So guys, which of the already existing characters do you think could be believably written in the third game as an S/S romance?
I think Chris Priestly is seriously and politley suggesting drop the topic now.

Ashira maybe you should take the hint and drop it. Or not I rather this thread closed anyhow.

I think the Virmire survivors are the best bets. But TBH the only ones I personally can't see it working for are Jacob, Thane and Garrus but I am very biased here.
ETA: It was appropriate and on topic so I'm not editing out my response!

Actually, bringing the topic around to game-related stuff is what I think is called for here. Rather than discussing the topic as it relates to real-world matters, we should focus on how it affects the games.
This.

Agreed. Of those three, Jacob strikes me as the least likely, but I'm not entirely sure why that is. Kaidan, at least, should be bi in ME3*. Making both of them bi bleeds them together even further, something I don't think the characters need since they're basically interchangable in ME2 as it is.
*If no new options are introduced.

I think so too, Ashira.
I was really worried then. I feel confused
*sigh*
The VS I can see working too, and for some reason Kasumi. Did anyone else figure her as bi? I might just be a closet Kasumi-Fangirl though...
Though could be fun.
FemShep: *looking over files in her cabin, worrying, fretting and such* *hears somethind de-cloak and looks over her shoulder*
Kasumi: Hi Shep. *smirks*
FemShep: GAH! *falls off chair*

This amused me far more than it should've.
And now I is sad.
But yeah I can't see Jacob as bi either. Granted I'm not saying he's not I just don't see it...then again FemShep has to practically sexually harass him for him to start a relationship...but...yeah still not seeing it.

So, basically, do we have a list of all the characters originally written as such? I only know of Kaidan and Ashley for certain. Any of the ME-2 characters? O_o

Oh, it's fine with me. I hope they do find ways to set the two apart in ME3, as I think both characters are rich enough to warrant being truly separate. And if one (or both) of them turn out to be bi, I hope it's not just handwaved. There's potential there for, shall we say, an insurrection of repressed emotion and attraction.

I'd personally prefer an all-bi crew, but I understand why some people might disagree with me. I'd also be squealing with glee if the characters that were originally written as available to both genders wouldn't be cut out of ME-3.

I'm pretty sure Thane was planned to be as such. Something about a swedish voice actor noting how there were lines for a romance with MaleShep.
I could be wrong though, if someone would love to dig that up?

The thing is the voice actors are paid by project, not by number of lines recorded. They pretty much record every possible combination of dialogue and then the developers selectively decide what goes into the final product, in accordance with a number of pre-established facts.AshiraShepard wrote...
Wait, they made LotSB after the actual game was out and Miranda wasn't an option for FemShep...why would they...I mean just...

It's like everything was designed to be the way we wanted it, except it just, uhm, isn't. >_>
I'm not overly hopeful for ME-3, but yes, the release date being pushed back's something to consider. I guess an official statement is too much to hope for.
Edit for clarity.

Anyway, back on topic. This is a pretty tough issue for me, not in the way that I have a problem with bi or gay relationships, more that its harder to see a relationship evolve out of a military life. If any of you have tried it you know what I mean.
So many times I see videogame relationships evolve out of thin air without any context. No meaningful looks in the middle of a firefight, no flirting banter, etc, etc.
Like a lot of people I've had a relationship or two catch me by surprise. Once a girl I hadn't even said two words to for a year started randomly texting me hot shots and a couple days later we were together... so it DOES happen... its just that I want a little more from an involving story that is supposed to be MY life on steroids more or less (thats what most of us want out of RPGs, no?).
So as long as there is adequate motivation and context in the story, I'm all for it.
TL;DR
As long as I don't suddenly see a heartshaped icon in dialogue out of nowhere I'm square
