first talent will do, though if you wish to have her more involved in combat, go for all of it.

Besides the ever helpful Primal lines of Cold & Fire, I suggest getting Glyphs for Wynne; too helpful and versatile to skip. Also be sure to obtain Mental Blast and Force Shield; great spells for many occasions.

you type [ quote ] at the start and [ / quote] at the end (remove the spaces).

You could make Wynne a "Paladin". Focus her on support and heal magic and then take Arcane Warrior at level 14.

Personally I don't think a tank is necessary. It certainly makes life easier for your mage(s) but two mages with a bit of crowd control each should have no trouble staying alive. Two mages and two rogues or three mages and one rogue can work just fine.

Seems like she'll have about 15 or 16 more talents if I use elf root (not early but just by the end) to boost her

1(level 10) Mind Blast
2 Force Field
3 Life Ward
4 Glyph Paralysis
5 Glyph Warding
6 Flame Blast
7 Flaming Weapons
8 Fireball
9 Life Ward
10 Armor Ability of Arcane W
11 Petrify
12 Mass Rejuvenation
13 Glyph Repulsion
14 Glyph of Neutralization
15 Inferno (or telikenetic weapons)
16 Spell Wisp (at level 25 no books)

Then I can pump Morrigan up.  With some CC too.  Have 2 animal companions.  And bard confusion....

Sounds more tactically interesting than TAUNT TAUNT TAUNT
plus maybe some dialogue between all ladies funny :wizard:

That sound ok?

For myself, I skip Life Ward, Petrify, and Mass Rej; the last one especially, as it really seems to lack zip. Life Ward and Petrify are OK, but there are better spells, and filling the Glyphs earlier will make game life so much easier.

I wonder if you made a tactics enemy sighted: mass rejuvenate if it would be any good? I would think you might recover the mana used to cast it so might as well? How long does it last?

You can have wynne just always cast lifeward on tank so its always up even out of combat... its a little annoying but if regenerate and heal don't do the job then it kicks in...

I almost never use Lifeward because there are very few more annoying animations. Petrify is really good, and worth a talent point. Mass Rejuvenate is worth one talent point, but probably not two of them. I just getting petrify, and unlocking blood mage by downloading a save game off the nexus, and using it to unlock the Blood Mage spec.

Blood Mage + Spirit Healer = Infinite Heals saves money on pots.

Willpower: 25-30

Magic: Rest

Con: 15-20

+ Vessel of the spirit = Good Game.

I didn't know you could have party companions use the tomes. Last time I tried that it said player character only can use them. That was on the PC.

In camp, only the pc can use them.  Anyone can use a tome out of camp.

I usually have Wynne be the heal bot and stick to healing. If an enemy mage is sighted then maybe crushing prison, stone fist, etc. If my pc is a mage, then I don't travel with Wynne unless for quest reasons. Spirit healer/blood mages are awesome for all-around usefullness and they don't have to worry about mana...once you have blood mage unlocked.

If I have Wynne cast more than heal spells, arcane bolt and etc, she will usually be low on mana and will drink up lyrium potions like she was addicted, so I don't usually bother with haste and high mana aoe primal spells.  If you were able to give her the blood mage spec, which I see you can't atm, or you don't mind crafting plenty of lyrium potions, then her mana usage would be less of an issue.  Generally, I prefer to keep Wynne in heal-bot mode and let the rest of the party do the damage.  Ideally, my pc is the lone mage and Wynne + Morrigan are sitting back at camp.

So far (I'm a slow player) she has glyph of paralysis and that is very awesome spell... Her earthquake spell was also stupendous for ostagar when your getting tagged by archers offscreen.. By the way I wish you could use the arrow keys to more effectively scroll across the map a lot of times I can't see what types of enemies and I have to run into there kill zone..

Sometimes when I want to scout ahead, as my mage, I'll select fireball and move the cursor around corners and etc to see if there are enemies behind. If I choose not to actually cast the spell, then I just cancel. Having someone skilled in survival also helps.

Last night for the demon in Redcliff I rather quickly spec'ed a lvl 11 Wynne with two Spell tomes into an AW and sent her into the Fade alone. Aside from one reload when I didn't pay attention to her health, she did pretty good. Not a good replacement for a tank of course, but even with mostly 'off the cuff' gear she well.

how did you get her to be an arcane warrior before level 14? I am guessing respec mod??

Ah, yes. Should've mentioned that I guess. Yes I use the respec mod rather liberally. Mostly just to slide skills around to take use of quests that need them.
