But with DA2 it seperated romantic and freindly banter. Currently ME does not. So youd be missing out on the platonic relationships because you dont want a romantic one.

And who says that can't be fixed in ME3?

bisexual characters would be fine if the seperated Romantic options from normal platonic ones. possibly with a color highlight like charm or intimidate to begin romancing. did you actually read my post or just what jumed out at you?

I read your whole post. And I agree with you that the dialogue-options that initiate romance should be highlighted, whether they be heterosexual or homosexual. I just largely took issue with your statement that "the bisexual exuse is simply bad writing." And, to a larger point:

My second problem is, that I personally, wouldn't want to see characters who have never been homosexual to suddenly be based on the players choices.
-For example. if thane were to return and this was given a gay option it wouldn't make any sense, He already had a wife and child and we'd have to beleive that he'd suddenly become gay?

Having once engaged in a heterosexual relationship does not preclude you from homosexual relationships. If Thane (or any character) is revealed as bisexual in ME3, it'll be because he or she was always bisexual, but unwilling or unable to express it.

And it won't be "bad writing." This is Bioware we're talking about.

I'd like to think of the future as more open minded where you don't have to be gay to enjoy some personal time with somebody you've been to hell and back with. (talking about squad member views on Shepard)

I just tweeted at hudson to ask if he'll just confirm or deny already, I highly doubt he'll even respond though, I know he doesn't really give a **** about us.

I don't think it's entirely fair to say that Casey Hudson personally "give a ****" about same-sex content. We have no idea what's going on behind the scenes at Bioware, or how much influence EA has over the subject.

That said, he has given us little reason to believe that he DOES care.

At the very least, Casey Hudson aware that the lack of same-sex content is a serious issue with the Mass Effect series, an issue that could impact sales. Given the terrible track record this subject has in the press, Hudson probably feels that he should offer a clarification... at some point. This might be AFTER the release of ME3, though I certainly hope not.

Well if s/s romance isn't an option in ME3, then I'd at LEAST like to see:

1) Gay NPCs represented in the universe

2) The ability for Shepard to admit interest in the same sex, either exclusively or inclusively. It would only take a single line of dialogue.

Words cannot describe how much I want this to be Preitor Gavorn.

...........and in my perfect world, he would make a pass exclusively at manShep. <3

Is it not kind of odd that the only gay male character we see is only hinted to be so and meant to be a joke?

Yeeeah... It's.... Okay, when you get down to it, it's not cool. :pinched:

This is why I won't buy ME3 if there's no male homosexuality. The Mass Effect games are riddled with the implications that heterosexuality is the norm, lesbians are hot fetish material, and homosexual men are non-existent. I, for one, won't support it.

And as glad as I'll be to hear Casey Hudson finally comment about the issue of same-sex romance in Mass Effect, I can't help but smile that just the news that he might comment about it some day passes as a big acheivement for us.

Additionally, Casey Hudson's latest tweet, reassuring the return of space boobs pretty much sums up this entire experience. *headdesk*

I MEAN, COME ON, SERIOUSLY.

Fans: Hey Bioware, can we have Tali in ME3?

Bioware: Oh, don't you worry.

Fans: Hey Bioware, can we have SPACE BOOBS in ME3?

Bioware: OH, NE'ER YOU FEAR, GOOD PEOPLE OF THE INTERNET!

Fans: Hey Bioware, can you clearly address the issue that is same-sex content in ME3?

Bioware: ....ehhhhhhhh....

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the head of Bioware's PR department for all we're getting.

To be fair, my reaction wasn't entirely warrented, but I still find "Space Boobs > S/S Romance" an appropriate metaphor for the entire situation.

But here's whatcha missed:

I wonder how they're going to talk about the issue. It's not like the gaming news outlets will.

It looks more like they are going to introduce people to the old ones.

But he is using company talk and being as vague as possible.

Yeah, that is rather vague. I'm hoping that means we'll get armour for combat situations, and more revealing outfits for home base. But that's off-topic.

And I seem to be failing at coming up with something new for the same-sex topic. Have we run out of things to say? D:

Welcome to the entertainment industry.

But seriously, isn't that a little extreme? I enjoy Mass Effect for more than romances or what this thread is about. As a dedicated fan, I'll support it no matter what. To say you won't like the game simply because it doesn't cater to you in one particular way shouldn't be a deal-breaker.

I find Bioware's excuses and double standards as laughable as the next guy, but I do like the series for what is other than that.

This is the way I feel too. As much as I'm dedicated to fairness, inclusivity, and other such things, the truth is I'm going to buy ME3 no matter what hamhanded PR nightmare CHud and Ray Muzyka come up with to justify exclusion of m/m content. The truth is we'll never know the whole story.

I don't think it's the best idea to boycott the game just because they're so wrongheaded about this issue. We've already played through two games without this content, it seems rather late to boycott them now. Not to mention, I really dislike it when other groups threaten to not buy this or other games because of one thing or another, even if it's something I would also like to see in the game.

This is pretty much how I feel about it too. There's been plenty of instances where a game hasn't included things I'd like to see (a female PC for example) but I've gone ahead and paid for it and thoroughly enjoyed it. A game is made up of many parts and can still be enjoyable without every single one of those. Even if it isn't fair not to contain each of the available features.

I support inclusivity when it comes to adding same sex romances into a game along with heterosexual romances. But even if BioWare exclude m/m romances this time, I'm still going to buy Mass Effect 3. Truth be told, I have the romance I want in it. I think it sucks that other players don't get the same but, from a purely selfish point of view, I'm happy with what I have. So I will buy it.

That won't stop me fighting right along side everyone here though. ^_^

I hope that future Mass Effect games that don't include Mr./Miss Predefined Shepard DO include m/m romance options for the protagonist. Maybe to compensate for their huge blunder with the current trilogy, they should have a protagonist who can be either a straight female, a lesbian, or a gay man, but NOT a straight man.

I think they want to give all romances the same amount of "screen time".

A new romance in ME3 would only appear in ME3, while every other LI appeared in one or both of the previous installments, and were romanceable in one of them.

With ME3, all LIs will finish the trilogy with 2 romance scenes (except Liara, who will end with 3).
