So, Microsoft has had there e3 conference and it appears all natal (or  kentect four as it's called how) is all about trying to be another wii  with those type of shovelware casual games. They also announced a new Xbox360
that's black with sharp edges that doesn't look family freindly, and  some other crap.  I really think this is going to bomb in comparison to  the wii. I read it's like, $100 or something.  A wii is very cheap and  doesn't need other crap bought and I doubt most average people give a  dam that the xbox360 can use no attachment, esp for the price of the
console plus the thing.

Overall I think it is going to tank,

Yeah, Microsoft pretty much hosed their core audience in an attempt to appeal to a wider audience. They will probably end up failing to bring the wider audience in. Ahh well, the kids were starting to say Xbox was better than PC anyway. Should put them in their place. =P

The new 360 looks funky and futuristic and I don't like the new "Kenect" name (whatever it is).

As for what they've announced, nothing really that new. Kinect is going to have mild success at best, although I think with the rather large market penetration already garnered by the 360 I think it could possibly do better than I suspect. Games look a bit shoddy but they do have a Star Wars title and 15-ish release titles, which is a stronger start than the Wii had. Got to remember the 360 has already penetrated the market and has a good, strong foothold - This accessory is not really going to make much of a difference, especially considering the Wii itself has a few of them floating around, such as the Wii balance board. Activision's Guitar Hero series has proven that peripherals do and can sell in large quantities, so maybe Microsoft are onto something with Natal.

360 Slim is a long time coming, and it's released this week, so I know what I need to save for. Looks very nice, very modern, and I hope it's going to be a lot more reliable than the 360 has been known to be, although we've been lucky. My Halo 3 edition was fine (I traded it in), and my dad's only on his second in quite a few years, so yeah.

I had no idea about the Slim 360. I don't follow the console news as much as the game news. I might pick one up to retire my old 360 that is trying to die.

It's $300 and comes with a 250 gb HD. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same thing. No news on whether or not ti'll be more stable than the original one yet.

The current model xbox is already more stable than the original so I would assume the slim will be too.

Natal looks like a gimmick and doesnt interest me at all it actually looks like it makes watching things awkward, you would be sitting there afraid to move. Did anyone notice the guy who did the first demonstration of it was basically trying his best not to move until he wanted to show something? The star wars game got my hopes up then proceeded to look a bit horrible...

http://www.computera...e.php?id=250929 the guy onscreen is moving before the guy controlling him if you watch it.

I did like the look of Reach and GOW3 demo's got me excited for them.

360 Slim has inbuilt Wifi or whatever it is, 360 "normal" doesn't.

Ahh, that's right. Forgot about that part. Hard for me to notice those things as I've never owned any of the "third generation" consoles.

Well, the warranty of my Elite has been expired for a while now. So when it eventually breaks down, I know what version I'll buy.

I could have sworn we were speaking English ere. I don't think I'd be able to understand if we weren't. Are you saying I should type with a cockney accent? I can try, I guess...

And yet you've suddenly started paying attention to your grammar and spelling...

Anyway, so far the new Xbox sounds unimpressive. One Wii was quite enough.

Well, the new xbox version isn't all that special. Best wi-fi hardware possible for it is included, not to mention more than double the amount of hard drive space over the best 360 HDD available.

Metal Gear: Rising looks visually stunning, with being able to cut through all of the shown environments and the perfect cuts through enemies actually leaving them cleaved cleanly into parts.

Halo: Reach looks to be an incredibly fun co-op experience with the 4-man Spartan squads, not to mention the addition of ship-to-ship space combat.

It was no surprise that the majority of their conference was focused on Natal, aka Kinect. It was their biggest announcement last year, and it's no different this year. The launch titles do indeed look like no more than adapted Wii games.

However, the unnamed Star Wars game for Kinect looks to be a dream come true for anyone that grew up on the series. Finally, you get to *really* play out the Jedi fantasy. 1:1 motion controls for the lightsaber, and actually being able to call on the force with a wave of the hand. Even if the story is awful, the gameplay alone looks to be loads of fun. Who wouldn't want to pick up a tank and throw it into enemies with just a wave of your hand?

All in all the conference was pretty enjoyable. I can't wait for EA's conference in about 40minutes to see all of BioWare's new releases.

CmdrFenix were you really impressed by the star wars footage? I know its early in development but I thought it looked awkward and kinda random it looked like an HD wii game. I would like to see it again when its further into its development before passing judgement though. Speaking of Star Wars the TOR trailer was bloody awesome.

I wont say "thank you" as that would be arrogant presumption.

The graphics weren't the best, but the motion controls are a perfect 1:1.  Kinect isn't really all that impressive, but I still have some hope for what a great developer like BioWare could do with it.  Something of an incorporation of the controller with the voice and camera stuff.  As in, controller for combat, Kinect for npc interaction.

Both my girlfriend and I were pretty psyched by that Star Wars preview, though.  Graphically lacking or not, it still seemed like the ultimate Jedi combat experience.  Being able to actually do everything with just a hand movement is fairly impressive.

As for the TOR trailer, I just found out it was leaked early, but I haven't watched it yet.  EA's conference is only 20ish minutes away, and I'm going to watch it anyway.
