Terrible for the PS3 users as those of us on the PC will prove just how superior mouse aim is to joystick. I don't understand your comment about PC users tend to type and not use a mic. Pretty much everyone I know that plays on PC uses a mic.Rubbish Hero wrote...
This would be OK for CO-OP but probably terrible for competitive gaming.
Massive inbalance and PS3 users would probably use mic, pc users tend to type, many turn mic off altogether due to anoyingness.

Likewise. The vast majority of online gamers I've met have microphones. And most of them have ventrilo even if they don't have a microphone.

Probably because it's un-immersing (like achievements popping up) and most of us are anti-social. I recall reading Turbine claiming MMO's would be superior on consoles because it's more accessible and more socaible. Claiming it was a surprise MMO's became so popular on the pc as it was "the least social platform". That's sort of the point, many pc gamers feel more at ease socializing via typing than sitting in a room with a buddy or chatting with voice. It's especially annoying in raids when some fellow thinks he's general Patton barking orders.

Yea, but we are talking about Valve games. As someone who has poured hundreds of
hours into there games, the only actual game with users actively using mics near match per match is Counterstrike, other than that it's generally the norm to type.

I play L4D/L4D2 quite regularly and the majority have microphones. TF2 also has a great abundance of people with mics. Statistics seem to agree.

3/4 people on Steam have a microphone.

"Have" doesn't mean "Use", I have a mic, never use it.
According to my stats I have put about 20-50 hours into each Valve multiplayer game. On each server, you are lucky if "1" person from a match of 32 players is using a mic. Counterstrike is far more vocal, and by vocal Imean racist, rude, obnoxious, playing music through there mic for attention e.t.c.... Thank christ this isn't Xbox360 users.

I haven't owned a Nintendo system or played a Nintendo game since a couple years now but +1 Respect for Keeping Innovation Alive (yeah yeah, I mean on the hardware front) The gaming world would be a dreary gray place if not for these crazy island people.

Good trailer, seems very honest and to the point with out all the pretentious non-sense in all the others.
Also, Sid Meiers awsome, like the nice uncle you never had.

Actually, that might be the one area where the Xbox (and presumably PS3) have a slight positive over a PC. Though I would definitely imagine it depends on the game.
I have my settings changed so only friends can hear me and I can only hear my friends. Also, we usually do party chat when playing games together so... I don't ever have the problem of talking to jerks I don't wanna.
