I didn't click a heart. If you don't click a heart, he actually gets mad at you and you get +10 rivalry.

Zev is the same way, but you can just avoid that dialogue path. Maybe you can with Anders too. Next playthrough, I'll just be a dick to him right from the start.

And you believe that's a fair enough reason for people not to want / ask Bioware not to include an option so my Shepard doesn't die a lonely old man?

He doesnt have to be lonely , you chose to go that route.  There are 4 options for Romance for Male Shepard.  Choose one or none.  He doesnt share your sexual life, he isnt you. He is a Straight male,  her perfers tacos to hot dogs.  What is so hard to understand about this?

Likewise he isn't you, so let's make the game even less choice orientated and force him to be a paragon for every option. If you want the option of punching a reporter in the face, it's no longer there because he isn't you right? That's how this works?

Of course now you go overboard.  Bioware determines what is choosable and what isnt. Its thier narrative.

its pointless to discuss it any further with you, youll never get it through your noodle.

Hence why we ask Bioware through this thread to include that option, not demand or any such nonsense. I've bought Mass Effect and 2 copies of Mass Effect 2 with all it's DLC for both PC and Xbox 360, I'm an avid fan of BioWare and pretty much everything they do, that doesn't mean I can't be disappointed at Mass Effects route of lolgirlongirlishawt. I would *like* that option for m/m, if it isn't there, your right. I will of chosen for him to die a lonely old man or at least meet the man of his dreams after the games content has been played out... Unless of course he dies in ME 3 in which case he will of died lonely regardless.

As I say though, all of that doesn't stop us from asking BioWare for said option. Nor will you saying "lol it'll never happen because they said so a year ago".

I'm aware there's this issue with Anders flirting with a male Hawke without the prompt, but I managed to not get it. I mean, I never had to be a dick to him to get him to stop. Nobody can really tell me exactly how they got to the point where Anders flirts with them, and I equally don't have a guide that tells you how you can avoid it altogether.

Also, I think the whole point of the friendship/rivalry system was to get people away from the concept of disapproval. +10 rivalry isn't bad. And if you support the cause of mages, it's really easy to correct.

I suppose I could then bring up the time Merrill came Hawke's Estate and basically gave me no choice but to either sleep with her or cruelly send her away. So it happens with Anders, it happens with Merrill, and it's obviously a system the writers still need to work on.

He should have just shrugged and said 'we didn't want to'.

Pretty much. There's nothing in the game, as far as the story, that explains Shepard's personality. It was Simply Bioware saying they weren't gonna. However, it was originally intended by the dev team. as evidenced here...

So it was stripped from the final product, but it seems like there's more evidence for a Shepard with an interchangeable sexuality as opposed to a straight one.

The reason no one can tell you is because they're embellishing on the issue cuz they simply don't like it. I played as Male Hawke, and didn't flirt nor had to ****** off Anders to get him to full friendship.

Hmm .. I'm not sure if you are trolling by deliberately misinterpreting what I'm trying to say.  In the event you aren't let me make it clear. It makes sense for some characters to be straight-only,  it makes sense for some [other]characters to be gay-only, it makes sense for yet other characters to be BI.

It does not make sense for EVERYONE to be BI.

Therefore I think it's more logical for some LIs to be straight, some gay, and some BI.  Having everyone be BI is not realistic and would likely be insulting to folks that believe you are born with your orientation as opposed to it just being another choice.

Alamar2078 wrote...
Forcing everyone to be BI [IMHO] unintentionally sends the wrong message.
No one is forced to be bisexual (in DA2...if you want to talk about that game)...they were written as bisexual.

MaleHawke doesn't have to force himself on Anders.  FemHawke doesn't have to force herself on Isabela (though she might like that).

****************************

I'm not talking about the main character ... I'm talking about the LIs being BI.   Please try not to misinterpret what I'm talking about.

Note:  I think it's fine to see a "flirt" dialog with my main character.  I can choose to persue it or not.

****************************

In terms of DA2 I certainly see some characters [Isabella] being an any-port-in-a-storm kind of girl so it's appropriate for her to be BI.  I don't have a problem if Anders wants to play for both teams.   I would think it's wrong to have 100% of LIs BI because that's not realistic and can be offensive if you're the sort to be offended by that sort of thing.

And you didn't immediately send your game back for a refund? With a strongly worded missive to BioWare about Gay Homosexuals in your game? You realize that by continuing to play the game, you are tacitly accepting the fact that it's okay for a dude to flirt with 'you'. I dunno, people might get the wrong impression about you over this...

It's impossible to romance Fen without clicking a heart.

I screwed up his romance a few times by not doing so.

You have to drag him kicking and screaming to romance Hawke.

Fen will never hit on you again unless you take his compliment in a flirty manner.

Hawke flirts first.

Fenris is just a bit awkward about the way he says it. If you just move the conversation along with a"Happy to help." he nods and continues the conversation. If you act agressive he is a little bewildered that you took it that way.

Same with Anders. Heck the hearts are what initate the sex/kiss scenes.

So sorry bud but your a bald face liar.

Oh, it didn't tick me off that badly. I just shudder to have a party of characters being in my face like that. It's bad enough that I have to be careful with the female characters; having everyone bi means they've just doubled the number of characters I feel uncomfortable around.

You're right, I shouldn't spar with the kiddies, it's beneath me. If it were up to me, all boys between the ages of 13-21 would be sent to military school. Preferably one with no Internet connection.

I also chose no hearts with Merrill, was in a relationship with another character, and she still showed up at my house. Only instead of simply accepting the flirtation, my choice was to stomp on her heart or sleep with her. I think my case of unwanted romantic interest trumps what I've heard happened with Anders. But I take it as a glitch of development.

ETA: Also, if you got accosted by Fenris without ever clicking a heart icon, you need to let some of the pro-Fenris romance people know how you got it done, 'cause that boy does not want to be romanced easily.

So you want a DLC made and catered just for gay males?  I doubt that would be cost effective for Bioware.

Now make a full on nude DLC for the existing sex scenes and they would make 4 billion by end of the week.  And that is the Ugly Truth.

Im fine with S/S LIs in Dragon Age as it has always had them and Hawke isnt Shepard.

I just think the game is bugged with some playthroughs and the LI trigger even if you dont want them too.

And I consider being called a Liar  an insult and a personal attack, moderator, please curb this. I havent attacked anyone here.

The participants of the Fight for the Love thread had always taken pride in the face that they leave the discussion open to both sides of the argument. Demonstrate respect to everyone, even if their viewpoints contradicts your own. This is true for any topic of discussion on these forums. If you are unable to approach people with respect, you will find yourself unable to participate in the discussion.

You mean, it doesn't make sense for all LI's to be bi, right?  Because, even in DA2, not everyone was bisexual (Aveline, Carver, Sebastian...).  I'm not even talking about 'choice' or anything here.

One point that has been brought up is that b/c taboos against homosexuality do not exist in Thedas (as they do in our culture) it is more likely that people in this fictional culture will be comfortable with any homosexual attraction, and won't repress and hide it.  No one has really refuted this as far as I know.
