Wow, this topic simply wont go away. Even the Project lead and Bioware bigwigs have stated more than once that there will be no M/M LI's in Mass Effect. Why? Shepard isnt gay, end of story. You didnt create him, Bioware did, they gave a few options to give him some background, but nothing on his personality or sexuality, religious beleifs , political views. You are playing a part much like a play or a movie. If someone handed you a script they wrote and gave you the part of a straight male, you wouldnt ask him to rewrite it so there could possibly be a gay or bi love story.

Bioware will release new games with hot male on male action but this story is already written. Besides by going back and changing it now, at the climaxe of the trilogy, would be costly and to be honest, dumb. No continuity. Repect the narrative provided you and stop asking for special treatment.

I didn't mean to imply that someone [Bioware] was intentionally trying to be offensive. I just don't like the idea that "everyone" is BI in an RPG. I prefer the idea that each character has a fixed set of do's & don't as that seems to better match reality.

Forcing everyone to be BI [IMHO] unintentionally sends the wrong message.

I made a thread about this. Check it out if you haven't already (it's locked now though).

I love how people are trying to stifle the discourse.
Regardless of the very inconsistent statements given, there is ample opportunity for discussion here.
So, if you don't feel inclined to contribute in a meaningful way (quoting others posts, adding nothing but a thoroughly arbitrary single word), then I can't exactly see why you'd even bother to post.
You're only bumping the thread, reminding us that the issue is still alive and kicking.
But hey, thanks for that!

On the subject of "Shepard isn't gay", we know that is an erroneous, sweeping statement at best.
Why?
Female Shepard is free to pursue homosexual relationships.
Game. Set. Match.
Either the statements you're referring to are willfully ignorant, or we have a case of savage hypocricy on our hands.
You take your pick. I haven't settled for either yet myself.

Despite the direction this thread has taken, I think the original intent was simply to ask for fanservice - no different than requesting a Garrus romance or a Tali romance. There is nothing wrong with that. It just got dragged off into some strange affirmative action land.

As far as Shepard's canon sexual preferences, my Shepard is would never lick a poisonous hard-shelled bird man but they introduced that very odd behaviour to Shepard in ME2.  I don't think Shepard's sexual preferences are defined - so asking for fanservice is quite legit in my books. Expecting it and crying if you don't get it would be too much.

OT:  Is it "gay" if you cross species lines [I.E. FemShep going Asari]??   Ok ok that doesn't merit a response :)

Heh, it's certainly been brought up before. And while, as you say, that whole discussion has been pretty widely accepted as a non-discussion (Asari are clearly female) it raises the point of how thoroughly absurd it is that Shepard would be allowed to have the hots for other species, but not the same sex.
I tell you. Absurd.

But let's say we discount the Asari; we'd still have Kelly.
So yeah, even those who still struggle to classify the Asari as non-gendered fall flat on their faces.

You can interpret it all you want , but I am just repeating what Bioware has already stated.
I was reffering to the Male Shepard.

Female Shepard is free to pursue homosexual relationships.
Game. Set. Match

Um sorta, and No, Im still correct since Im talking about MALEShep.
We all know that Liara isnt a girl, she just looks like one, Bioware has also explained that. She comes from a mono- gendered species.

Kelly is the only lesbian thing in the game.  That is a problem and shows a double standard but , it sells, just like making all Asari hot blue girls.

Either the statements you're referring to are willfully ignorant, or we have a case of savage hypocricy on our hands.

Its the latter, any moron can see that.  Hot girls sell games, period.

I see your point LG and certainly wouldn't argue. I do find it odd people will argue on one side or the other about same sex LIs but they don't mind sleeping with [potentially] Coyote Ugly aliens.

In the codex, in the game, it states Asari are FEMALE. Mono genedered would means one gender, not non existing gender. No two ways about it, Female Shepard can be gay.

Also, Shepard doesn't have a predetermined anything in his character outside of the backstory you choose. If I'm wrong, please show me where its listed otherwise.

And you believe that's a fair enough reason for people not to want / ask Bioware not to include an option so my Shepard doesn't die a lonely old man?

Bisexuals exist in reality...I think.  Aw, man, maybe they don't!   Like elves...

No one is forced to be bisexual (in DA2...if you want to talk about that game)...they were written as bisexual.

MaleHawke doesn't have to force himself on Anders.  FemHawke doesn't have to force herself on Isabela (though she might like that).

LOL ...

In ME1 I didn't read the codex entries close enough and I though she [Tali] was some humanoid bug thing.  I still wouldn't be too surprised if she was bugly though :)

Then again I'd rather have the bugly girl that would happily walk through hell with me than a normal girl that would run away screaming at that thought :)

Fenris is done better, though. Although have 2 out of 3 dialogue options being romantic is excessive. Bioware, stop trying to convince me to stick my tongue in his mouth!

He doesnt have to be lonely , you chose to go that route.  There are 4 options for Romance for Male Shepard.  Choose one or none.  He doesnt share your sexual life, he isnt you. He is a Straight male,  her perfers tacos to hot dogs.  What is so hard to understand about this?

Likewise he isn't you, so let's make the game even less choice orientated and force him to be a paragon for every option. If you want the option of punching a reporter in the face, it's no longer there because he isn't you right? That's how this works?

Never been an issue for me. Anders did not hit on my Female Hawke and so far nothing with the Male Hawke. Of course I don't encourage him with warm fuzzy sensitive dialogue choices.

The only thing he did was ask FemHawke if she was sure that being "with" Merryl was a good idea. FemHawke responded with something like "yes she loves me" and Merryl, who happened to be there got pissed and told him off. Anders never got around to expressing his alterior motives if there were any.

Nothing else has happened.

Of course now you go overboard.  Bioware determines what is choosable and what isnt. Its thier narrative.

its pointless to discuss it any further with you, youll never get it through your noodle.
