Oh, I apologise. Avatar's don't denote much nowadays so I fell into the trap of gamer prejudice and assumed you were male. My fault.

@Saeran

I think you are assuming that I think that Kaidan being originally bi in ME1 should have been cut of the game.

So you can see Maleshep as a ******? Because I can not. He's a man's ,man. That's how Anders started out and look what happen to him.

MaleShep is one hell of a man's man, I'll give you that.

Oh, and for your information, Anders was a man's man too, even back then.

I do enjoy being called cute sometimes, though, straight as an arrow though I may be.

I wasn't assuming that at all. It just seems, to me, a double standard to say the "Tali romance is fine" for ME 2 although she makes no gesture towards romance in ME 1 although she may of originally been planned to have a romance in ME 1. But then say Kaidan would be "retconning" although he was originally planned to be bisexual in ME 1, and we barely see him in ME 2.

The avatar tells me nothing, potential dude or dudette. All sorts of people -- including 'men's men' -- often use female avatars on websites for various reasons. In my case, I did it because I felt like this angle of this particular character was the best out of a set of extremely limited options... but with a name like 'Jeff', I'd hope you think me male.

I see what you're saying.

Seeing that original Kaidan seen depresses me so much. Why the hell did they not just leave it in.

My Shepard didn't romance anyone in ME1 and in ME2 the Tali romancing was very much an unintentional side effect of me as a player developing unexpectedly strong thoughts on the character during her loyalty mission. Since I'm playing Shepard as much through my mind as possible during first runs, it sort of... happened.

That's why I don't mind Tali having feelings for Shepard 'all of a sudden' in ME2, although generally I do agree with your points and all that. It's just that for me, it felt unexpected but in a cool way and I responded quite positively to the whole thing.

I'm not saying the Tali romance was bad / a bad idea. It wasn't, it was a fantastic addition. Just like I think the Garrus one was. However, it seems very 1 rule for 1, another rule for another is going on.

I'd better not post this, then...

The point isn't to shove the content down people's throats, but just to show that originally it was meant to be in the game. Lines of dialogue were recorded.

I'm struggling to see how you could be disgusted with optional content. If you never romance a male LI with a male Shepard, your Shepard isn't gay. Your Shepard isn't anything much, except for a gender and a voice and whichever random details you choose to fill in through the course of the series. A blank canvas, so to speak.

It's not really a mod. It's just a restoration of files already on the Mass Effect disc.
Yes, embedded in the data files are romance files for MaleShep/Kaidan and FemShep/Ashley respectively.

As for Anders, it's not a mod, and I'll concede that it's more of a playful tease than anything else.
But tell me with a straight face that he wasn't flirting with Nathaniel there, even a little.

And here is the point. You are CHOOSING to watch those videos. No one has forced you. You have clicked on them yourself not through someone else sitting you in front of it and forcing you to watch it.

It does rather tend to undermine the argument from consistency, that characters can't change between games.

That being said, I think the consistency issue is only valid if you assume Shepard or the possible LIs in ME3 have clearly defined sexualities in the first two games in any case; I don't think that's true at all.

Oh no not this time. I did that with DA2 at look what happen with that. BioWare needs to see both sides of this argument.I won't let ME3 be ****** crazy like DA2.Posted Image

But we can compromise. We get our elusive bisexual male option and heterosexuals gets everyone else (because we all know asari + Kelly don't count). The world will end before any ME game goes "****** crazy".

@ElitePinecone

Why do people need to clearly define their sexuality?

So, I'm a straight guy that tells a girl that I like her in a romantic way, but I never say whether I'm straight or not, does that mean that I'm also possibly gay because I never stated that?

I'm not sure what you're asking, but let me clarify:

Very few of the characters in the series, least of all Shepard, ever state categorically that "yes, I'm into guys/girls/gerbils/aliens with weird body parts". The option to be romantically involved with certain characters doesn't automatically define a character's sexuality, most obviously if the player never becomes involved in any of them.

It is possible for female Shepard (as far as I know) to tell Liara that she's only interested in males.

Ironically, it's also possible for a male Shepard who is romancing Kaidan using the cut dialogue to say the same thing (that he's only interested in men, see the link I posted previously).

But if characters don't take that option and don't respond positively to any of the romances on offer, it becomes difficult if not impossible to assign them a sexuality, even if you wanted to.

Mod = modification. The game was modified to use the files. Where the files came from is irrelevant.
