You mean people didn't think she was put in to specifically cater to the girl gamers really? Why do you think a girl option was added to fable? Because all the men got depressed they couldn't be women? No it was because the girls were angry they couldn't be girls. I'm surprised people didn't auto know this sense ME if the main character isn't female and not the main face of the brand she's an add in for potential women gamers or curious men.

No idea about Fable, but a huge part (majority?) of the male Elder Scrolls community plays girls (especially scantily clad girls). Same thing for all MMOs. Some men like to watch a shapely behind through their 50+ hours of gaming.

I thought the voice actor gave me a moar emotional performance. Honest! D;

Besides, if Bioware can throw in an "option for women", how come we're still stomping our feet for an "option for gay men"?
I mean, the last time I checked, women weren't heterosexual men, who're often referred to as the main man when it comes to who you should market your game to. All that jazz.

It's the same double standard on why women can't runaround shirtless like a man does in public for a guy its sexy for a girl she's a **** it's just how that is. Now I do remember reading an article that bought up the idea in cultures around the world as to why they tolerate girls kissing but not guys in short most polled on the subject think girls kissing = sexy guys kissing = not.

Bah. Does anyone know where the quote about the m/m romances being taken out due to time constraints is? I had it bookmarked on my old computer but that's gone. :/

Here it is. He wasn't a developer at the time of ME1, apparently, though you'd assume he knows what he's doing.

There might be more sources out there, but this is the one I remember.

While I dislike the fact that ME censored homosexual content, I think by ME3 it would detract from the characters and plot--unless, of course, they only allow such options in newly introduced characters. Because frankly, suddenly finding out that characters we've seen in two games are bisexual would kind of cheapen the characters and narrative.

If they had included it in ME2, it would have worked just fine. Now, I'm not so sure...

:D:happy::lol:=]:)

I just found the thread in the other forum about this, it seems to have got a lot of attention (20+ pages) just in the past day. Makes me think putting keywords in the thread title tends to bring a lot of posters.

Well at least it's actual discussion and not constant trolling. :lol:

I'd say no just to the chance of that kind of exposure to a possible minor. Parents are ignorant as it is to buy these games for kids too young when Ratings say otherwise. BioWare shouldn't just to avoid bad publicity they'll receive from the parents who feel stupid for buying the game. And vent their pain through protests.  <----- Lol it could happen.^_^

You would be opposed to like... one or two characters with such options? I'm not asking for the entire cast to rabidly hit on you.

Then that's the parents fault for buying a 15+ game for someone who isn't 15+. That's not BioWare's fault or anyone elses, it's bad parenting and can't be used as an excuse.

I'm sure BioWare is really aware of that happening and would scapegoat using the Rating as a point in defense. Which is true, but of a better mind shouldn't indulg in something they know will happen and might not be good for the story.

So wait...

You think parents would be fine with violence, shooting, genocide, torture, mature themes, heterosexual sexual content, scary bug-like creatures, sentient machines, xenophobia and racism... and they'd freak out because of a gay or lesbian romance?

And why wouldn't it be good for the story? You don't have to play as a gay Shepard, it's your personal choice. And the ratings aren't a scape goat, they are there for a reason. It comes down that old argument of, well you don't mind yourself/your kid going around shooting the place up, killing lots and lots of people, but a bit of homosexuality that you can choose to/not to pursue... Well that is damned well out of order.

Really? You actually know this? You've been to 2 seperate futures, one where Mass Effect 3 has a homosexual romance available and one where there is no homosexual romance available? That's impressive, because frankly, if the option is put in there I highly doubt most people who already enjoy the series / newcomer's to the series WILL ACTUALLY CARE.

Well then it's a good thing that their opinons don't count.
