@ElitePinecone Bioware doesn't have a "friendship path" in their romances. What if I just want to be friends? I can't, as rejecting them pretty much ends everything (the relationship, that is), which then ruins my characters.
True. But that's a failure of content in general. It applies equally to the heterosexual romances as well as any hypothetical s/s ones. Garrus had what, three conversations in ME2 if you didn't romance him? Less?
ME3 is expected to tie up a lot of the characterisation of previous games, and even players who 'rejected' Liara were treated to a compelling 'friendship' arc in Lair of the Shadow Broker.
If this type of storytelling or something similar were available in ME3, even for characters whose romances you rejected (hypothetically assuming they exist), would you still have a problem with them becoming s/s options?
I should also point out that in my view, the odds of Garrus ever becoming a romance option are... infinitesimally small. I think it's a fair bet that the character so many see as a 'bro' (for some reason it's only ever Garrus? I don't know why...) won't become an s/s option in ME3/

@ElitePinecone If Bioware was good at "friendship paths" (meaning they have implemented them and they worked before, not just one time that I'm not so sure about), I wouldn't be so strongly against it.

From: The rest of this board.
Except MrGone. I like you. You seem to use your logic parts mostly.

Now, if you're talking about your own personal headcanon, that's another matter. But you shouldn't go pushing your own personal Shepard story on other people's games.
ETA: And in most cases you have to pursue the romance in the first place. So there's no real problem there either.

You're right, when I quoted and named you specifically and called you a bigot was totally out of line. Hold on, I'll edit that previous post.... That's weird, I didn't mention you at all, but the fact that you thought it was directed at you speaks volumes.

@centauri2002 The same can be said for you as well, though.
No, it can't, because I'm not pushing my Shepard's story on anyone else. Point out where I did.
ETA: It'd be nice if you addressed the point I was making as well.

Well I was trying to, but I forgot that this thread was Serious Business.

Making Tali romanceable was a terrible idea because of that. Don't you agree, Ramírez?

Then who were you insulting? Just because you didn't name names doesn't mean you weren't making inflamatory remarks.
I really think you should look up the definition of bigotry. Because I don't see many posts that qualify (Invinciblehero or whatever may have made some bigoted remarks though...not sure and don't care to read back through them).

And regarding your point, that depends on your perception on whether it is a strong bond or not.

It's not about perspective really. Dialogue in-game doesn't change after the fact whether you reject romantic interest or not so what's the problem with adding it?

If you don't care, then why ask? If you must know, it was directed to invincible. However, if someone else see's it and feels they're being attacked, that says more than anyone finger pointing.

Because you're a fan who's already been serviced?Ramirez Wolfen wrote...
@Nyoka
Like I said before what happened in ME2 with Tali and Garrus =/= do it again in ME3 with Tali, Garrus, Kaidan, Ashley, Miranda, and/or Jacob.
Mass Effect has enough fan service. Do I think of the Tali and Garrus romance as fan service? To be honest, I don't know and I don't care.

No, because it already happened so what are we going to do about it now?
@android654 If it was aimed at someone else (I interpreted it as an insult directed at me, as I was the only "opposition" posting at the time of your comment), you should make that clear so there isn't a misunderstanding.

Embrace the opportunity to allow other players to possibly get something they would like in the game, just as you were able to romance Tali in ME2.Ramirez Wolfen wrote...

I don't mind having new characters being gay or bi. That way, everyone gets what they want. Isn't that a good compromise?

Unless you thought you wrote something bigoted, why even think it was directed towards you? I get you were around a few minutes ago, whatever, but if it bugs you there's a reason for it and it's not me.

I think it is, definitely. It's at least something that most reasonable people can agree is fair. It also avoids all the messy questions of former characters. Only the "eww, gays" crowd would seem to have a problem with it, as far as I can see.

I tried pointing this out - AGES AGO.
But the think I realized on this thread is that the people advocating their stance are blind to logic. They seem to want a VERY specific thing and it seems slightly different for each of them.
Trying to bring any sort of logic here is like trying to bring an Ice cube to a guy living in the middle of a volcano, it's going to be nearly impossible, it's probably not worth the effort and in all liklihood you're going to get burned by the flames.
