Mass Effect 3 pulls in over 1,000 variables from Mass Effect 2
http://www.joystiq.c...-mass-effect-2/

We'll have an interview with Mass Effect chief Casey Hudson for you
soon, but we wanted to give you this interesting little tidbit from the
interview. Hudson says, "We're pulling in probably over a thousand
variables from Mass
Effect 2
into Mass Effect 3 if you're importing your
save game."

It's an impressive number to be sure, but keep in mind, they're not all
reality-shifting choices. For example, Mass Effect 2 is
slightly different depending on what advice you give to Rebekah
Petrovsky regarding her baby (remember her?). So maybe not 1,000 earth-shattering
variables.
-

Woa if they are doing that to ME3, I wonder if DA2 will receive similar treatment or the Awakening style? hmm ...

I agree with you completely. Who cares about TOR? They should've shown a good game.

Oh gosh. I can't wait to see what e-mails and cameos I get as a result of my vastly important ME2 decisions.:P

What?! Have you played KOTOR? It's amazing, and TOR will definitely be the biggest game on the market for years to come.

Here's the thing, it's not really an MMO. Most of the game, like 90% can be done without the help of anyone else. The option to engage in multiplayer games is optional. It's like KOTOR, except 10 times longer. Story is taking a huge role in the game.

no matter how you put it it doesnt appeal to me....... my predictions is it will be strong for 6 months to a year at the most then it will fade away like every other mmo, i hate to say this but WoW is king in the mmo category

Fade away? LotRO's been going strong for what, 3yrs now? Just gonna get stronger with the move to F2P. DDO had a 300% rise in either users or profit (I forget which) when that went F2P. EverQuest 1 and 2 are both supported by Sony and are continuing to do well.
It'll only fade if it bombs, and I honestly don't think it will. TOR does have a strong single player component if all the PR and preview stuff is right, and I think that will be an asset.

Don't try and explain things to them. They wanted to see their DA:O2...and they didn't get it so now they are going to bash bash bash. "WE DIDN'T GET DA:O2! WE MUST BASH EA AND BIOWARE!" "TOR SUCKS!"

well WoW is still king of that fantasy genre Lotro might be doing well but its not on top. And im shure there will be some big fans of TOR but it will never reach player numbers that The big blizzard game does. Hey i love star wars and i love mmos but this one just doesnt look polished IDK ill have too see if there are any Gameplay videos at E3 that might make me interested buty that fact is that it will not be king.

Okay this is nothing but a rumor since the guy went shut mouth on me, but an employee at gamestop told me they were notified of two DLC/expansions and DA2 coming out in the course of the next year and half. He stated they have been given no titles or dates of release. When I pushed for where he got his intell he stopped talking.

I have no idea if the guy was being straight with me or just getting my goat...and what exactly does that mean? getting my goat? Pulling the wool over my eyes would be sheep. Taking the animal would be theft, not fooling me. Excuse my crazy tangent. If the foreshadow codex was for three different expansions instead of three bullet points then maybe he was right.

Yeah... but it is an MMO. You cant buy it, not go online, and just play by yourself right? Your forced online with the monthly fees and all? And yeah, I played both KOTORs, and loved them.

I dislike MMOs in general, but what really pisses me off about TOR, is that this MMO crap is what we're getting instead of a proper KOTOR 3. Let alone that they'd rather show it off than DA2 or ME3.

No, it won't, and nor will anything else for a while. WoW was a right time/right place release and it's just gone from strength to strength, and I don't think any company deserves to fail. Either way, TOR appeals to a different branch of the audience than WoW generally would.

Quoting from the G4 interview with Bioware's Greg Zeschuk:

Morgan Webb: "Do you have any sort of ideas for the future of these really popular <unintelligable> franchises Dragon Age and Mass Effect?"

Greg Zeschuk: "Oh, we have some ideas, but we don't nessicarilly talk about them."

i don't know where you have heard all that, but from what i have been reading, TOR will be more like WOW, the classes are made based on the tank, DPS and healer mechanic, so soloing is pretty much out of the picture.

TOR will suck since it'll probably be 15$ per month and I'm not paying that kind of money for ANY game

Actually Bioware has been touting the soloing aspect of the game.  You can check the official TOR FAQ as well as various interviews (try gamespot) and their message boards.  They've also said they want to get away from the WOW (or even EQ) mold where multiple players beat down 1 enemy at a time, going for a far more heroic take on the MMO.  While I'm still skeptical, if they can in fact pull off playing an mmo as a Bioware single player rpg, then I'll give it a try.

I would consider getting TOR if you could play it offline and singleplayer, with no monthly fee. Hell, I'd even try it if it didn't have a goddamn monthly fee. As it stands, I wont even bother with a free trial.

Although I am not interested in TOR because I don't play MMOs I am glad that there were no announcements for the DA and ME series so soon.

The two games were released only a few months ago and some people have to be a bit patient if they expect quality sequels.

Normally I would agree and would not even expect DA2 so soon, but since they pulled that card in Awakening stunt I want to know what it's for! Not to mention that DA2 game was also set for first quarter 2011 in EA financial report. If something big really is planned for February which is little more than half a year away I would expect they would at least tell us minimum info such as the title rather soon.

Nuh-uh. "Untitled Dragon Age Release" is what it is in that report, it's never been called Dragon Age 2.
If it was DA2, we would have had something at E3 - It's as simple as that. There's a day left, but I don't think they'll announce it this late.

What makes you so certain we would have had something? There is no rule out there saying all new titles must be announced, hell if anything annoucing it away from E3 will lengthen it's hype since it's not sharing the spot light. And shouldn't you apply the same logic to an expansion pack if that is indeed what is coming in early 2011?

Expansion packs don't need the hype of a bigger game - They're instantly a smaller market. If you remember, Awakening was revealed not that long before release, so 6 months for a similar sized expansion would be too long.

There's games being advertised at E3 this year that aren't coming out until the beginning of next year, and if EA were announcing an Early 2011 release for DA2 we'd know by now. There'd be leaks, info floating about, an announcement to build hype and so forth. The lack of information strongly suggests DA2 is not the product hyped by the card. There is just too little information for a full length game due out in 7 months.

Well with the new DLC announced today about Leliana it is encouraging that the flyer placed in Awakenings is just to announce another expansion. Which would be better than a DA:2 at this time. Also I know there is more DLC in the works, for Morrigan which should be out later this year. When I ordered the letter openers I had to call the company concerning shipping. We got to talking about other ideas for DA items that epic could sell. He asked if I had heared about the DLC for Morrigan slated later this year, which I had not. He also went on to say that they are going to be making items for DA:O for a year or two which is good to know too
