Regardless, even though they omitted the MaleShep/Kaidan dialogue choices for Shepard in ME1, they did not ADD anything to make Kaidan emphatically and exclusively heterosexual. They didn't change anything about Kaidan, they just made Shepard unable to go down that road. That doesn't mean one of my Shepard's wasn't considering it.

Look,if they don't put M/M romance romance in ME3,you can't prove your (male) Shepard being bisexual in the game. You can imagine it,but you can't prove it.

On the other hand,my Shep's actions say he's straight: he romanced Miranda (had sex with her, said he cares about her) but he never showed even the slightest interest in other men.In fact, when Mordin presumed my Shep is interested in him,Shepard literally laughed in his face. He doesn't need to say "I am not gay",his actions speak for themselves.

But you can't prove your (male) Shep being gay or bisexual since you are never able to show any interest in other men. You can play the game without romancing anyone but that doesn't prove anything. He might be gay or hetero or both, but just might.

What does this have to do with anything? I don't HAVE to prove anything about my character to you or anyone else. I'm not sure what your point is, but it's not really relevant.

And by the way, Shepard laughing in Mordin's face might have more to do with Mordin being an ALIEN than Mordin being a male alien.

It sounds to me like you want to make sure that there are no gay Shepards out there, and that you'll go to great lengths to "prove" that there are no gay Shepards out there. Well, even in the first game, MaleShepard has the option of romancing someone who tells him "I'm not a woman".

Heh. So BW would prefer my Shepard be a pedo rather than gay? (edit: not saying all priests are pedo. I'm well aware that was only a small minority).

Sad.

So he has a preference for... No. Too easy. Almost though.

Totally got ninja'd. Sigh.

Lol! Sorry, but just because Shepherd can't romance other men doesn't mean that he's not gay or bisexual. By that logic, I was never a bisexual until now when I starting to date other men. I just magically started to like guys.

And it's funny how people use "original character concept" when it suits them, but discard it when it doesn't. And use "included in the final release of the game" when it suits them, but discard it when it doesn't. And "asari aren't female" when it suits them, but discard it when it doesn't.

DEAR CASEY HUDSON:

Please stop crushing my soul by contradicting yourself on the same-sex issue. I cannot handle this, emotionally, for the next year of ME3 publicity.

Please, just a clear "yes" or "no" about the inclusion of same-sex content in ME3? Please?

As Kaidan said: "You need to make a choice. ...it'll hurt, but I'll get over it. But until you tell me, I can't get over it."

Yours,
KawaiiKatie

What a strange argument. A man is heterosexual until proven otherwise? Heterosexuality by default?

Also, you can kinda be xenophobic in ME2. Just let all the aliens die.

Let's look at how far BioWare had to bend over backwards to shoehorn a Tali romance into the second game. Tali was/is a very dedicated quarian girl, who would do anything for her people, even accept exile for her father's war crimes, to preserve his posthumous standing in the Flotilla. Tali tells us that her people don't even have capital punishment, because an exiled quarian could still have children that would be welcomed into the Migrant Fleet. She says there aren't enough quarians to just kill them for committing crimes. And yet, in spite of that, Tali is willing to engage in a relationship with an alien who can't father a child with her. And then there's that whole immune system issue, the fact that having sex with this alien could cause her to catch a life-threatening illness. In spite of all that, BioWare caved to the Talimancer demands for a romanceable Tali in ME2, and had to write all sorts of stuff about antibiotics and ignore the fertility issue altogether. And yet Kaidan being bisexual, something that could be explained away by a simple "you never asked, Shepard" is somehow preposterous, unbelievable, "immersion breaking", etc. Seriously?

ITS MORE CHARACTER BREAKING THAN TALI SIA!
:o

And it does justice by the character by changing her into someone who would risk her health and the mission on some nookie! BECAUSE SHEPARD IS JUST THAT SPECIAL!

Funny how strenuously people cleave to this idea, isn't it?

Thank you for that detailed and planned out explanation of your opinion.

I also don't think BioWare will make Shepard gay all of a sudden. I think they'll leave that up to the individual player. Yup.

Oh, she's already gay. And straight. And bisexual. Oh, and she can be a man too.

Wait...you didn't know Shepard is a customizable character?

I personally don't mind if they put an option so you could have sex with the same gender... But I wouldn't mind either if they decided not to.

Ah. Okay.

Sorry everyone's pretty high strung right now (myself included).

Not towards you :

"character breaking."

Yet turning Tali into a dithering giggling blushing girl when she was a mature, respectful young woman makes perfect sense and isn't insulting to the character atall.

*rolls eyes*

And damn you Sia for rubbin off on me. I can never look at Tali with my neutral expression anymore. It's just annoyance. And it grows the more I interact with her. <_<

Typical when you're trying to argue something that isn't in your control.Posted Image All this "Sheprad isn't gay" doesn't even have to be in their game but they have to deprive EVERYONE of what they want.Posted Image

I have a feeling that this is how a lot of people feel. It's a totally respectable position, and I think that the Mass Effect team would do well to put out of there minds the thought that same-sex options for Shepard would not, in fact, cause a majority of their fanbase to desert the series.

I'm not entirely sure on your opinion at the moment. You say you wouldn't mind if same sex content was or wasn't in the game. Fair enough. But then you also say that Shepard won't suddenly become gay. Either the former is an empty statement or you're just confused about the latter. Shepard is a customisable character so that doesn't even come into play.
