I've finally got the modding working for ME2 savegames, here's hoping the mShep/Kaidan romance is recognised in ME3 :) By all accounts the Horizon reunion works perfectly...

Edit: If anyone reads this who has modded an ME2 save, does anyone know if the post-Horizon email has the right gender ('man' and not 'woman')? Could be interesting to see if it deliberately accomodates an mShep/Kaidan romance.

Nope he still calls you a chick.

You can say a really odd if meant to be friendship line to Kelly about "I miss him..." and she reacts...as though you're more than friends.

It's a really odd line considering male shepard is supposed to be just friends with Kaidan...really odd sounding. He sounds way to wistful and longing in it.

Hm, really? lol
I personally hate Kaiden as a character, I only saved him in ME1 because he has useful biotic tools while Ashley is just a soldier. All he did was yell at me, and in ME2 he hates me. Oh well. QQ

If Bioware implements this the way the OP says, I have no problems with this. My main gripe with this was my war-buddies starting flirting with me, it would really destroy part of their personality I love so much - however, if they could sidestep this issue, I really dont see why anyone should mind this.

I dont think anyone should hold their breath with this tough, It seems a little late for Bioware to actually care to much for this to happen.

I agree, I don't necessarily have a problem at all with s/s relationships, but it would have made more sense in either the beginning or at the latest ME2.  With ME3 I think the focus is more bringing everything to an end with Shepard, defeating (or not) the Reapers, saving friends or seeing them die, sacrificing worlds or saving them, to me there is no room for anymore beginnings.  Starting up a new relationship out of the blue would seem rushed to me and just thrown in there for the sake of "well here you go" .

Especially when there has been no leaning at all towards this subject it would seem strange that at the end with the universe on the edge of destruction that Shepard would even have time to worry about starting a new relationship, period, which is why I'm glad there may be no new LI all together.

it was brought up in another thrad but does adding a S/S path to say Ashley or Kaidan make them a NEW LI? because bioware did say no NEW LI's or sdoes it just make them a new path?

Doesn't make them a new LI in the total sense of the phrase as they have been LIs from the start, it would more accurate to say: Kaidan and Ashley would have the possibilities of their Romance path expanded.

Well, why not dispense with all the LIs altogether then? After all, if Shepard is 'too busy' saving the universe from the edge of destruction, why would a new relationship be any more of a time-waster than an existing relationship? From my experience relationships eat up MORE time as time goes by, not less. So, Liara, Tali, whoever, should just hit the road so that Sheppie can get down to the business of saving the galaxy. They'll get over it, won't they?

It would be tiresome to go through the purgatory with Mass Effect 3 caused by people who had or would have problems with how things were handled in Dragon Age 2.

That would be more bisexual options and an old character suddenly coming out. But it seems it is unlikely that both or even one of them would happen.

Let alone romances, why aren't gay guys represented in the games at all?

Ladies and gentlemen we may yet have contact and some future hope about a better avenue of discussion for the s/s romance issue. May I direct you to Casey Hudson's twitter

@Maugrimm: @CaseyDHudson If the issue&lack of s/s romance could be addressed clearly it would be greatly appreciated. No matter the end result. Please

@CaseyDHudson: @Maugrimm 140 characters isn't enough to do justice to the subject but plan to discuss the decision-making in a good format at some point.

Mmmkay, that's...noncommittal. Sounds to me like he doesn't want to say "how about no" in so many words. If it was positive, I doubt he'd need more than 140 characters. In my experience you only need more characters when you need to 'spin' a decision.

I'll direct you to my use of the wiggle word may ;)

Still not one hour ago Hudson was aware of and at the very least acknowledged that there was and is still an issue. It's a small victory but I'll take it!

The last time I checked, "We're working on it" is only 19 characters.
And he only mentions the decision-making, without giving any hints to the actual decision or the results.

Blah. Words.

Edit: It's early in the morn'. My grammary is a bit sl-ARGH! I WAS QUOTED WHY GAWD WHAI!?
Re-edit: TWICE!?

Re-re-edit: THRICE!? For crying out loud!

Exactly.

The chance of their being s/s romances in ME is about as high as Shepard and Harbinger decidingto have an orgy with some husks.

It ain't happening.

Yeah, the fact that the 'decision making' is the subject of the response speaks volumes. Sounds like a decision was made that doesn't necessitate a discussion about implementation or story impact.

Oh, Casey Hudson, why must you tug at my heartstrings by making me so very hopeful, and yet so very, very afraid?

I think the eventual(?) comment from Casey Hudson will happen one of three ways:

Option One: A confusing and soul-crushing "Sorry, we're not adding same-sex content, but not because we hate homosexuals, but because we don't have the time/money/interest to make one the eight heterosexual love-interests available to both sexes."

Option Two: A joyous announcement of "yes, we're adding same-sex content, but don't worry, there will still be plenty for the straight male gamer to enjoy."

Option Three: No announcement at all, until well after ME3 is launched. We gamers discover that there is no same-sex content, and the cries of "WHY, CASEY HUDSON, WHY" causes him to say an amended version of Option One: "Sorry, but we didn't add same-sex content, not because we hate homosexuals, but because we didn't have the time/money/interest to make one the eight heterosexual love-interests available to both sexes."

Give or take a couple comments about Shepard's "pre-determinded" character and the "open to interpretation" gender of the Asari, of course.

Pitchforks are reeeeally heavy, and not really on-trend right now either. The stylish angry-mob-NPC-about-town now carries old-school scythes. Still has the classic appeal of antiquated farm equipment, with the panache of classic Death iconography. Torches are still acceptable, though if you're really going for a current look, you'll opt for a bullseye latern instead.

....huh? Could you clarify that one for me, please? Should I be extremely hopeful, or face-down in the gutter with a bottle of scotch?

Of option 4 "We figured we'd just give the asari penises, so they'd count as s/s for both male and female Shepards." Heck, if they can take Cerberus from Bad Guy to Employer to Bad Guy from game to game, adding some tackle to the blue babes doesn't seem to be too big a stretch.

I would say "too early to tell, but have some scotch handy just in case". But that's just my opinion.

Whatever he says will require liquor, either for the :wizard: or the :crying:.

Only time will tell.

Also I'd like for all the grumpy pants around here to point out where I  said that this meant s/s romance would be in ME?  *taps foot, checks  watch* [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie].  Wasn't joking about wanting the issue to be addressed regardless of the outcome.

Wouldn't a repeat of "shepard is predefined not to be a homosexual/bisexual male." be addressing the issue?

Not clearly, which was the word I used in the actual tweet.
