Maybe not Sovereign itself per-say but could very well be reference to another Reaper.

Doubtful, the implications are the Leviathan was decidedly organic.

It was Thomas Hobbes.

Likely a reference to another reaper.

Again, it's described as a "corpse", not a "wreck". It's a decidedly organic vessel - which if the Reapers showed up as would blow the "geth ship" explanation out of the water.
It's probably a remnant from a previous cycle; maybe even Prothean. We don't really know anything about their starships.

They say it's almost a billion years old. The Reapers arch nemesis mayhaps? Organic vs. Synthetic starships. Would be cool.

Must have skipped right past the age of it, then. That's on me. Alright, almost certainly not Prothean. Some much older cycle.

Or a reference to Farscape.

Quite possibly. Leviathan was the name of Malaks flag ship in SWKotOR right?

Its probably a Farscape reference. Within context of the ME continuity, it may be some form of proto-reaper before they found their fully metallic squiddy form, or they may even be connected to some anti-reaper 'beings of light' that was mentioned by the insane billionaire volus in the planet description (I don't recall which planet) in ME1.

Either it was anti-Reaper or it was an early form of Reaper.

Malak's ship, Leviathan, was a Republic Interdictor-class cruiser, so there were no organic parts to her and she was lost at the battle of Rakata Prime along with the Star Forge.

Could possibly have been the originating race? You know, what the Reapers are modeled after. Or even possibly their creators...

Here's a fun theory..

It was Sovereign, the actual Reaper, in its hiding place.. The baterians have been indoctrinated to deny its existence. :P

I thought it was the Batarians who first discovered Sovereign and then Saren took possession of it after killing the Batarian businessman who knew about it. That's what Revelations says anyway.

It seems to fit the theory if you ask me.

its impossible for it to be sovereign, unless he has served the position of vanguard multiple times. this thing was a billion years old, and from what the salarians who discovered said, was also dead.

I think that is a good theory. After the reapers creator was discovered, collectors heard about it and paid batarians to take it and deliver to them.

I think it is another Reaper, yes.

It is a genetically engineered starship and we now know the Reapers are part organic.

A dead Reaper could be described as both a corpse or a wreck. Both are applicable.

Why? We only know that they came from a certain mass relay and was killed about 2000 years ago - not that they haven't been around long before that.

Because if we assume the gap between the Prothean Extinction and Sovereign's attack on the Citadel to be an average, there have been roughly twenty thousand Reaper cullings of any life advanced enough to use the Mass Relays between the approximate time of the Leviathan of Dis and the Mass Effect timeline.

The idea that the rachni hide for 999,998,000 years and then get Indoctrinated when Sovereign rolls around is kind of absurd.

Maybe they are good at stealth? :P

On a more serious note, point taken.
