As the great comedians say tragedy + time = comedy

Too soon :crying:

Well, as tragedies go, this isn't exactly the Permian-Triassic Extinction. :D

I think part of our problem is that we're all too mature and reasonable. BioWare knows that they can completely ignore our wishes on this matter, and all we're going to do is look at them disapprovingly as we line up to buy the game anyway. We've already done it for two games, what are we going to do, NOT buy the third installment? The groups that do get what they want around here seem to be the ones who throw epic tantrums when they don't get what they want. Naturally, I do not advocate emulating that model, but let's face it, we're probably too easy to discount as a low-priority group. That's a testament to our character, of course, but it won't be a surprise to me if we're ignored again.

<_<

@Siansonea: Personally I'd rather be mature and ignored than throw a tantrum and attract attention. It's unedifying. After all, if we're arguing that Bioware's games are made for a mature audience and should include content that isn't just made for 15 year olds, it hardly helps to act like a 15 year old.

Just my view. If we're ignored than at least we can say we tried - and changed a few minds.

Ewww!!! Err I mean thanks, but no thanks.  He's going straight into the nearest "Leave a Kaidan, Take a Kaidan" tray

I am so going to the wrong retail establishments. I have yet to encounter one of these trays, because I SO would have taken one. :) I've always been a Kaidan fan, though perhaps not on the level of the really dedicated fans.

Hey, guys. I got a good idea. Let's make Shepard gay in the last game! Why? Because it would make sense story-wise, but it'll make a minority of fans happy (who would buy the game anyway) and make a majority of games upset at screwing with the story.

QFT. Lol ...But as much as male on male is lacking (more like non-existant), I wish there was more female on female at least with another human female that isn't Kelly, and a female non-Asari race...Like Tali...Man if I could put myself to it I'd play a male Shepard just to get with Tali. :P But, Liara will do just fine for now. :)

-No new LIs in ME3

*Stuff*

Couldn't that mean that an old character (Ashley, Kaidan) could be bi? I mean, technically they wouldn't be new LIs, just old LIs who  become available to a wider variety of genders and sexual orientations......

I would have settled for just having the option of Gay Shepard, but I like your idea better. Because not only would I get Gay Shepard, but, as an added bonus, it would upset the majority of gamers, which has been my true goal all along. If they're forced to play their Shepards as Gay Homosexuals, that would just be the most delicious revenge for all the times they've ever come into this and other threads to spout anti-gay nonsense.

This is the best idea ever. You rock. Somebody get this man a rainbow cookie.:wizard:

Yes, certainly.

But the consensus opinion (as far as I can tell) is that new options were always more likely and palatable from a design perspective, in terms of not upsetting fans of the characters or being accused of 'retcon', changing continuity, etc. Not that making the Virmire survivor bi *would* break continuity, but it's an easy argument for any rabid opposition to make.

If, and I stress *if*, the article is accurate and there are no new LIs for Shepard, it's relatively less likely that other s/s options, such as previous characters, would be open to Shepard in ME3. Of course, we're basing this assessment off virtually no information.

The funny thing is, I strongly suspect that the people who most strenuously object to Kaidan 'suddenly' being bisexual are the same people who have save games where he's very much a scorch mark on the planet Virmire. These people just don't want their Manly Man Shepard tainted with the idea that Shepard could ever in an alternate universe ever be with a dude, even if that dude is D-E-D dead. Unless, Manly Man Shepard was a woman, I guess. Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either.

So quick question for you ladies and gentlemen (not bashing you in any way, shape, or form. Believe me when I say that), but it seems like a M/M Shep romance is getting less and less likely with each passing day.

Honestly, I'm a bit surprised this thread has survived this long-- I guess you can't put a limit on human determination, however. But how long are you guys willing to fight this fight? Let's say ME3 comes out and there isn't a M/M romance. Are you done? Are you gonna stay and voice your opinion until a M/M option is available in a future ME product? Or are you just gonna take your ball and go home?

I'm just interested to see how long some of you are willing to take this. I'm gonna go to sleep, but I look forward to the answers.

If there's no male same-sex romance in ME3, I won't buy ME3. I will voice my opinion the only way consumers can voice their opinion: with my wallet.

The only reason I got into the Mass Effect franchise in the first place was because I received it as a gift. But I don't want to spend my own money on a series that constantly implies that heterosexual and lesbian relationships are okay, while homosexual male relationships are not.

So in answers to your question: Yes, if ME3 fails to represent heterosexual and homosexual content equally, I'm done. I will voice my disappoint on this forum and promptly move all of my support to the Dragon Age franchise.

I'm committed to seeing it through. It would seriously be a stupid thing to suddenly add M/M romance into Shepard's story. If it wasn't in ME 1 or ME2, it shouldn't be in ME3. It wouldn't make any sense at all.

Tell you what, Bioware. I bought two copies of ME1 and ME2. One for the PC and one for the 360. If you continue to let Male Shepard be straight like he should be (because two other stories didn't have the option) I will continue buying two copies. You know, you can ignore her money for my money.

Also, Dragon Age is can continue to be a gay fest because I hate mico managing my team. I mean, srsly, the mechanics make me hate that game.

We'll be here as long as we want to discuss the subject, I assume that's okay with you?

And could you possibly be more patronizing? What IS the point of your post. You want to know how easily we'll "give up"? Would that somehow bolster your and others' attitude that including same-sex romance content isn't worthwhile? Because we're not going anywhere. We'll await more announcements, and we'll be adults about it, regardless of what BioWare ultimately does. I wish the same could be said of the anti-gay 'lobby'.
