So I have this wonderful problem where I can't install Awakening at all. I downloaded it through EADM and when I click on the arrow to install it, nothing happens. The program does not hang, it continues to run normally, it does not throw any errors. Nothing happens and I can't figure out why, hopefully someone on here will provide a little more insight.

Here's a link to my dxdiag^^

the important details:

Windows 7 x64
4gb of ram
i5 750

I just tried to make a video demonstrating the behavior but EADM must have code built into it to disguise it, everything else appeared on the screen except that window, so I can't really show exactly what's going on =/ :bandit:

With Windows 7 x64 it may be a blessing since the 1.03 patch makes your game crash every 5 mins.

The only fix I have heard of is to run the installer in win 2000 compatibility but from what I've seen this may not work but hey, it's something.

Above is the topic with the win 2000 compat. fix.

Doesn't work for me, either. =/ Shouldn't BW be more pro-active considering the number of people with install problems?

Install, crashes, slow downs, and lost DLC. Bioware hasn't fixed anything yet from the 1.03 but have no problem churning out new DLC.

Bottom line is they can make money off a broken game but it costs to fix the broken game.

I suspect it has more to do with EA purchasing the company than any desired and intentional wrongdoing on their part.

i could possibly try to help you but that would need to be over TeamViewer... Do you by any chance have a AIM or MSN i can contact you by to get this done?

Incidentally, since this thread is active and has someone who might know how to fix stuff! My install doesn't want to work either. I get some sort of RTPatch Executable(RTPatch Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.) sort of error. Then it fails my install. z_z

It seems to die when doing the patch for:

'modules\\single player\\data\\al_ntb340ar_lair_of_werewol.rim'

No idea what's up. .___. Grr.

@Kyn; What version of Dragon Age are you using? Retail, EADM, D2D, Steam?

@MischifMaker; Sounds like it could be a corrupt download. Is there any way you are able to redownload the content you're trying to install?

I have a retail copy of DA:O but after I formatted, I used EADM to install both games.

But super annoying, at least you get an error to check out : )

I do have MSN, but I honestly don't use it. My user name @rogers.com.

Finally! Some replies! I didn't even think to check on this tab, I had given up hope :D

Running setup in 2000 compatability mode worked for me. You may have to uninstall user made mods.

I uninstalled DAO, reinstalled, patched, installed Awakening (using the compatability mode, as described) and then installed the latest patch again.

Mybe it will help you.h

hey, i think i've found the solution for problem with ep1_core. When instalation fails, when there's unpacking ep1_core or after instalation patch 1.03 you should do 4 steps.

step 1

Copy game from dvd to your system (i don't know if i'ts necessary) or explore dvd. Then right click on setup and go to properties. ( or compatibility)

step 2

Next, choose Windows Compatibility mode for Windows 2000.

Step 3

img38.imageshack.us/i/dragonageeee.png/

I have pl ver. of windows, but YOU should choose what i choosed on this pic. (run in 256 colours etc.etc.)

Step 4 (optional)

Setup shuld call Setup.exe :)

I don't know, if i will help you, but it helped me. I if helped you, than write it in this topic. Sorry for my english.

Problemem jest to, że uciekam z obrazu już nie mam fizycznej kopii Awakening uruchomić. Próbowałem opcji zgodności, ale dziękuję za próbę pomocy!

I think I have a similar problem to yours, I posted a topic here as well

http://social.biowar...67244/1#4968134

And nobody answered me either. It's a shame since Bioware makes such good games but they have too many bugs.
