ROFL! Had a good laugh over that...

Anyway, would people prefer new characters for s/s love interests or existing characters for ME3?

For me, I don't really want any new characters. But I think it probably would work better to introduce s/s romances like that.

That depends on how the squad is handelt in ME3. I find it unlikely that all of them will stay with Sheppard after the events of ME2 and be suadmates in ME3. But this is a discussion for another thread.
A new suadmate would mean that there are no possible complains about retconning. Also all of the possible LI ( with the exeption of the f/f one) can die in either ME1 or 2 and it would suck big time if the now open for m/m squadmate is dead in my gay and single Sheppard´s playthrough and Sheppard will have to stay single again.

But I still hope that something will be done before ME3 and allow as s/s relationship for Sheppard in ME2.

Just posting to say that although it isn't what I'd do personally, I strongly support gay love interests being options in ME. If it's ok for Sheperd to fall in love with a god damn quarian, it's ok for him to fall in love with a guy too. There's no rational argument against it, and clearly the fans want it.

A petition of some sort would be a good idea, so there is a raw number of fans to convince Bioware there is support for this idea.

I would be ok with having same-sex romance in a game. If Bioware wants to do that, that's fine. If they don't, I'm still gonna want to play their games in any case :D

I'd like the returning squadmates that had had same-sex romances that got cut in ME 1 and 2 (e.g. Kaidan, Ash, Thane, etc.) to have optional same-sex romances in ME3. If anyone complains about retcons, Bioware can tell them, "Hey, we were gonna do this all along."

Probably not gonna happen, but seeing as new squadmates would probably be detrimental to the full cast returning in ME3, it's my preffered option.

Seriously, it was a huge leap to me that those two dextro-amino types would find a clammy pink-skinned simian like Shepard sexy. I just imagine Garrus and Tali smelling really bad, or having peculiar reproductive organs, and them having the same reaction to humans. I don't get the drell thing either, they also seem like they'd be stinky or have weird bits and pieces. Yuck!

True, and a lot of Tali fans will probably hate that I bring this up but...

Exosuit + Knowledge of Quarian culture/lifestyle = Stinky Tali.  I mean, she spends days, weeks, months on the Normandy and never takes that suit off.  Not to bathe, not to shower, not even to use the bathroom.  How she eats is beyond me.  Now I'm sure there is some amazing recycling technology at work behind the scenes here but come on...

I dare anyone here to wear the same clothes for even seven days straight in summer & go without a shower the same length of time and see how good you are at scoring with anyone afterward.  We're talking about the kind of BO that would gag a maggot.

You know, I'm one who edges around the Tali thread without making eye contact, and even I've got to say that suggests a fairly poor level of adaptation of the suit (you're underestimating the power of section seals, I bet), besides relying on the fairly massive assumption that a space ship (which are, one might be aware, designed to seal off sections) cannot generate a clean room under any circumstances. Absolute lowest-tech scenario you let her into the airlock, run decon, purge the atmosphere, run it again, pump in breathable air through the scrubbers. Presto! Nothing she didn't take in there with her.

To say nothing of the assumptions regarding quarian biology.

Agreed, I'm guessing the suits have all sorts of mechanisms built it to address these issues. After all, the Quarians are not likely to enjoy living in their own filth. (admittedly some creatures do, and it is possible, but I seriously doubt it - purely from a game developer standpoint)

If you want to go that far, you might as well note that everyone on board ship wears the same clothing throughout the mission and I have yet to see a bathtub on ship. Not to mention, you can approach and talk to these people anytime, day or night, yet they are never eating, sleeping, bathing, or going to the toilet. From that evidence I'd suggest the entire crew is impacted, malnourished, sleep deprived, and reek in a way that would melt your very eyes from their sockets.

You have to accept there are simply things which are not addressed in games.

