Hmm... why do I get the feeling the "Story So Far" video and this demo is some kind of prep for launching ME on the PS3? Like they couldn't get the original ME, but with the second (and upcoming third) games now being published by EA they finished their exclusivity contract, and now need a "starting" point for new players to the series. E3 announcement incoming?

Interesting thoughts, though I figure an "improved version" of MGS4 or more released about Rising is more likely. Who knows what aspects of Mass Effect Microsoft has ownership of, and I can't really see them giving anything to Sony. Just like Bungie, no matter what they do you will never see a Halo game on PS3 (or any future generations).

It could be. Honestly, I'd be glad for it (even if I don't own a PS3). The more people can play it... well, how did Vonnegut say? The more, the merrier.

Actually, the demo is good for me.

Some of my friends don't like shooters at all, and therefore stayed clear of the ME franchise. Now that a demo is available, I could just ask them to try it and see if they like it.

Thanks and reminds me of a NOVA episode. By the way, the download link isn't in Quicktime format (for me anyway), it shows up as a flv or flash movie. Is that just me or was there a mess up?

You're right, the link was wrong, just fixed it.

I would like to sincerely thank the BioWare team for putting out this demo. I have ME2 for the 360, but it's also nice to be able to get my ME2 fix for free on my laptop as well. :)

Yay for ME2 demo! maybe now I can get a couple of my friends to get the sequel? I've been trying to without success so far, but I can't keep discussing ME1 with them forever. :)

I think they should have released it earlier, so eweryone can give it a try, but its better later than never.

Well it sold about 2 m copyes, and was released on PC and X360 on same time, so it is not as bad as it could be.

Actually, Mass Effect 2 also had a price drop, so I think that Bioware/EA is trying to squeeze in more sales, especially because Mass Effect 2 is not as big as something like Modern Warfare 2 (even though Mass Effect is better in my opinion, so don't think I'm hating or something like that please).

I just tried out the PC demo just to see how it would run my crappy PC and, it runs pretty much how you'd expect. :)

What's a little weird though is how you get the same "Story so far..." vid whether you select male or female. I'm geussing all the fem Shep players aren't too please with that.

Oh, and if ME2 gets ported to PS3 then i want Uncharted 2 for the 360. It's not that i don't mind having one less exclusive but there's a reason exclusive titles exist. In a perfect world every game would be multiplatform and you just play which ever one suits you but, sadly, that's not how the industry works.

Agreed with the point EA is trying to get in some more sales on this.  ME2 is 39.99 and the Platinum Hits edition of ME1 is 19.99.  So  you can get both for $60 plus tax, which is about what you would pay for most new xbox 360 games anyway.

I actually felt like downloading this, but my brother told me not to because I would fill up the hard drive on the xbox with a game that I already have the full version for. 2GBs would take a while to download since the top download speed is only 120kbs and I might get slowed down by my ISP because its this highspeed wireless will slow down if I upload or download too much. Also, its the best thing that I can get where I live, its either that or satellite internet(which is terrible) or dial-up(which is also terrible).
