Someone should really close this thread.

The pro-same sex romance party is too rabid.

BioWare should just add one gay romance option for each gender and be done with it. It's not what these people want, but what is? They're irrational; unreasonable.

The most you can do is throw them a bone just for the sake of conscience.

Don't care.

And I know exactly what those words mean, and they describe you perfectly.

Also, don't address me anymore, you hypocritical turd. You censored me for calling you douche, yet you called that other person the same.

Also, it's because of your fits that this thread is so horrible. You antagonize everybody who speaks up here, and your attitude is absolutery insufferable.

@Those two who addressed me

Really? Because I once proposed something even more generous than that on this vey thread, and got flaming in response.

Stop being an hypocrite. You know what you're defending, and it's nothing as simple as that.

A lot of people here want their favorite characters to become bi all of a sudden, or they want everybody to be bi.

Do refresh us then. Last I remembered it involved DLC, and we opposed it for good reason. I'm simply defending the choice to have a romace option, not options, that wasn't offered before.

@lolwut: So you're upset you got flamed way back yonder in this thread. Fine, but not everyone here now took part in that, and they certainly don't all have the view you're speaking of.

As I said, I'm happy with the game as it is because I get what I want. But I also support the addition of a bisexual or gay character for MaleShep players. That's it.

If you think I'm going to just look the other way while you come in here and stamp your foot like a spoiled child, you've got another 'think' coming, kitten. I may be insufferable, but only to those who have a problem with things like, say, basic logic, basic math, common sense, reasoning ability, etc. All too often people come tramping through here slinging around asterisks like shuriken and calling this person or that person a 'turd' or somesuch, and I just can't sit back and let such pups go unthumped.

So now that you've let the world know how you feel about Teh Gayz, why don't you see yourself to the nearest thread exit?

Thanks for proving me right, rabid, irrational, unreasonable fanbot of gay romance.

I said earlier that BioWare should just throw in one gay romance to shut up the likes of you, and now you say that I'm on that Ramirez fellow's side and that I oppose gay romance in Mass Effect.

So, basically, unless I come into this thread and say that I want Garrus, Thane, Miranda and cia. to be bisexual, I'm a troll?

Laughable.

It's one of many possible solutions. It gets thrown around a lot because it is, in many ways, the best and most realistic solution because it's so easy to implement. DA2 proves that it works, and it minimizes the resource cost. Furthermore, it conceivably leaves all players satisfied.

I really think there's no downside to it. It might hurt continuity for some players, but I think (and I feel that this was the developer intent in the beginning) that characters are not the same from playthrough to playthrough. So there's nothing wrong for say, Kaidan, to be gay in one game, straight in another, bi in both, or dust in the Virmire wind.

@rynluna Here is the definition of trolling from wikipedia:

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

Where am I doing any of this?

You're jumping to all sorts of odd conclusions. Must you really be so aggressive and insulting in the way you speak to people? And why come to this thread at all? If you don't like what you see, don't read it. It's not like this discussion is going to have any major effects on your game anyway.

Just to clarify, I think SS options are good, however I don't really like having the exact same dialouge for both genders.

Even in the future, I'm sure homosexuality is still slightly taboo. I'd like there to be some different dialouge for different genders.

Finally, I don't think every character should be bi/gay, however Ashley, Kaidan and Tali were all originally meant to be bi. I'm not sure how I'd feel if Bioware did a 360 and made them Bi in ME3, but I agree it's ridiculous for Talimancers to complain about it "retconning their romance."

That said, DA: A Anders was straight, and in DA2 he is not only bi, he also openly talks about his relations with a man (as far as I know, he doesn't do this for femhawkes). This kind of dialog is good as it makes the individual romance more interesting. Also, I didn't feel Anders being bi was a real retcon, so I think it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to make former straight characters Bi, but I'm sceptical as to how the romance would go seeing as much of the development was in the first (and to an extent) second game. It'd be like starting a relationship with Liara in LoTSB.

I think it'd be most believeable to have the Alien LI's as bi. You're already not from the same species, what does gender matter?

Finally, I would just like to see less empahsis on romance generally. It's getting to the point where it's starting to detract from character development outside romance.(coughcallibrationscough) It's nice for the option to be there, but generally I think bioware should tone down the whole romances.

(to clarify, I am a Tali fan, but I didn't romance her. Hence, I am not a Talimancer)

You're just in it for the fanservice.

It's amazing how Mass Effect's universe, gameplay and story have apparently taken a backseat to the romance.

It was a mistake from BioWare to have implemented this option in the first place. If Shepard was just a soldier fighting across the galaxy, crap like this topic would never have happened.

"Tali was already made romancable but other's should be" that entire post is imflamatory because it creates a doubel standard for your favorite character that other character's cannot have.it's disrespectful to other characters fanbases as well as those characters. Taht adn you say it will ruin games when you don't know how other's think of the games themselves and you want to control other people's experiences.it disrupts the normal on-topic discussion.Posted Image

Well, pity that player romances have always been a thing Bioware has been known for since...they've worked on RPGs, which is ever.

Thanks for proving that you are a moron. What does that have do do with anything I said?

"Discussing existing character romances"? I don't see it. What I see is "discussing the possibility of turning existing love interests bisexual".

And yes, that is more reasonable, because retconing a character only to suit the needs of leecherous yaoi/yuri fanbots is ridiculous. And don't even start with "oh, but look what hey did to Tali and Garrus", because that's trying to use one mistake to justify another one.

Ramirez Wolfen is someone who posts the same BS over and over without giving concrete answers and telling same sex romance supporters that they should deal with not having any existing romance options available to them in ME3.  His idiotic hypocrisy is causing many people to continually ask him for clear answers but he gives none.  Considering your source is coming from Wikipedia and written by people like you and me, my definiton will work just as fine too.

Romance in games is fan service. They rarely ever impact the plot in any important way. But I wouldn't say everything has taken a back seat to it. The emphasis is still on the gameplay and the main plot. The romances still take up very little time in the game.

And you better believe this kind of topic would still surface. People ship pairings all the time, even if there's no canonical reason for it. If there were no romances in the game, people would still discuss their desire for them.

Mass Effect's story includes the romances.Like it or not , they are a big part of Bioware's games at this point. They've grown in detail and complexity from KoTOR and and Jade Empire through Mass Effect and by DA2, they are interwoven in the narrative so well that without them, the story would be seriously lacking. If Bioware ever makes an RPG without any romances, the outcry would be ridiculous.

I have to agree. Romance was handled well in ME1. Options for most sexualities (excluding straight males, which was a shame for those gamers) that didn't hinder development with characters if said romance was not persued. You could also learn most of a characters backstory without romancing them. ME2 had too many romances and too much focus on them.

Actually, your stance on the same sex question isn't the issue at all. You basically came in here, insulted the rest of us, and have continued to act like an angry child. Your purpose here is basically to say to the world that we're all a bunch of meanie head poopy pants. There is no other point to your posts. You're not discussing same sex options except tangentially, as an accessory to your 'you all suck' posts. Well, we're not insensate, we can totally tell that's what you're doing. So, are you done?