Actually, I wouldn't mind this at all. They could toss in line for Tali to the effect "I wanted to approach you before ... but I was uncertain, I know how you humans can be about some things and I wasn't sure if you fealt the same ... that is, I wanted to believe you did, but ... oh, I'm sorry I talk too much ..."

It might just take some npcs longer to risk initiating a same sex relationship, for fear of being rejected badly and being treated oddly thereafter. Or maybe some of them weren't certain of their own feelings at the time and they need the room another game gives them.

In fact, I'd almost welcome that revelation, as it would mean your efforts to get close to certain people in ME2 were not, in fact, wasted but instead laid the ground work for a relationship in the third installment.

Either one is fine, although I do have a soft spot for Kaidan. Seeing the lines he had (later cut) in the original Mass Effect makes me nostalgic and very disappointed. I'd appreciate any form of s/s really - whether through ME2 DLC, romancing existing characters in ME3 or even new characters in ME3. Just a friendly "yes, we acknowledge your existence" from Bioware would be a good start.

They just wait until Shepard leaves the ship for a mission, then there's a mad dash to the crew restrooms while the boss isn't looking.
And Shepard showers at least once, in the pre-Omega-4 Garrus scene.

Did you ever consider the probability that homosexuality doesn't suit some of the squadmate's personality and character?

I support same sex, but BioWare has to introduce new persons for this to take place, otherwise it would be awkward. I just can't picture Garrus getting together with MShep or Tali with FemShep...

I can picture Kaiden/Ashley though..and Miranda...Jacob not so much and Thane, hell no!

It has been considered, and discussed. Your impressions of the squad mates, though, clash with some others. Tali, for example, her body language is very flirtatious with both male and female Shepards and purportedly she had originally been slated as a bi love option, but that was later ditched.

The main issue is, people want same sex romances available and though they certainly have their preferences from the current cast, I think the majority of posters accept that not everyone they like is going to be a potential s/s relationship. But even if X isn't an option I - and many others - might have liked the opportunity to pursue it even if we were let down. As it stands Jack is the only person who will go there, which considering her own background seems rather odd. (at least in how she shoots you down - if she isn't interested in you that is one thing, but at one point she talks about having relations with women, then later says she doesn't play that game)

Tali also brings up with Shepard, regardless of gender, a willingness to pursue the most intimate act in her culture. That by itself is the strongest evidence in either direction contained in the game itself. And no, "she's not a FemShep LI" isn't evidence of her being purely straight any more than the fact Zaeed isn't an LI for any Shepard means he's asexual or suffered...'battle damage'.

Whatever happens with ME3, I just hope they treat the subject with the same respect and brevity afforded the heterosexual relationships in game. I'd hate to have fought this hard for S/S romances only to get Kelly v 2.0

The only reason Tali shares the same body language with both female and male Shepards is because the devs were too lazy to change it after concluding that Tali's character wouldn't pursue a relationship with the same sex. That's why, although she was intended as possible LI for femshep, she did not make it, because BioWare decided it's not in her character.
Jack, on the other hand, should've been a LI for both genders, she said she had sex with men and women. there's no reason for her not to pursue this preference.
It's a bit more complicated than you guys think, while you wouldn't mind these squadmates being bisexual or homosexual, others would. That's why i believe they should make new ones.

If heterosexuality was actually a part of Tali's personality, she would've turned FemShep down, or called them Just Friends. Not invite her to share suits while swaying her hips.

At this point, the homosexuality "issue" has been danced around and simply avoided for convenience. Even being turned down would be considered an improvement to the current system of "Beep boop. No more talkie."

It is quite funny really, how closed minded some people are. It really does show that some people can't see that people are different. Me, I am not gay or bi in anyway, shape or form, but I do not go around shouting hate and showing how uncomftable you are.

The truth in the matter is this, the more you honestly go "It make me uncomftable!" "It makes me feel sick!" "This is horrible your all horrible" and the likes, it just shows how uncertain you are on your sexuality.

I support this thread! These options should of been put in! Let everyone play the game how they want to.
